MMA is full of amateur boxers and golden gloves. Guys who couldn't hack it in the pros, and most of the ones in UFC are at the top of food chain like Garbrandt, Holm, McGregor, Gustafson, Miocic, Nunes, etc sorry to burst your bubble.

Lyndii Mey There is ways of quitting without really making it obvious for the casual fans. He knew that if he didn't punch back the ref had no options but to stop the fight, if he really wanted to continue he could at least throw a punch or two.

You say Paulie sucks, but Paulie defended his belt as champion unlike someone.... (Mcgregor). Give Paulie props as an analyst. You can't deny that everything he said was true. He said Floyd will break him. Floyd allowed himself to be hit by walking a bigger man down. Floyd did what Diaz did but more effectively.
Conor said he was getting paid for half of a fight, against a man who wasn't a quarter of the man he was. Floyd can't handle his power, he's gonna smash through his guard, but here's my favorite, he can't handle my pace. I hated the fight, it looked like a boring sparring session for Floyd. Conor had no power and never put Floyd in any kind of danger; however, the Conor nut-huggers will still worship him as their hero and savior. It's sad how little people think of themselves that they have to worship another man.
Lol it did look like light sparring for Floyd but I still liked the fight it was better than I expected. Conor has heart but is nowhere near an elite boxer.
If I ever need to explain to someone what "thirsty" means, i can just send them some Pauly clips.
Paulie will be giving interviews about Conor for the next twenty years. And guys like Luke Thomas who say they're sick to death of covering this fight will be having him on their shows every week to talk more about it.

I am a Conor fan and I think this was great interview. I respect Pauli's opinions and insight. I still think Conor proved a lot in that ring. Who else has the courage to do what he has done?

Hmm, I seem to remember after the first training session Paulie said he had good "above average" punching power and had "pop". Now it's changed to he "can't punch" and has "no power". Bit strange that.

Diaz's leg was injured prior to the fight though. Thats why nate did not take him down to the ground.

He got tired in the second nate diaz fight and came back.
He got his ACL torned agains Max Halloway and still won every round.

Thought I’d go back and listen to this. Paulie has some good points but this was the beginning of the biggest obsession in fight game history. Paulie did talk a lot of shit and realized that with a hand tied behind his back he could not do what he wanted to amateur boxer/ martial artist.

Did Paulie not watch the fight? Connor did throw in the last minute up until about 10 seconds before the ref stopped it. Also, he keeps mentioning the first Diaz fight. Does he not know that they fought twice and gassed in that fight too but dug deep in the champion ship rounds and stayed in it?

Connor tricked everyone knowing he cant box after sparring Paulie. But the dude can punch, landing an uppercut under the chin isnt the same as the side of the chin, and he didnt commit to it nor any of his punches. I think Paulie was right about the sparring session. He came in trying to help out Conor's camp and they used him because of his status as a 2 time boxing champ. Granted, he did talk a lot of smack so they wanted to get back at him and take advantage that he was out of shape. That said, Conor deserves all the respect in the world for stepping into the boxing ring. He took the loss like the champion he is. Now all he needs to do is defend his belt.

I was a Paulie fan in the past and he's an amazing analyst (even calling the Floyd fight, he did a great job) but I can't stand hearing these interviews anymore, it's the same thing again again.
