I blame their mother. She has been brutal to those sisters their entire lives. When your own mother constantly points out their flaws and pushing them into modeling, you can see why Bella decided to give in to the pressure to “conform”.

@@elladapetrosyan9610 i think it did age her a bit as she has a more carved out look, certainly not 10 years though and she turned from unremarkable looking (basically a cute girl) to supermodel. her surgeons understood the assignment.
I was sincerely shocked when I realized that Bella was actually younger than Gigi. I think these proceedures have aged her considerably. Bella was beautiful as she was, but I can imagine having a sibling famous for her outward appearance would be difficult to deal with pschologically without good parenting. It's really sad for Bella and for the young women who idolize her.

Fortunately having grown as an ugly girl that had to buy beauty with brain I can say with pride that nothing I said or did could have made anyone feel this way. I've learned not to give unwanted advice unless it's something minute that can be quickly fixed - a leaf in your hair, spinach in teeth or a stain/rip in clothes. Beyond that - I say something nice if situation calls for it or say nothing at all about appearance and just compliment their personality and personal achievement.
As long as beauty can buy success,there will be cosmetic surgery but stopping unwanted criticism can help many "average" people avoid becoming self conscious. Excessive criticism, even a single time can even trigger dysmorphia.

It’s deeply troubling that Bella had a nose job at 14. In Australia (and I presume it’s the same in the USA), a minor can’t have any cosmetic procedures performed without parental consent. This would mean that Yolanda signed off on it. In fact, I would bet that she encouraged it and was the driving force behind it happening… what kind of 14 year old even thinks to get a nose job, let alone go through with one? I highly doubt it was Bella’s idea. And that thought alone makes me really sad for Bella 😔

I’m 38. When I was a child I was called ugly. I would be compared with one of my friends and kids (and adults) would say that I was “the ugly girl”. Fast forward, I accepted that my looks would not get me far, so I focused on studying, and I got good at it. I am aware that these experiences hurt me and left a scar, but I have built a life that does not rely on my appearance. I can’t even imagine what young people are being exposed to…constantly bombarded with beauty standards that are unattainable. I am a new mom, and when I saw my newborn I cried so much thinking…he is beautiful and perfect just the way he is…I wouldn’t change anything…why do I keep seeing flaws in the mirror…they do not exist.
I know that anyone can do whatever they want to their bodies, but if no one has told you today: you are beautiful, you’ve always been and will always be. 💜💜💜
Wow your story mirrors mine! My cousin and I are the same age and we were very close. Growing up, we were best friends. But to everyone around us, she was always the pretty one and I was the smart one. I also focused on my studies (and developed an elitist mentality that I’m trying to work on). Sad thing is, it was all external. We never compared ourselves.

You were conditioned to think that way during a time when that was the norm for women to view themselves superficially. Just keep reminding yourself that you are a human being. Not just a face and a body. We all grow old (if we are lucky) , ultimately our souls are what matter.

I thank God I stumbled upon this channel. I am 40 and was bullied a lot in junior high school. I’m a Black woman and as a girl I was constantly teased for having a large flat nose, chubby cheeks. I’ve been in therapy for 3 years I’ve also traveled the world and learned that beauty standards are entirely subjective. In Argentina my face is considered gorgeous because it’s not the norm there. Men stopped on the street and told me how beautiful I was. In Brazil my face was not considered classically beautiful but I saw myself in so many Afro-Brazilian women that I learned to love myself. Now watching this channel I’m thankful that learning to love the face I have is the journey that I’m on. ❤️
Hmm... Not quite, obviously beauty standards are _not_ entirely subjective at all. Even if it's true that they can vary through regions and time.
Still, there is some universal traits to a beautiful face (such as symmetry, balance, regularity, etc.).
But of course, saying that a black woman for instance, has to resemble a white woman as much as possible to be judged beautiful is plain wrong and stupid. Yet this is sadly what some people think, and even more sadly, some black women!
I was always made fun of for having a larger Jewish nose. I wanted surgery so bad growing up, now I just embrace looking Jewish. I’m in therapy as well. ❤

Totally! Travelling and experiencig other cultures is is important. Western beauty standards exist only in the west and can be the complete opposite elsewhere - and they're not even consistent in the west, as you can see from your experience in Argentina. I come from Ireland and was always ashamed of my pale skin (we mostly all are back home). Now I live in the Mediterranean and they tell me how much they love it

This is why I've never idolized models or Hollywood star looks. I can't imagine the pressure and stress these people face, trying to turn themselves into an unrealistic mannequin. My heart breaks for these ladies. I'm far from "model" looks, and I'm learning to push past the lies media promotes, and have more confidence as I age. I'll be 50 in two years, and I want to be a positive example of self acceptance, for my nieces and grandchildren.

It’s sad because Bella is not unattractive pre surgery - she’s quite beautiful - but she didn’t conform to USA beauty standards per se. She looked more like a Middle Eastern Princess. It’s sad that the Eurocentric beauty standards are so dominant. I wish the curved nose would be seen as beautiful other than the European upturned button nose (that honestly not even many European people have themselves).
She wanted to be more successful in her modelling career. That's what makes the difference. She wasn't in a position to say that she could look however the hell she wanted. In order to be successful, some standards have to be met.
And it worked. She is now one of the most iconic model in the modelling industry. However, her mental state is a mess. I guess being successful doesn't automatically make you happy.
If I had as much money as she does, I would have reconstruct my entire body if possible, let alone my face. My mind will probably go insane but at least I will look good every time I look into the mirror.

She didn't need to make any changes to her face. She had her own unique and pretty look to her. Her sister, to me, has a more typical look, like "California girl" look whereas she has a more exotic look. If she let herself mature to her full-grown look she could have seen how pretty she was as an individual. So sad that she fell victim to the pressures of the celebrity world around her.
Her mother is the one who convinced her that she had to live off of almonds and hack her face up to be successful as a model. It obviously worked. Our culture towards women and beauty is gross on so many levels.

I remember reading Michael Jackson's biography when I was much younger. One part that really stuck with me was when he described seeing his father whenever he looked in the mirror, due to his distinctive nose - I can't remember whether he specifically gave it as a reason for his initial surgery, but considering the abusive relationship they had, it was at least inferred as a reason...
He deserves no sympathy or pity. He was a disturbing child abuser. This is a fact.
Yes, his father was the main reason for his body dysmorphia and low self esteem about his appearance. He constantly bullied MJ for having a "bigger nose" .

As I age, I start to look more like my mother in some ways, and it's triggering. I didn't mind aging until I noticed this about myself. I don't look like my mom and I just didn't see it coming.

I had a co worker that had a lot of work done and she had a 13 year old daughter that looked like her before all the plastic surgery. She would tell her daughter that she will fix her face once she's 16. It was so sad. 💔

Depends on the person. I would have loved it if my mom had been willing to get my nose fixed at 16. I hated it so much and it affected my self esteem. I had it fixed myself much older. I wish I'd done it sooner.
I went through pure depression bc my mom would keep on telling me i‘m too fat so I wouldn’t know what would happen to me if my mom told me THIS, especially at a younger age than 16? I‘m baffled

Litigiousness. He'll be sued if he says anything definitive about what people have undergone. The surgeon can only speculate. Note that this professional behavior is a safety net, so he focuses on the cost of a general procedure and steps back from direct questions.
This is where I disagree with your statement. Genetics is strange, and combining it with another person produces interesting offspring. Now not all offsprings come out like their parents; for example, a parent of a child might have a smaller nose, but the child might be born with a more prominent nose (or vice versa) because of a recessive gene carried by the parents, or the child might be born with attributes not found in their parents but in their grandparents. Some people gifted with these attributes by their parents might love it, and some might not, which prompts them to go under the knife.
It is not just facial features people go under the knife for; it can be to enhance their breasts after repeated breastfeeding or remove loose skin from pregnancy, or even have their genitals tightened after multiple childbirths. All of these things won't kill you as it is natural, but it doesn't stop people from having them corrected.
Cosmetic Surgery has a lot of negative connotations because it is seen as going against nature, and altering your natural-born feature can be seen as an a front to nature. The truth is cosmetic Surgery is neither good nor bad unless you overdo it, which then becomes bad.

This is exactly what I love about Cher, Jane Fonda and most of all Dolly Parton. They don't pretend not to have done a bunch of work (much of it unnecessary, imho) these ladies just openly acknowledge that it is part of show business. Jane Fonda recently admitted to regretting much of the work she had done, but she does look very elegant and balanced. I definitely agree with Stephanie regarding traumatizing childhoods and extreme surgery. Michael Jackson was a tragic poster boy. I think that poor Bella has ruined her face at this point.

Gary Motkye surgery plastic surgeon who does videos like this Dr Gary calls them out as good examples of plastic surgery too. Michael Jackson had a lot of issues not all his fault both Dr Garys do great videos on him.
The thing that saddens me is not plastic surgery itself but the fact these women erase their ancestral beauty traits. Those that made you stand out from the rest. The unconventional beauty of today ! Instead they all morph into the same standard face becoming generic. Almost like society is deliberately trying to erase all diversity of ethnic beauty !
Every time I think I’d be interested in slight changes to my nose, I stop and think why would I want to get rid of my moms nose? That’s a feature of hers that would be erased, my grandpas and so on. I get to have her features and she gets to see her likeness in her kids, maybe it’s too deep to think a parent would be hurt by a nose job but that’s a big reason that stops me in my tracks for sure.
I agree with you totally. I find Middle Eastern,Jewish, African and Indian people to be very attractive. But I know so many girls of these heritages hate their faces and have work done. It’s not wrong at all, but I find it sad that they want to look more Western. They are beautiful in their own way. We all are. The Western aesthetic was pushed as the “most beautiful” or standard of beauty. Now, beauty is beyond exotic, more catlike, or, dare I say it otherworldly?
@@miask western aesthetics being pushed yes totally ! But not even western women look like that. To have big lips , high cheek bones, slim perfect noses , big eyelids (God forbid hooded eyes) , fox eyes , chiseled jawline etc. How many western women do you see that have all that naturally in a face? Not many if any. Usually nature will pick some of those features but remove others to bring balance to face. Even the western ancestral features are being erased too. I feel like society took all the best features from all ethnicities and put them into one generic face which we see today and tries to erase all other features (like they’re seemed not good enough)
You know, you’re right again! I was thinking back to Christie Brinkley. A lot of girls, big and little wanted to look like her. I would think she would be an ideal of Western beauty. There are many more, but when I was growing up, I wanted to look more like her-I was blonde haired with blue eyes-so in my mind, that was attainable. 😅My downfall was being the strong, hardy daughter of a mother who was exotically beautiful, but never had a nose job. He patrician nose is what was special about her-and set her apart. She constantly dieted to fit in to a 4 or 6. I was hounded to lose 10lbs, 15 would be better, she said. So I grew up believing I was fat and no boy would like me because of it. Not too long ago, I was going through old photos. I saw myself as I looked back then. Not fat at all. Sadly due to an accident, illness and meds, I really am fat now. I hate myself for it too! This is what living up to impossible standards will do to that to a young person. I’m sure you know girls who, for their 16th birthday, got a nose job or breast implants. I’m glad you didn’t change your grandpa’s nose. I’m sure you’re a beautiful lady just as your are. Perhaps Bella was trying to emulate, or surpass Gigi.

@@miask Your story is much like mine. I have a naturally more fleshy, voluptuous body type (the Kibbie Romantic) while my mother was a very thin gamine body type. Looking back, I didn't look fat at all, just more fleshy than my mom, my aunt, two stepsisters and even my sister who is fleshier,too. Had I been born in the 50's, my body type would have been envied, but instead, I was told I looked fat and so thought I was. Fast forward three decades and I am fat for real. What a predatory world in which we live.
the fact that she admitted to the nose job tells me all i need to know. usually, when people start getting procedures, it never just stops at one. they usually have more because sometimes the one procedure can off balance the rest of your face and require some more modifications to balance it all out.

I was thinking of something right now
I don’t have childhood trauma but I work with a lot of clients who do, so I have some background. I’m also a domestic violence survivor (severe, attempted murder 3 counts on top of severe violence while pregnant daily, whether it be psychological, financial, or physical). There is definitely a correlation between trauma and changing yourself (just like some turn to drugs, alcohol, etc. others turn to plastic surgery or changing their looks.) I know when I got freed of my experience I changed my hair for safety reasons but oddly after watching this I’m realizing it did a lot for me to move forward and not associate myself NOW to the traumatized old self. I didn’t get surgery but I changed styles, behaviour, and what we all do in a breakup - HAIR ! Also look at trauma survivors and the correlation with the punk goth looks or anything out of the norm. It is a sense of control and not wanting to be the self that was so deeply hurt. (Extreme cases like cutting, but in a diff perspective).
This scares me as I think about it, as I don’t have childhood trauma my daughter was abandoned by her father at 3 months old and has not seen him since. At 5.5 years old now, she displays emotions she can’t express. She will be one of many with childhood trauma no matter what I do. I will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn’t happen, turning to alternate sources for security whether it be plastic surgery, rebellion, drugs/alcohol, etc. We have to be so mindful of this!

I truly belive kids and teens shouldn't be allowed to get plastic surgery ,Bella may have grown into her original features, would she have waited until she was an adult , Teens don't seem to understand that once you operate your nose there is no coming back

For most US states, it is not legal to do cosmetic procedures until the person is 18. This includes lip fillers, which the FDA approves for 21+. Surgeries like breast augmentation, liposuction etc. it is firmly set at 18. Special exceptions are sometimes made, and girls as young as 13 have had nose jobs, with the justification that they are being bullied to an extent where they require it. A good surgeon would not take on someone that young, because they know the face has not fully developed. Young celebrities that get these procedures must have gotten parental consent and went to doctor that ignores their better judgement. The laws are in place but they aren't followed as they should be.
@@ultra_cosmic Transitioning before 18 involves no surgery or cosmetics procedures which would be illegal. At this age transitioning consists of wearing gender-confirming clothes, going by preferred pronouns etc. The only approved medical treatment, as recommended by American Academy of Pediatrics, International Pediatric Associations and other medical experts, is puberty blockers (which are reversible). Hormone therapy is not discussed until you are 16, at which point you begin a years long process to get approved for hormones. This process is supervised by doctors, psychiatrist, other mental health professionals. Only at 18 can the person get surgery, but again it is unlikely they are approved at this age, as the person generally have be on 2+ years of hormone therapy before considering surgery. I hope this information is helpful.

Tbh, both girls look like Yasser Arafat in the face. I'm I calling them ugly? No. Yet, they wouldn't be modelling at all without their parents' connections/bankrolling. So, if someone IS pushing surgery on them (which I doubt) then there's really no point since beauty was never really the underpinning factor in their modeling careers to begin with.

Yes exactly!! Her mom is horrible, she instilled both her daughter’s insecurities. She still controls everything their daughter’s eat etc. Very sad so no wonder she literally changed her face & body to an extreme. I’m not saying she doesn’t look good. She is very pretty now & she seems happy with her surgeries & I respect that but still feel her mom messed with her self esteem.
I honestly think at this point that just growing up in Southern California qualifies as trauma for a young girl. Women there are held to such ridiculous standards, and body augmentation is so rampant that no natural face/body can possibly measure up. I look forward to the day when women revolt against these expectations, from BBLs and poofy lips, to lasered hair and bleached bum holes. It really is time for a massive social correction.

My friends are gorgeously funny, kind and compassionate; I can't tell you whether they're beautiful or not, who knows? I surely don't care. The surface is not WHO they are. What happened to ME TOO? Why do celebs feel the need to lie even in the 2020s, when this stuff is WIDELY accepted for non-celebs even? Is it pressure from their management just in case they ever want to sell a skincare/beauty line? There HAS to be a bigger reason than shame, because it just doesn't make sense anymore.
i guess because, especially in the model, "appearance" industry, admitting to as little as possible work done is the best move. Imagine the headlines if everyone "discovered" that most of the top 10 best paid models all had plastic surgery. People forget that they might have kids… and the kids will look like the original you. Imagine how confusing and sad that must be for a child… to not look like their mother/father. It’s heartbreaking how Bella’s mother pressured her own children to make such drastic changes… these changes are for LIFE. Once you go under the knife, you can not undo it. Sometimes parents literally project their own insecurities onto their children to try to fulfil their own…comfort… it’s so messed up.

@@sydneyelise7260 Adopted children know (or should know) that they have different genes than their parents. As biological kid it can be heartbreaking that you don't even look related to your parents who had drastically changed their original characters. Another aspect is that you have kids with a person who has the features you like, but instead of the beautiful eyes, lips and nose, you will get a not so attractive kid who looks exactly the same as their parent at that age. Surely you can be prepared for that at some extent, but very drastic changes might be problematic for some.

I have an opinion about the childwood trauma theory, based on my own experience. I had a troubled childwood: lots of family conflicts, psychological abuse, religious abuse, health issues, being bullied at school... When I was 14 I had a traumatic experience, which opened my eyes on the fact my parents were systematically denying my needs. It took me many years to actually realize that experience was a trauma. That experience changed many things about my way of life; among other things, I felt a strong urge to change my appearance, with clothes, with makeup, and if I had the means to resort to plastic surgery I would have done it massively! (I talked about it a lot, even had a clear list of the procedures I desired)
At first, I justified it by saying that meeting beauty standards would improve my social life and the chances of being successful.
When I grew up I abandoned the wish of surgically alter my appearance, since I realized for me it was just a way to separate myself from my family.
It was like saying: "I am repulsed by everything you have given me. I want to dissociate myself from the look you chose for me with the clothes you provided for me. I want to dissociate myself from the image you expect me to maintain in social contexts, from your upbringing. I reject your distorted perception of me as a submissive person, unable to express my will, stand up for my rights, be assertive. I even reject this body, because it comes from your genetics, and I don't want to be known as one of you."

I’m 30. I don’t have any forehead lines. Not everybody starts developing lines in their 20s.
When I was 40 I had my youngest and at that time was pretty routinely still being “carded”. My mom died at 57 and had no lines in her face.
The most problematic issue I see with this industry is that the prominent figures aren’t being honest about the work they’ve had done. It’s not right to shame someone for getting cosmetic surgery - but when you as a person outright deny any of it, the conversation is shut down and you leave a lot of important details unaddressed. Such as the risks involved with each surgery you may consider getting. I hope people take better care of their personal/mental health first before succumbing to the idea that a nose job or face lift will make their lives immensely better. Regardless of what the world may say, focus more on your internal beauty longterm.

Is it just me or is it outrageous that she was starting her plastic surgery journey at 14?! Nobody actual likes how they look at 14 - that's the pathway of puberty & being a teenager; struggling with comparing your appearance with others, feeling inadequate, unsure & lacking in confidence. If you just opt for surgery to try & fix all your perceived flaws as a young teen - or older teen for that matter - you're not actually resolving the origin of your insecurities.
Perhaps her parents should have helped her work on her inner self esteem & self worth before agreeing to allow her to undergo external surgical changes, maybe then she wouldn't feel the need to surgically alter her face so regularly.

Think about Bella’s experience as a hadid. Your mother was a super model. Your sister, a natural beauty, tall, blonde, blue eyed. And then there’s you. Your name is BELLA. you HAVE to be beautiful. The world is watching. Your mother and sister are gorgeous. But you have a hooked nose, hooded eyes and a round face. Oh yea, and you live in LA. It’s a wonder she didn’t go so overboard that she ruined her face. I can’t even understand the pressure she must’ve felt.
I looked awkward as a teen and I used to want fillers esp chin fillers. Now that I’m 27, my nose doesn’t look as big, my baby fat started to shed, my eyes look larger now and my jaw doesn’t dominate my face. Trust me, you will grow into your face. Your body and face are ever changing.
Not necessarily. I always hated my nose and never "grew" into it. Finally got it fixed at 41 years old. My only regret is not doing it much younger to enjoy it longer.

Psychological trauma often causes people to feel "not good enough" and plastic surgery can definitely give the impression that with these tweaks, they become good enough. Of course, the healing all has to happen on the inside. There are so many things people resort to in finding somekind of outlet for trauma take gambling addiction, every kind of addiction really, eating disorders, much confusion about identity, so maybe plastic surgery isn't the worst when you can afford it especially considering sadly some don't survive at all. I've worked with trauma survivors for about a decade, am a survivor myself, and a therapist.

I think there is some selective effect taking place when people choose plastic surgery to deal with trauma: You need a certain minimum of wealth and physical health to get most of these procedures.

She looks matured after her surgery. It's funny models before were hired or discovered due to their authentic beautiful or unique looks. Now a days almost everyone looks the same with filler plump lips, some with almost buck teeth, augmented breasts & others. I still admire the models from the 70s, 80s, 90s to early 2000s.

Bella's natural look reminds me of my childhood friend. I think it's such a beautiful, friendly face. Her face now appears harsh and aged in my opinion.
I watch this show all the time thinking of myself as "natural," but I just remembered that I've had a lower eye "lid" surgery in high school. My lower eyelash used to grow upward into my eyes and the eyeballs often get scratched. Eventually, my mom took me to get a surgery to cut the lower eyelids downward a bit. The surgery has changed the shape of my eyes. I don't think I look better or worse, just different. I've never heard of anyone else having this surgery. Just curious if anyone here has had it or know anyone who did ^^
I've heard of it. I don't know anyone whose had it.
I'm hoping one day to get surgery on just one eye. My right top eye lid started drooping a bit in between 1st and 2nd grade and got moderately severe by 3rd grade. I had to develop a habit of constantly opening my eyes as wide as I could and raising that eye brow to let that eye lid fold and sit at the normal height of the other one. It's been decades and it's mostly subconscious now, but that doesn't change the inconvenience and physical discomfort when it isn't sitting right. And that eyebrow is now noticeably higher than the other from years of constantly lifting it for the eyelid adjustment.
I don't know yet, but I can imagine feeling like getting that fixed would register emotionally as "getting work done". It's an issue I've hated for a long time that's uncomfortable. It's fixing a problem my other eye doesn't have. I love the idea of thinking as little about that eye as I think about my normal one.

@@thayerwilliams905 Thank you for sharing! It sounds like you could certainly find a good surgeon who would be able to help you achieve the balanced look that you desire. I think Forest Whitaker has a similar look to what you described? I apologize if it's nothing alike. But I've always loved Forest's performance. The drooping eye did nothing to hinder his fantastic ability as an actor.
I do know people who had this type of procedure done. It's actually quite common as it seems to be used to combat many different issues, including very dry eyes as well.
Personally, I've never felt it made a big difference in people's eye shape. After surgery the eyes do look different, but I've always attributed it to swelling. Once the swelling goes down, I'm already used to how the person looks and therefore don't really noticed any major changes in eye shape.
I imagine it being similar to people who are super self-conscious of their uneven nostrils after a rhinoplasty (- myself being one of those lol), yet no one else notices it. It's natural that it would be more apparent to you.
Have the results held up well? Or has the lower lid turned a bit more upwards/inwards over the years?
Hope those questions aren't too personal. I just find it really interesting. But no pressure to answer :)
@@mejuliie Thank you for the insight; I never knew it could help with dry eyes too! Before the surgery I have very small eyes (typical Asian monolid eyes). The surgery made my eyes slightly bigger, maybe that's why the change is obvious to me. I hope you are happy with your rhinoplasty; I'm sure people can't tell the slight imperfection that you can see.
I had the surgery almost 20 years ago and, and the effect has been permanent. My lower lashes have never been a problem since. 😁
It actually is done fairly commonly in dogs and horses when the eyelids turn inward they will rub the cornea and eventually can cause blindness. You surgically corrected what was a health issue, it was not because of vanity.
Yes I agree with your theory that changing your appearance is like reset yourself for a new beginning. I do that with my hair sometimes.

Interesting....in addition to Stephanies theory, i also think that looking for perfection in plastic surgery comes from lack of unconditional love in childhood. An adult with unresolved trauma will think that the apperance is their issue, but never get to the sattisfaction they crave...maybe they also feel the pain when they look in the mirror and want to change because it reminds them of the childhood, their parents, and they want to escape that.
I'm from Mexico and I was at a private school, had a classmate that had a rhinoplasty at the age of 11. Very surprising and sad how parents give their permission to those surgeries

I think she was naturally pretty. I went to college with a set of twins who looked like this and they had the boys at our D2 school eating out of their hands lol. One went into business, one went into nursing.

And Jennifer Lawrence is still an actress right now, and her career began in the early 2000’s, not the 90’s. I personally LOVED when Bella looked like Jennifer, because I think that Jennifer is absolutely gorgeous. I hate how Bella has completely ruined her face and is bound to start to regret this very soon.
Honestly, it's the logic of the situation that baffles me. She wasn't ugly before, she had tons of opportunity and I remember hearing she was an excellent student, she was near Olympic caliber equestrian, she came from money. Yet, she chose to undergo massive amounts of surgery to completely alter her appearance to participate in a profession that doesn't value her as a person only as an aesthetic and with a major expiration date. It just baffles me, what on earth could this woman and her family have been thinking to undergo this much pain, suffering and change for something so ephemeral when she already had so much

But some "broken standards" are actually made by the industry and they fool us into believing they are authentic. That reinventing theory... girls do that with hair very often. After a break up... I've had many friends (also me) who completely redid their look. Bright colors, bob cuts, black hair etc. I could see people with money reinventing themselves after experiences.. with surgery.

5:30 Trauma also just leaves you with a lot of innate fear and anxiety, it's very easy to get caught up in your own ideas of where pain could come from next and overcorrect, especially if youve been told all your life that you need to be the perfect performer
I love these video's. I'm 28 and a mother of 2 and living in the Netherlands. My little sister of 26 wanted to have a nose job since she was like 14 y/o. I always told her that her nose is just beautiful and it fits her. Also I have the nose of my mother and it is not straight like hers. But she is so insecure about it. But when I was 17 and was grocerie shopping with my best friend (who is really pretty) an older woman spoke to me about my nose. And that it was so unfortunately that my nose was so big and that a young girl like me should get it fixed. She gave me a card to call her plastic surgeon. She also just told my best friend how pretty she was. I always felt insecure about my appearance, like many girls I think. But that remark almost made me cry in front of everyone. I was so ashamed! And made me so self aware of my bigger nose. But now I see all these young persons do all these procedures. I have two little girls and I want them to love themselves just as they are. Im so happy I didn't do anything. If my girls would get my nose and they see that I alterated it... that sends a message to them. So please love yourself everybody. Your facial appearance has a history! Wear it with pride ❤

As a neuroscience therapist, yes agree these stars try to be a new person by changing their appearance.either from bullying, shaming or familial trauma as well as mgmt or pressure from their agent, can cause insecurities and can possibly explain why they have so much work done.
I am a mental health, professional and I do feel as though this could, for sure be a thing... whenever somebody has had a traumatic childhood event they could use any number of things to change something about themselves to gain or show control in an area that they can control, whereas the trauma was something that they had no control over. It can show itself in a number of ways such as OCD, changing their hair color, tattoos, piercings...all different kinds of things.
What’s absolutely horrifying is how young she is to have already gone through so many procedures. As beautiful as she is now, it won’t last long because you can already see the beginnings of her transformation into a scary Jocelyn Wildenstein. She will morph into that probably way before the actual Jocelyn did, possibly in her mid to late 30s.
no she won’t she is beautiful and she will stay that way. she will begin to age more when she hits 40 but for the time being she will continue to look youthful. she has lost some weight which has aged her slightly but guess what? she’s rich. she can get filler. she can get treatments. you all seem to wish that she will have some sort of tragic end so you can feel better about yourselves and morally superior. she is successful, she is beautiful, she is wealthy and she has everything she needs to help her mental health to become whole. you know what i see? a beautiful girl who will mature as she ages, grow, learn, change and thrive. that’s what i see.

What I’m trying to convey is that Bella has nipped and tucked and pulled her face so tightly already at only the age of 26 that she is well on her way to becoming another catwoman à la Wildenstein. You don’t think she will further tighten everything she had done already once age catches up to her and past procedures start to sag? The body dysmorphia will kick into high gear at that time and she will never be satisfied with a temporary fix and will continue to cut up her face until her end. The more money she has, the more she can get done. It’s a vicious cycle.

As to the topic, I feel Bella thinks she has changed for the better, and modeling contracts might be paying her now, but we don’t know her future yet.
I felt she & GiGi had different looks - one could say GiGi could have slimmed her face down & been better for it.
The world of modeling is fickle. What is in today is out next year.
I think of older modeling icons ie. Cindy Crawford - and I have no knowledge of her having all this cosmetic surgery by the time she was 25, or even 35 for that matter.
She seems to have aged gracefully.
Others, like Janice Dickinson did not. I believe she did go under the knife though.
I just wish them all peace and happiness, as both Bella & Kendall have terrible panic attacks & all the fame, fortune and plastic surgery doesn’t seem to offset those emotional situations.
At the end of their lives, will this struggle for being so perfect - be what comforts them, is it their life’s purpose? To me, it seems sad now. I hope they have good support systems and people that truly love them for who they are - not just their looks.
I agree with her. I’ve had a traumatic childhood and the way I cope with it is I’m super in control about my look. It keeps my anxiety under wraps. If I’m not in control about how I look I’ll have a full mental breakdown. Only had a bit of filler/Botox once cuz I can’t afford it lol

Franky, money has nothing to do with it. I see mental and behavior problems the most with filthy rich families. She's technically the one with the least drama in her family. Her dad has rape allegations, her mother Yolanda claims that her son in law hit her, her mother also urged her to get a nose job at 14 and told her sister gigi not to play softball so she doesn't look like a muscular lesbian. There's many compilations of Yolanda telling her kids not to eat. Gigi once called her mother saying she was dizzy from not eating and her mother told her to eat a few almonds lol. Yolanda also got mad at gigi for eating a bite of her own birthday cake. They're the cause of her mental issues. So how can they suggest mental help for her?
self-esteem may be part of it but the biggest motivation is keeping the money machine humming along. seems to be working thus far.

Honestly! It’s almost child abuse to have a 14 yr old come up to you and say “I’m bullied for my looks, please by me a new face” and then just BUY HER THE NEW FACE??? i think the psychological analysis is quite insightful and while we may not know the personal lives of these celebrities, plenty of us have definitely felt similarly about our experiences.
for me personally, i think altering my body and its appearance is an almost “reclamation” of it. i’ve never gotten plastic surgery and still haven’t ruled it out, but i just got way into body modification (piercings, tattoos) as a way to reestablish myself in a body that never felt like it was mine.
in a sense, i’m an adult now and i can do these things because i am in control.
Sometimes these actions also provide the individual an opportunity to distance themselves from painful memories.

Thank you Dr Gary for your great content. I think weight loss definitely has an effect as well. I can see this on my own face as I lost a lot of weight after a stressful period and had no surgeries but my face changed noticeably.
She's beautiful. I don't think there's a celebrity that has had as much surgery that looks this good. Her surgeon must be an absolute virtuoso.
Bella’s physical change through plastic surgery is definitely due to her mother’s advice and ambition for her children to follow in her footsteps, as seen on RHOBH when the girls were practically unknown. Yolanda continues to be a strong (if not controlling) and determined influence in her children’s life. And her aim was fulfilled. It seems that the modelling « industry » rewards the results of the procedures, combined with a complying overall physical (supervised) slenderness. Kendall Jenner is another such example. Finally, the money and the fame hopefully obtained in the end as a result of all endeavours, render common people’s opinion insignificant.

Yolanda actually ruined these girls lives. Imagine how natural and beautiful they would be now if not for their controlling mother, and mostly happier. These now women weren’t ugly or bad looking. Now they look strange. Like she said Bella looks 40 years old when she’s 26…that’s tragic really.
@@KittenBowl1 Had the girls (esp. Bella) not had work done, they wouldn't be nearly successfully in their career as they are now. Toxic as you think she may be, she gave the girls lots of valuable guidance that led them to a successful career. Plus, it's not just in the modeling industry that looks matter. Unless your job involves is not people-facing whatsoever, having good looks will have a positive impact. People are naturally superficial like that.
I think their mother is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in Hollywood. I don’t see her as a monster, or controlling; she’s always been into health food etc. if those girls wanted plastic surgery you can believe they could get the money from their dad if she wouldn’t let them. I don’t think that lovely , well Mannered woman is this is this horrible creature. The girls have seen beautiful women ( none as beautiful as their mom) everywhere where- look where they live. Shop in any wealthy neighborhood. They probably think it goes with the territory and hasn’t hurt any that went along financially.
‘Once you can’t pop your can’t stop’. Yes agree, I’m 34 and have had 16 procedures all up. Iv also had a lower and just now a mid face life. I should mention I’m a recovering alcoholic, and been left with premature aging and v poor skin laxity. Half of my surgeries have corrected this.

All the talk about Yolanda has hit a nerve with me. I specifically remember when I was 9yrs old and we were away camping with other family members at Christmas time. My aunt proceeded to put sunscreen on her child/my cousin and made a comment how much I don’t like my freckles. It made me feel sick and ashamed hearing my own aunt say that.
I’m 53 now and these days they have makeup to put on your face to give the impression that one was born with freckles. 😥
As a psychologist, I’m weighing in that is a lot of factors. She was targeted as the less attractive sister, and after all her mother was a model and viewed good. Looks as the Aryan blonde, blue-eyed daughter that had perfect little features. I think she also was very compared and I can just remember reading a quote that Gigi and Bella‘s mother said Gigi said she was so hungry. She almost fainted, and her mother‘s reply was “they need a couple of almonds but she’s in very slowly“ now as a therapist, a normal mother‘s response would be are you OK? Are you OK? Sit down and eat some thing you know and rest but that wasn’t her response. I think a lot of pressure was put on her and I think she felt like the ugly duckling, and most of the time people change their outside appearance, thinking that it’s going to go along with their inside appearance, and it doesn’t always work, so you just have to be as healthy on the inside as you are on the outside when you get plastic surgery because the two have to match because one alone will not make you happy. Bella also has talked about her great anxiety that she has and continues to have that she’s an anxious 99% of the time so I feel like her feeling like she looks better, make sure feel a little less anxious but it still hasn’t done that because she still anxious so mental health work is in order along with the plastic surgery

How did this become about race? Bella was unattractive based on her face not her eyes or skin tone. Her skin is white and her eyes ard blue so what is your point anyways? Hair can bleached if one wants to be blonde. She is still unattractive btw.

I really like this channel. It keeps me away from unnecessary procedures. When the doctor was talking about the pony tail lift. I was thinking it looked like her edges were thinning. Didn't know that a ponytail lift was even a thing! 😂

Bella's evolution breaks my heart. She was stunningly beautiful before all the procedures. All it's done is prematurely age her.
Great theories. I agree with you both. It’s a physical evolution. I imagine it’s hard to be “average looking” in the upper echelons. Lots of pressure.

5:58 I agree with Stephanie’s armchair diagnosis, I think there’s some truth to it. Also it’s really sad what Bella went through I’m sure her mom played a huge role in those comparisons. Its crazy cause there was absolutely nothing wrong with Bella’s nose and she was just as beautiful as her sister with her natural face
