Apart from the many examples of endless surgical procedures making so many women look older as the hit their 40's and over, I'm interested in the long term effects of Botox, not just on the muscles, but what has been reported about how, by freezing the forehead , the forehead is unable to then move the scalp muscles, when the person is trying to respond facially to an emotion. As I hear it, in the long term, this can make it very difficult for people to emote properly, because their brain isn't receiving the signals required to "feel" the correct emotions when required. I understand that this can cause real problems with emotional responses; doctor, can you comment on this?

Kendal Jenner is no exception. The vast majority of celebrities, sadly , are forced to remain as youthful and beautiful as possible in order, or so they feel, to remain relevant. This too often seems to result in unbridled narcissism. (Of, course, that’s only my opinion). I compliment those who at least admit to procedures (let’s not forget rampant photoshopping, ala Jennifer Lopez) rather than presenting an untenable goal for, especially, young women and girls. The denials, the “I’ve NEVER had any kind of cosmetic procedure whatsoever”, while not only being blatantly false, is creating an epidemic of body dysmorphia among women. We should be looking elsewhere for role “models”. I say all this as a former model who realized long ago there were things far more important to my existence than my appearance. We should all try to lead by example for our children, and theirs. Beauty alone will not get you far in life, without the financial means to maintain, or create it. Search deeper into yourselves for those things that are far more meaningful. Have you ever chosen a book, attracted by the exquisite artwork in the cover, only to embark upon reading a story that was a major . Find a good story. Forget the cover.

It’s not because they lack self love, it’s because if you can afford to make your face marketable, businesses will use you as model and you become a pseudo reality tv star. Prior to the Kardashians and social media, without Hollywood, that was impossible.
This type of thing started a long time before the Kardashians really started setting the standards. It started with like jen selter types, with her fake butt being lauded as the result of bands and certain exercises. She then started selling pants and teas and stuff.
However when Kylie took over after her lip surgery I think she became probably the biggest star we’ll ever see in that category (grifter who used the scandal of transforming her face as a teenager to sell makeup, supposedly the explanation behind the evolution, which most adults knew was a lie then). It was not commonplace prior to Kylie for average people to say, “if you can afford elective surgery and it makes you happy, you should do it.” Because it’s so common now I pray to god it’ll fall out of fashion (as will the kardashian body type).

I worked for 15 years a group of plastic surgeons as an RN starting in the early 80’s. The women of all ages had various reasons for their surgeries but I saw many returning for different surgeries that they hadn’t initially thought about. The front office staff all had multiple types of surgery as it was all done for free and they were also used as examples to patients. When I saw patients for the first time, they all asked what I had done eyeing me up and down, but didn’t believe me when I said that hadn’t had anything done. One doctor who joined after me assumed that I had multiple surgeries and although I rarely worked as chaperone, I did on occasion. The doctor was discussing a rhinoplasty surgery and turned to me and explained to the patient that he would never make the tip look like mine. I told the doc that my nose was natural and was similar to my dad’s. He never believed me, but quite a few years later he saw my teenage son whose nose was identical to mine and commented on genetics. I think that people become so insecure about every detail of their face or body that they don’t appreciate their uniqueness and that personality is what makes them. If one feature that someone intensely dislikes, surgery can change that feature and give them confidence, but to try and achieve perfection and perpetual youth, they become caricatures of themselves.

He had previously trained as a cardiovascular surgeon with DeBakey and changed his specialty, so was a meticulous, skilled surgeon but wasn’t known for his tact. We got along well together and his comment was made shortly after he joined the practice and didn’t really know me. The office staff all had at least 3 procedures, some 5 or more and patients would even ask about my breast augmentation 🤣 which I never had done. Honestly at this point I think the Kardashians themselves may no longer have an accurate idea of what they look like. So much of their life involves looking good in photos and they definitely still use pretty heavy filters and photoshopping to make sure they look a certain way. All this time spent looking at heavily edited photos of yourself and others has been found to have links to having a negative body image and I think that might be happening to the Kardashians.
Cameras always have s certain level of distortion happening and they’re 2D images instead of three-dimensionsl beings so you do look different in photos than in real life and it can be really difficult to take a photo where you look the same as how you see yourself when you look in the mirror. This obviously creates the discrepancy between how they perceive themselves and how they look, which could be leading them onto a path of endless elective cosmetic procedures

I agree!! Sometimes I take a pic of myself/see myself in a pic and I'm SHOCKED because I never realised I looked so "awful". Unfortunately, photos can do that. It doesn't make it true! We're much more alike to our mirror image than we are to photos, but like you say, when people like the Kardashians/Jenners only see themselves on camera/in edited pics, they're probably HORRIFIED to see "less flattering" candids. It's so sad, because they would all be naturally gorgeous without the surgery/injectables.

This standard and obsession with perfection is actually not from the ‘family’, it’s all cause of Kim. Kourtney never cared for glam, Kylie used to be rock/punk chic and the silly/fun type, Kendal is a Tomboy and I think, deep down, her real passion is to be an athlete. Khloe was happiest when she was plain and full figure; around this time she was with Lamar and they were genuinely in love at one point. Kim was the one who would always critique her sisters and their looks. She would either destroy them or make them feel God-like with a compliment and they started to feed off of that, esp seeing how important it was in making Kim rich. Khloe and Kourtney used to resist Kim and their mum’s obsession with the perfection for money game but slowly, the dynamics changed and Khloe got sucked in, then Kylie and the rest. Kourtney is still struggling and is trying hard to hold onto her identity and be different but over the years, she has lost all her confidence and has become pretty sensitive and insecure. Travis is slowly planting seeds though and you can tell when she talks that she says some intelligent stuff to defend herself but they’re all from Travis, not her 😅 like when she said to Kim “you accumulate and you’re constantly working but you don’t know what you’re driven by”. It was bang on and very insightful but clearly something Travis would have said that she held onto. I want to see where Travis takes Kourtney. That’s the only interesting thing right now. I feel sad for Kim; all that money and hard work but she’s never experienced true love at her age. Always used as an object of desire or someone’s muse but never truly loved and nurtured for who she is inside. The only person who loved and nurtured Kim without any business involved was her dad and that’s why she gets extremely emotional over him. Sad.

It's true she did look really good from some of it, but I think the potential danger of such good results is making you want to seek more of it, like Pavlovian conditioning.
