- In this episode, I show my process from start to end of the overhead cupboards being build and mounted. Using 12mm ply wood for Caucusing, Pocket holes for screws  and treating it with Osmo oil.

Looking good iv had a mare with the curved sides of the van but getting there slowly
Definitely, the curved sides have been a pain. It’s a mix of trying to use the curves as they look nice but not to go too mad trying to figure out the angles. My sub-wall framing did eliminate a fair bit of the wall curves
Yhh that’s we’re I made abit of a mistake iv insulated and then bordered with 6mm ply so iv still got all the curves to work round, Looks good but every piece of wood has to be scribed to the walls
Again i like your choice of material Alex and i see your woodworking skills are better than mine.
I used the small CLS timber for my bench and top cupboard framework. My garage wall and kitchen were all built out of OSB board with a wax finish and black knock on edging.
I like making things in a non standard way with my own ideas.
Much appreciated! I’ll be honest wood working skill wise I have no real background in it, I have always enjoyed building Things. I normally then research different methods. I already enjoyed the looks of natural wood grain but I am making sure I don’t go over the top with it in the van. The walls are going to be a contrasting light blue upholstery material. I’ve been using CLS as well for the shower stud work.

Amazing detail to all the jobs . Iv noticed no more help from a young lady or four legged friends. Do you suffer from Ocd ? As any work I do is followed or started or includes cleaning
Definitely find it important to clean during the build otherwise you get saw dust everywhere!

I may have to reference this later once I compete the wall furring strips, insulation,vapor barrier.. and electrical layout run wires etc. wheew! Which I was there working with you, then we could knock the both of them out. 😬✌️
Glad you like the style, there are plenty different ways of doing it I just felt this is what I wanted this gave the cleanest looking style for me.
My ordered Transit Van should arrive some time in early August, so I can not get enough of your build info. Questions:
1) Does your electrical switch panel open up, so you can check/troubleshoot the wiring in the back?
2) Your wiring layout- any chance you would be willing to share that?
3) I know you protected your wires, but does it make you nervous they are in the frame, surrounded by insulation, and will be covered with paneling? One school of thought is to keep it more accessible because, not if but when, you have an electrical problem you will have better access.

1) yes, there is access to the under on the cupboard area, it’s currently open, I’ll mostly likely add a sort of door to it in future. However the cupboard mounted switch panels area in only going to be where all the Conduit converges and back access to the switch panel and isolator switches. I don’t show it in this video but the fuses for the switch box are actually on the accessible front behind the small black plastic lumps. Consider it more a switch and fuse cupboard than the main electrical cupboard. The main electrical cupboard which is going to be located directly below switch panels the in current open area which is going to houses the main busbars, the big fuses, the solar charger, the battery the battery charger and a lot of other the system units. That is going to be hidden behind a panel but easily accessible for troubleshooting.
2) definitely, it is not quite finished yet but once the electrical video is out I’ll be releasing it with it so people can understand my layout. But I had the electrical diagram planned long before I had the van, the diagram helps to physically understand the layout of your conduit and wiring.
3) I can understand your thinking behind this point. I see it as just the conduits themselves are hidden in the insulation. With the help of a pipe pusher it’s easily to thread a wire through the conduit and come out of the other end. Troubleshooting wise it wouldn’t be too difficult to disconnect the wire at one end and put it all the way out check for issues and re-thread it again using the tool. However I have also thought of redundancy so most areas have at least two conduit lines running. And worse comes to worse it wouldn’t also not be too difficult to run wires at the back of cupboards

Rear drivers sides ( bedroom ) D 38cm x H 36cm x W 124cm
Rear passenger side ( Bedroom) D 50cm x H 15cm x W 124cm
Front Driver ( kitchen area ) D 30cm x H 25cm x W 62cm
As I’m going to be full time very much thinking about maximising storage options, while still being convenient
Awesome! I’ve got small overhead cupboards in the kitchen, but need something bigger for the bedroom! Was really stuck this is a huuugeee help!
Glad you have found it’s helpful. The thin but deep cupboard about the bed is so the is room to sit up against the wall under it.
