    Very nice work capturing this parade and editing. I must put this on my calendar for July '13. It's been far too long since my last visit.
    I tell you, we are so fortunate to have the IRM folks doing such a great job to have so many examples of OPERATING historic pieces, most with original power in them.

    I don't know for sure. In general the museum hopes to restore every piece of equipment in its collection. However, that goal is always subject to the amount of available volunteer labor, money, and the condition of the item in question.

    I may have missed it somewhere! But of all the videos l watched and comments l have read l never saw any praise for the
    section gangs who worked very hard and long hours. To keep the rails in great shape so we can enjoy shows like this!
    So to ALL those who have worked on the tracks, and other work that sometimes may go unnoticed. l want to say Many THANKS!
    For all you do. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

      Jason Stroman it’s a booster, or B unit. Basically another locomotive without a cab. B units are less common nowadays because they cannot operate by themselves.

    Someday I just have to get out here. I love the mentality of "Anything that can run, will run" opposed to "We'll run it when we need to or want to". I've been a part of an organization that was more like "We'd love to run it, but (list of things that are wrong with it) nobody wants to work on it and we don't have the money to fix it anyway".

    • @dmkeenan
      @dmkeenan  Před 5 lety

      You'll find that at any railroad museum. Remember, every time you operate a piece of equipment you're adding more wear and tear. Every machine breaks down eventually. And some cases replacement parts are not available--period. And in those cases, you either have to steal parts off of another unit (if you have one) or fabricate the parts from scratch (if you have the resources to do so).
