- This is how I wire my 87' s10 for the small block chev I have in it, I will be running all mechanical gauges so no need to keep any of the sensor wires. I will be removing the computer later on and will make the wiring harness look much cleaner.
Thanks been needing a video about this and finally found one
I would have done anything for this to of been an 85 sport coupe Camaro with the 2.8 mpi v6. I’m doing a SBC swap and am trying to put together a game plan for a carbed hei distributor setup. 350 with Turbo 350 AT. I still learned a lot ty
I ripped out my computer and harness and kept nothing but alternator and key on wire I’m glad I done it right
What year you got?
I did the same thing

Over where the air box was to my my manual pump.
That pink wire isn't faded, it's actually pink. It's the one that goes to your ignition coil or HEI.
I have put about 10 different engines in my 85 s10. And I am about to do another swap this spring 😂
It's an addiction for sure!
After all the engines which sbc headers are the best?
I’m just about to go through my harness haha
I hope this helps
Thank you
Thanks 😊
I need to do the same to my 89. I have to delete the ac system first.
I have an extra heat only box here just sitting. Where you from I can send it out your way
I think I’m going to go with just a the cover plate. Thank you though!
Did your truck have any Anti Lock Brakes? if so did you just remove that also?
I did not have abs factory but with going to a disc disc set up I'm going with a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve
Nice tutorial got some questions though I knw this post is old
Ill do what I can, what's going on?
Was the wires that go through the passenger floor for any accessories like windshield wipers radio fuel gauge headlights turn signals or anything?
No that all comes through the firewall on drivers side, passenger side is all computer
@@pedaltothemetal3871 what about the heater?
@@matthewleonard9288 the heater has its own harness and goes in at the center of the firewall behind the distributor. Should only be a blue, yellow, orange wire and it will be exposed and ran along the heater box
Was wondering if this is same for a second gen s10/Sonoma? Thanks
I am unsure on that but you can check pretty quickly with a test light. I've never had a second gen to play with
I don't have a meter available right now. But one more question.! The 1 or R on the alternator is (ignition/ indicator light) not voltage meter?
Thanks I'll try it tomorrow morning! Is the distribution block necessary? And do I have to have alt gauge hooked up in order to chrg?
You do not need the gauge hooked up for it to charge, just use a miltimeter to make sure it is on the battery posts. The distribution block is also not necessary, I use it for supply power when I run electric fans and fuel pump to keep my positive wires short and mount the relays on the firewall.
What dose the pink with black strip go to
No heater ir air in my s10
what would i do to those wires to the stock fuel pump and gauge to make them work without the computer?
The fuel pump should be running from an oil pressure switch and relay. The gauge wires and pump wires run with the back electrical harness that plug into the main block next to the brake master
@@pedaltothemetal3871 how could i send you a picture of my situation bc it’s just getting more confusing all the computer stuff is new to me and i watched your video and you cut all that stuff out
Did you get it figured out? In the same situation just want the fuel pump on.... @@mystyical5222
What would I need to do in order to have a pcm from a 96 camaro power an lt1?
Not too sure on it, you'll have to look at all the wiring diagrams and track everything down
@@pedaltothemetal3871 what do you mean? Like track what pins go for what engine sensors? Or what pins I would have to connect to the truck fuse block in order to power the engine?
@@Marquez_0607 I've only heard about people doing a tbi motor and still being able to use most or all of the harness. I'm not sure with an lt1, that's a tpi motor right?
@@pedaltothemetal3871 not exactly familiar with if it's a tpi. How would I check?
@@pedaltothemetal3871 it is not a tpi motor tpi are pre 96 and on corvettes. Mine is a regular lt1, any advice?
What do u connect those wires to?
I saw a vid of a guy using a goose box and he only used like 2 wires
Can you post the link to your ignition kit thanks bro
Really any hei distributor will work, you can get it off the shelf at a lot of auto stores or if your running a coil run it to the + post on the coil if running msd. I don't really remember what was said in the video. I'll have to check after work
Thanks I subscribed will be doing my swap Saturday
Did u sale tht intake ?? I'll buy it if not, shoot me a price for it
Intake Is gone, currently waiting to hear back from the powdercoating place
