A Gentleman in Moscow is beautifully written. I read it 2 years ago and loved it. I still think about Count Rostov from time to time.

Hi there Helene. How are you doing? I have not heard of that last book before as well as any of the others, but I think that you have done a great job of getting my curiosity up and running. I am just about done with listening to the first book in the Lord of TBE Rings trilogy by Tolkien. Since I had finished doing a re listen to Harry Potter, I got in the mood to re listen to this series. I think that fall and winter are the perfect times to do that too. Also, before I forget, the other day, I picked up and listened to the first chapter of they Were Counted by Miklos Banffy. I used the text to speech feature on my Kindle fire to listen to the Preface and the first chapter and I found it easy to latch onto the characters, so I am going to give that book a try. Also, I have hit a bit of a lull in the book the Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock, so I may put that one down and investigate a few other books that I have been meaning to get back to in a while. See ya. Julie

Rosie Walsh's book is called Ghosted in North America. It personally didn't do much for me. There is a bit of a mystery element to it and I was more interested in the main characters back story overall. Its a quick read so perhaps see if you like the first chapter and see if it hooks you. It took me over 100 pages to finally get into it. Regardless! Happy reading :) I think I will be picking up A Gentleman In Moscow this weekend as the snow has begun here! :)

The Gentleman in Moscow was not my favorite book, but it had, handsdown, the best ending I've ever read in a book so far. I loved it!

Some very tempting titles there! I'm especially interested in "The Traveling Cat Chronicles". Just recently I checked out from the library Sylvia Plath's "Ariel--(The Restored Edition)" which is "A Facsimile of Sylvia Plath's Manuscript, Reinstating Her Original Selection and Arrangement" with a forward by Sylvia Plath's daughter Frieda Hughes. Cold and very damp here in my part of the U.S. Bad for being outdoors. Great being indoors and reading!

Gentleman in Moscow is my book club read for our December discussion; I’m only a few chapters in. It seems dense & long. I read Rules of Civility by the author which everyone seemed to love but I wasn’t crazy about it, so I’m hesitant.
I’m looking forward to reading Tana French.

I stumbled upon the traveling cat book last week and immediately ordered it for my daughter for Christmas, hoping it will be good, so can't wait to hear your thoughts! I am reading The Feather Thief and really loving it!

I liked the Rosie Walsh book, it’s an easy read, nothing deep but not a sugary sweet romance either. I hated My year of rest and relaxation, got tired of reading the number of pills the character was taking and hearing how gorgeous she thought herself. Ugh.

My Year of Rest and Relaxation was quite a let down for me unfortunately... I thought I would love it, but ended up giving it 2 stars. I found it repetitive, boring and I didn't connect with the main character at all. I hope you'll like it better than I did!

The last one is called Ghosted here in America and I have been listening to it on audiobook for awhile and just can't get into it. It's very forgettable for me. I am almost halfway through, trying to give it a good shot, and it has started picking back up for me. So it seems to be one of those you have to push through to get to the good parts but it does start off very slow and I can't say I like an of the characters either.

Pardon my ignorance but I'm genuinely curious as to what nationality you are. Your accent sounds like the main character from the animated movie Brave. It really sounds pleasing.

I’m thinking this is the same book that is titled “Ghosted” in the United States. If so, I finished it recently & found it pretty good. (Ghosted, as in the slang word meaning someone who disappeared, stood you up on a date, or didn’t call.)

@@susiekidd9183 Hello Suzie. Yes, that is correct, it is the same book and it is really good. I was desperate to read " Ghosted" but could not get it in the UK.
