  • @sergio.ballesteros
    @sergio.ballesteros Před 6 měsíci +1

    Well, the problem is not being able to do specials with one button, but how they change the meta once you get to high level play. I mean, for Modern Controls to be FAIR or be perfect, you shouldn't have to adapt your gameplan depending on your opponent rocking a big M or C over his life gauge. In fact, if that was the case, for ranked, and both controls are equal to each other, then why not hide what control is using your rival? It should be IRRELEVANT to you if your opponent plays with one control scheme or the other.
    So if Capcom has decided to show it to you is because IT AFFECTS THE META AND THE MATCH-UP.

    • @sergio.ballesteros
      @sergio.ballesteros Před 6 měsíci +1

      I'll give you two examples:
      1.- Cammy can whiff punish your Hadoken from the other side of the screen with her Level 3. That means that you cannot do any kind of projectile while Cammy has Level 3. But when you play against a Classic player, to be able to do that on reaction he needs to be buffering like hell the 2 quarter circles, which would make your opponent to look like they are teabaggin. That's a visual cue that you are able to see and interpret in order to be careful. So when you see your opponent just casually walking and jumping, or even throwing buttons from the other side of the screen IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE THAT HE IS USING MODERN, you may be in for a big punish from a mere hadoken.
      2.- Zangief SPD required 360 input. Now it's just Forward+Special. Which means he can walk towards you like a steamroller and just SPD you. However, on Classic you are forced to either mask it behind a normal, usually ones with big frame numbers and reach OR by jumping, which is usually the case. Zangief classic players usually need to jump to input the 360 while on the air, so they are vulnerable to anti-airs and air-to-air, and that's why Zangief has also an SPD that can be done while on the air. There are a few crazy people who can make instant 360 inputs, but even Pros don't rely on that. So this changes completely the match-up when they rock that M.
      You shouldn't need to learn 2 match-ups per character.

    • @sergio.ballesteros
      @sergio.ballesteros Před 6 měsíci +2

      On top of that, Input error IS PART OF THE GAME, that's why we are in awe when we see Pros anti-airing with DPs instead of using the anti-air normals like the rest of us mortals do. Because it's hard. Because they put the time to be able to do it. So when A HUMAN fails in their inputs, and that makes that human lose the match, it's also part of the hype. You need to be focused not only on the whole mental stack, but also to be able to execute it. Will he drop the combo? Will he fail the DP? Those questions are notoriously reduced on Modern Controls.

    • @sergio.ballesteros
      @sergio.ballesteros Před 6 měsíci +1

      As a critic to the video: your challenge FORCES YOU to not fall on certain traps, for instance, the Cammy example I've shown earlier, if you don't hadoken, you aren't vulnerable to that punish. So, in a way, your experiment or proof, also protects you from certain Modern situations.
      All of these problems stem from one root: Street Fighter IS DESIGNED AND BALANCED around Classic Controls, and then, ADAPT IT to Modern Controls. I accept that Modern Controls was probably in their minds from the beginning, with Ed and Falk as some sort of beta-testing, but the core gameplay is balanced around Classic.
      I'm not against Modern Controls per se, but against how they are implemented in SF6. I like the approach on Granblue Fantasy VS, where they introduced cooldowns and other mechanics, in order to balance certain moves, because that game embraced Modern Controls from the design phase.
      Unfortunately, it's too late for CAPCOM to change this withou breaking completly Modern Controls, so I think the only way is to "Git Gud" against Modern players as much as you can.

    I kinda agree with the matchmaking thing. Though I personally don't mind modern controls, people should have the option to choose whether or not they face them in ranked and vice versa. I also think this video says more about Ken than anything else. xD

    • @MdZepp
      @MdZepp  Před 6 měsíci +9

      The point of this video is to show how fundamentals matter more than combos or specials. You can do spacing traps with any character, you can anti air with any character. I chose ken literally because he doesn’t have anything special without specials like an air grab, command normals, or more health. But I guess people see ken and only think broken without thinking why he is.

When you got your basics down and use normal attacks to defeat other players, they get so upset they even rage quit on you. They simply can’t believe that a bunch of normal attacks beat them.
