  • The Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL rolls out its 3-car Illinois Terminal "Tangerine Flyer" for special occasions. Like other head-end power hauling a string of passenger trailers, the 'locomotive' - here, IT Combine 277 - is positioned at the east end of the train. There is no provision to turn trains around at Kishwaukee Grove, the east end of the line, so on westbound trips the conductor pilots the train from the "tail" car using a handheld radio to communicate with the motorman and the dispatcher.
This video shows portions of a westbound trip from the vantage point of a passenger riding in parlor-observation car 234. As they say on the high seas, "Full speed astern!"
