On Affirmations - We actually end up lying to ourselves every day - when we say "i'm a failure" its just as much a "lie" as "i'm amazing" in terms of neither being a "FACT" when countering those Automatic Thoughts - so if we're going to lie to ourselves, I might as well pick the thoughts which help us feel better! I remember using rosen on my bow. My cousin was staying with us at the time, I'm going back years and he was at least ten years older than me, from Auckland... He would grab my violin and try to play it as a guitar. Obviously teasing but it did upset me. I wish I had continued but maybe the passion wasn't really there. When I worked in London you could sometimes here the philharmonica orchestra in the morning rehearse in the basement at the London Palladium. People in the street would stop and clap at the end 👏 My favourite film/show of all time is 'fiddler on the roof' I only recently found out is was called that because it was very precarious to balance on a roof and play a fiddle! - if you've never seen it, please promise me you will, one day.

This makes me want to play the violin again. I played from the age of 6 to 23, but then just stopped playing, for no particular reason.. I was never super talented, I started playing mostly because my dad wanted me to. But I did enjoy it, especially when I was good enough to play the things I wanted to play (a lot of Irish folk music towards the end). I’m 39 now and haven’t touched my violin in about 16 years, I doubt I could even hold the bow correctly now! 😂

I am a lawyer and trials are not dissimilar to the audition apart from the creative artistic aspect! I have picked up Many of your suggestions including practice and visualisation to chill out with the public speaking part of my role.

Adding extra notes between the sextuplets! I'm going to try that! Thank you!

Also thank you for talking about how 8 hours a day of practice isn’t the right thing to do cause it makes you burn out. I find the same thing with law school right now. I’m so grateful I teach because it gives my brain a break from law and cases and all that heavy stuff! Your brain can only do so much of one thing so long haha.

😍 I heart some Strauss. I am not sure if you know or remember but we played Don Juan together with the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra back in 2018. Funny because I am also doing an Audition for harp very soon and have to prepare Don Juan as well. 😊

I love your music vlogs. One of my favorites was your concert day vlog a long time ago. Gosh, I can’t imagine the pressure of auditioning. This coming from someone who could barely play in front of parents at a childhood piano recital. If you don’t mind my asking, is there compensation for the trial period if you don’t end up being selected? That seems like a lot of time invested.

Your trill in the Mozart concerto...🤌🏻 Was it number 4?

GIRL. If 2020 were a phrase........YES. Beautiful DJ and Mozart though! That’s my concerto of choice as well. It’s kind of ridiculous how music schools (at least in the states) really don’t educate too much about some of these skills, and they are SO important! Loved watching this video! (I’m Glamviolinist in IG ps 💕)

Ugh right?? We don’t really get it down under either! That’s why we made our online course haha and hope to develop the method into new mediums so everyone can get access to it!

Congratulations on passing the audition!!! The other candidate might be talented also but I’m sure you’re much more fun to look at beautiful girl 😄❤️. I was a professional dancer in my teens and 20s and I LOVED auditioning! I’m tall, 5’ 9”, so I didn’t book a ton of gigs but I had quite the life :). Married now, in my 30s, 3 kids and bad knees 🤣 but I wouldn’t trade those years for the world.

This was very interesting to get to know what you go through for an audition, I learned so much. Thank you for showing us your process before you you have that audition. I have to ask where did you get that gorgeous Anthurium crystallinum cushion? It is just to die for, it would suit me comfy chair in my jungle corner 😍.
Stay healthy, safe and sane with lots of love from Melbourne ❤️😊

Thanks lovely!! It’s from this shop: www.greenphilosophy.co/products/anthurium-clarinervium-leaf-throw-plush-pillow
They sent it to me in PR, and while I do love it, be aware they have terrible shipping costs to our part of the world 😩😩

I’ve always played piano/keys but in school I was the president of the band (I played low brass) and these pieces of music bring me back so much to the years studying them! question: is it difficult for you and Alex to practice in the same house? I’m sure sometimes you have to practice during the same time period.

It was in our apartments haha but now in this house, there are enough rooms we can get away from each other and practice in peace 😅
