I see the fat man too!! You'll love it if you give it a chance. I was skeptical as hell when I put in my first kilt. I didn't know how people would react, especially in a small hick town full of cowboys and camouflage, but now I find that I hate wearing jeans. I feel odd and out of place in pants.
I've got 3 UT kilts, and like you said, for the money they are great. I couldn't be more pleased.

Nice to see an actual review that is done after use. Otherwise it's more yes it look good but much better to see how it holds up!
I wear kilts every day so they definitely get put to the test. I like to wear one for several months before I give it a thumbs up.

I've had issues with the quality on two out of the five I own, the rest have been good quality kilts.
