    As usual Frazier, your sage advice is shown in a clear and useful manner. The baking advice was really helpful. I had no idea about putting more charcoal on the top with less on the bottom. Your food looked delicious.

    That breakfast looks wonderful! I brought home from work a pair of used welding gloves to use for camping. I can literally pick up coals by hand with them if I felt inclined to do so, but I just bring my long BBQ tongs for that purpose instead. I do use a lid lifter instead of pliers.

      It was wonderful. Eva wants to cook it again tomorrow. Thanks for the comment.

    I don't think your breakfast could've come out any better... it looks delicious. I may be a few years younger, a little more agile than you, but I'm looking into getting a dutch oven table for many reasons. Great job on this video, and of course with Eva's help. Thank you for sharing, Take care Frazier D. Friend. 🇺🇲

    Looks delicious! Our next investment for family car/tent camping is definitely going to be a Dutch oven.

      I love them. Use them at home and in camp. Wish I had discovered them when I was younger.

    Those tongs are tiny but with those great gloves I’m sure it’s fine. I use extra long 22” rosewood handled stainless tongs (on amazon) and I can skip gloves for all coal work. I keep my on-deck coals in the chimney and periodically add more and the long tongs are great for reaching in and getting coals out without feeling the heat so much. Thank for the great, thorough videos.

      Thanks Brian. Yes my tongs are small and my hand gets pretty hot without gloves . But I keep these just because they pack well with our other kitchen utensils. At home we use a chimney but don’t bring it camping because it would be another thing to pack. We use lighter fuel and never taste it in our food. Thanks for watching and your support.

    What does everyone like to do with the bacon grease? I never really know what to do with ours. It usually ends up in an empty beer can and then into the garbage

    • @moderntentcamping
      @moderntentcamping  Před 2 lety

      That sounds like a good procedure. Typically, we save ours in an empty tin can and use it to cook other foods during the trip. At the end of the trip, we clean it up with a few paper towels, put them in the fire ring and then burn them. It will be interesting to hear other ideas. Thanks for the note.

      @@moderntentcamping I do the same! Set some aside for cooking and use paper towels to soak up the excess and then toss them in the fire. I try to make bacon my first morning at the campsite so I have some good grease to cook with during the duration of our trip. Happy camping all!! 🏕️
