Just thought I'd clarify a lil on the Vorinclex lore, he did survive. He broke into the tyrite sanctum, tyrite being what keeps the gods immortal, nearly killed Esika, took the tyrite, and seemingly warped back to phyrexia, which is why a lot of people are hypothesizing that they're working with Tezzeret and the planar bridge.
I like Birhi because she shows the passion in red, instead of just anger, love or Fire/lightning. Just passionate storytelling is a pretty red thing but it's not all that represented
That is a cool point, I know I'm personally sick of the burn everything personality characters

I'm brewing a deck named "Champions of Battle", focusing on Creatures and equipment. The catch here is that I won't cast Halvar, but only the Sword of the Realms. Any creature who wields the Sword becomes Halvar's Champion. He gives his blessing to his champions and they fight in his name. Already ready to order a couple cards when the set arrives, including Kaldhiem's own Champion, Sigrid.

Vorinclex's lore about him teleporting to kaldheim, the teleport lost him metal and bone leaving him as a pile of flesh basically until a stag came over curiously when he absorbed it, making him have a deer beast appearance this time around, SO COOL!

Well dang, what a vid! Overall it was a great vid!
Although I was super bummed you guys didn’t dive deeper into Orvar :( he’s one of, if not my number 1 favorite legend from the set. Lots of sweet interactions besides the cantrip thing everyone’s talking about (recommend trying with Sakashima).
Other notes is that Vorinclex, (nor doubling season or any other counter inflation) does not add more loyalty counters to PW’s when using their plus ability as its not actually adding counters but rather an activation cost or something like that.
Also wow to Tibakt claiming the throne! He’s definitely unique, strong and fun looking but for my personal taste he’s actually toward the bottom of my list of favorite Kaldheim legends, I’m actually not even sure I’m gonna get him right away. Vorinclex, Fynn, Moritte, the selesnya token guy, Cosima, and The Prismatic Bridge all personally ran higher for me.
Great vid as always though and a fun watch! Kaldheim is definitely a slam dunk set for me and can’t wait to play with these cards!

Prior to drafting, I'm most likely to make a Sarulf deck. I've been wanting to do green-black wolves since Eldraine but there weren't quite enough cards. I really like the look of Tergrid but I probably have enough mono black. But once I draft a few times, something else might really grab me that I hadn't expected, like the red-blue pirates in Commander Legends did. I love red-white but equipment bores me, so this set does me no good there. Totally agree on the showcase art. Hopefully we'll get playmats or scrolls or something for all of that.

My Favorite thing about jorn is this sequence
1.Cast him as The Staff
2. Clever Impersonator on turn 4 targeting the staff
3. Rule of legends the real staff to the graveyard.
4.Use the staff to play jorn from the graveyard

@@NitpickingNerds He focuses on 0 cast creatures, 0 equip Equipments, and sac outlets. Since most of his stuff are 0 to cast or very low cost and the amount of redundancy makes him consistent, he could go off by turn 2, 3, 4. If he gets behind, since he has White too, he could stall the game if he wanted so he has enough time to get his combo pieces.

As someone who built a Sarulf counters matter deck, nah actually. It got very fast to a point where Sarulf had enough counters to spook the table, but also could not quite deal with him. Him in conjunction with Vorinclex was a blast and personally, he's among my favorite commanders from the set. But I might be biased as I love the legend he's based on.
I love Varagoth and Vega in the showcase, you guys are right though the whole showcase series in Kaldheim is fantsastic!! I am very much enamoured with them.

First off, cool vid I liked & subscribed. As far as Koll goes, the answer is combo. Based off the Fruity Pebbles combo, Koll has some infinite loops. Here we go, with Koll, a cheerio creature, goblin bombardment, & lightning greeves, you got an infinite damage loop. Just one example, of course there's much more to go over but I don't want to write a novel lol. There's also a lot of interchangeable pieces. Anyways I hope that helps.

Correct me if I’m wrong but another thing that makes magda super cool is the fact that once the five treasures are out it’s almost impossible to interact with them because sacrificing them is a cost opponents cant stop you from doing so and if they target the tokens you can just sac em. Very sweet

I gotta say, when I heard wizards was doing a viking set, tibalt was not a card I was expecting from the set, let alone, be a fairly powerful card in his own right.

Koll is going to be a super powered combo commander. He will be possible to go off by turn 2 and likely to go off by turn 4 or 5.
What are his combos?
@@NitpickingNerds 0 drop creature + 0 equip equipment + any sacrifice outlet = infinite combo. Or you could do something like Mogg fanatic and any 0 drop creature + any 0 equip equipment + Phyrexian Alter = infinite damage. There are many ways to go infinite in the first few turns using 0 equip or 1 equip cost equipment, with 0 drop creatures and many different sac outlets. He may be the second Boros cEDH deck after Winota.
@@ONEwildGUN my main issue is that you have to play a lot of bad cards to make this work,
@@NitpickingNerds they aren't bad in this deck. Bad cards are relative based on what you are trying to accomplish. You run a lot of equipment and 0 drops that can make a wall that no one can get through because they all go back to your hand and can be recast. It will be able to be ramped up because there are a lot of cheap tutors for equipment and creatures and enchantments that allow equipping for free. I think you are missing how easy this guy is going to be to break. And it is hard to stop because any 0 equip equipment can be used and there are so many sacrifice outlets that it will be hard to have answers for it.
Actually do run the Kardur Closet combo in my Demon Berserker tribal deck. Totally agree with that placement

Ranar had some good lore. He was a defender of a city that had all of its warrior leave for the battle field. Ranar was the most trusted of the duke I think and was talked to stay behind and protect the women and children. When there was no siege he'd teach the children how to fight. When he belived they were old enough and could take care of themselves he let the Valkyries take him. They let him defend the gates to the spirit real and dubbed him some cool name. The lore is in the pre-con deck.

Reidane may not be amazing, BUT, I love it, and know for sure that it is absolutely a powerful card in hate bear decks. I will be playing the card to exquisite effect! Wish I could use any of my hatebear decks in which this card will be added to demonstrate their power!

Ranar the everwatchful can be a powerful commander if you take the blink or flicker path, and foretell to support
Svella is my favorite, what a durdly commander. I can't wait to use my Seedborn muse with this card and untap on each untap step. I'd opt for ''cool manaliths'' so than I could call the deck Cool Runnings Svella. I think Svella is inspired in the variant art and they are in the midst of a feverish icey manalith carving session. I prefer the normal thinking, contemplative version:P
55:55 there's 7, and that's kind of a stretch with 4 of them unless you really heavily build around it. Blue Braids, Hokori, Koma are decent effects each upkeep, Grouphug, stax, and koma. then there's the other 4, Korona "Here's free 8 commander damage" the false god, Ephara "I may get a card if I have a flicker" God of the Polis, Seizan "Everyone gets card advantage and I'm locked to 1 color" perverter of truth, and Shizuko "Everyone gets 6 mana turn 4 except for me" Caller of Autumn
I dunno if Gitrog is dethroned just yet. Personally, I think the new judge promo art is a ten, tying it with Tibalt.

Foretell is such an awesome mechanic, I think Ranar might be a little underrated here
Foretell is definitely the new mechanic from the last couple years I'd like them to revisit. The more foretell cards exist the better the mechanic is (not unlike morph).
Only disagreement is Tergrid, I think its not going to be fun because youll be a Public Enemy #1. Its also not completely unique when we just got Tinybones. Otherwise, you guys had some entertaining takes 👍

Koll, Magda, jorn, and the prismatic bridge are being made into cEDH decks. Koll has multiple turn 1/2 wins, Magda is a stax Queen, Jorn is a stasis god, and prismatic bridge is a one card combo with godo
That Ranar precon is bomb, throw in a Doomskar and some other shit if you want to and it is bomb
New lore stuff was posted about the legends the other day. My particular favorite was Birgi, which discussed the fact that she just takes credit for her siblings stories and sells them as her own deeds. Feels very red and very storm.
Also the Vorinclex description in that article is particularly gory especially for 2021 Magic... really rad though. Just a warning.

There are a few old cards that give posion counters, like Marsh Viper, Pit Scorpion, Sabertooth Cobra, and Swamp Mosquito that don't have a keyword associated with it
I used to play a black/green poison deck back in the day. Enchant a mosquito with fear and watch your opponent die inside.

@@crovax1375 I definitely ran Marsh vipers too but it was way more satisfying to kill someone with mosquito bites. It was pretty salt inducing for my opponents.

Well it only brings back things opponents sac or discard so it wouldn’t work if you targeted yourself
Koll is more of a combo guy in my opinion, use free equips on free creature and a sac outlet, it takes setup but is spicy when going

Orvaz fun fact orvaz makes infinite basic lands not mana from all the blue spells that turn lands into artifacts , tap for extra , turn them into snow/basic or any effects that clones can flicker

I actually prefer the main set art for Valki/Tibalt over the full art and showcase variants. Yongjae Choi did an amazing job capturing Valki/Tibalt's mischievous and flamboyant nature. Choi is one of the best digital artists WOTC has.

Magda is the runaway commander imo. She can be built for most power levels and several different strategies while remaining mechanically unique and flavorful. Personally, I just like that there's another competitively viable mono red commander so Godo can have a friend.
What competitive stuff is she enabling?
@@NitpickingNerds Dockside Extortionist usually enables her to tutor for cloudstone curio, from which you can drop a cheap creature and repeatedly get dockside etbs and you can tutor for a wincon. Just from personal testing, this can happen as soon as turn 2 in some cases
@@uphillwalrus5164 There are ALOT of ways to win with her. And yes, it can happen VERY fast. She is my favorite from the set. Also I like Godo and all but don't forget about Torbran. That deck is nasty.

I love Narfi! He's a free roll in zombie decks as long as you run snow basics and putting him in the graveyard is a joke in those decks. As long as you do those two things, you get a 3 Mana lord that comes out of your graveyard at instant speed and can't be countered without stifle. That seems pretty hardcore to me, but as a commander it's kinda worthless
so, if toralf has lifelink, opponent has 10 1/1 and a 4/4, you deal 2 damage to every creature with pyroclasm, can you do the 10 excess damage to the 4/4, gain 10 life, then do 8 excess damage to an opponent and gain another 8?
Does Tibalt see much play in paper EDH (as the commander)? I dont see playing with Tibalt in Historic EDH

Esika/Prismatic Bridge is THE ONLY card where I prefer the regular art over the showcase art
As usual you guys are a delight but I think you are WAAAAY underestimating Koll's power level. He might be the best Boros commander ever released (the only real competitors being Winota and I guess Bruse Tarl), his speed and consistency in comboing off are nothing to sneeze at and the deck is hard to disrupt as it is so redundant and can threaten a combo over and over again for very little mana. Granted the "meta" is always hard to predict and he might suffer the fate of many promising Boros shells, but he does seem cEDH worthy
Kaldeim in some ways reminds me of the OG set Legends, in that there are a lot of amazing-looking characters that are not nearly as good as their art.
The old phyxerian's could planeswalk before Urza blew them up and Karn went back in time. Since then, Karn dream up his plane and turned it into New Phyrexia by having some of the Oil seep into the plane.
Since the new phyrexian have no clue about the technology of old phyrexia, how did they learn to planeswalk. But they also are able to close the plane off from other visit, so it must be a inherit knowledge from the Oil or someone else was able to teach them. My bet is on Tezzeret due to he has a in universe way to teleport inorganic creatures to another plane.
