    The final will have 26 songs.

    My top 3 from this semi are:
    1. Finland
    2. Czechia
    3. Sweden/Norway (can't decide honestly)
    And regarding the question if it's fair that the big 5 qualify automatically just because they pay more money, yes and no imo. Yes because without them the contest wouldn't exist and no because they take place of countries who might possibly have better songs than them. It's not always a good thing to qualify though. Germany and UK have notoriously gotten 0 points in recent years so I imagine it's more embarrassing to get a 0 in the final than to just stay in the semi and not qualify.

    There are 3 live shows: 2 semifinals and 1 grand final. From each semi, the 10 songs with the most votes will qualify and perform on the grand final. On semifinal 1, the countries performing on that night plus Italy, France and Germany will vote, but these last 3, being part of the Big 5, don’t compete on the semi, they just vote. In semifinal 2 is the same thing: the countries performing that night plus the rest of the Big 5 and the winner of the previous ESC (Spain, UK and Ukraine) vote to decide de 10 qualifiers. The total 20 qualifiers and the Big 5 + Ukraine will then perform on the grand final and here, all countries vote. This year they made it so everyone from around the world can vote too, counting as another country, so you will be able to vote.

  • @Vevn18
    @Vevn18 Před rokem +5

    FYI this is how the entire Eurovision voting system works:
    All of the countries (except for the big 5 + the hosting country) get randomly drawn into one of the two semi-finals. This year there are fifteen countries in semi 1 and sixteen countries in semi 2.
    Only the countries who compete in semi 1 (and three countries in big 5 + host) get to vote in the semi. Last year both televoters and juries voted in the semi finals, but this year they've removed the juries. Televoters can vote for (not really, there is a limit at like 30) a country however many times they want, but only ten countries actually qualifies from each semi-final. Most people (me included) think that the first semi final is way harder this year, which makes it very hard for countries like Azerbaijan to qualify, because Azerbaijan's song is a very jury friendly one.
    In the final every competing country can vote and the juries have also returned in the final. The final consists of 26 countries.
    Also Malta and Latvia are very different.

    Serbia is about waking up from the matrix; that's the best way I can describe it.
    Top 10 from each semi progress to join the Big 5 + last years winner in the Final = totalling 26 act in the Final.
    I agree with the big 5. If any other country wants to take over the £12m costs each, they can be replaced.
    But no other country is willing (or able) to pay so they must qual. If it wasn't for the Big 5, there would be no contest.

    @ESC_ChrisM Před rokem +3

    One clarification - none of the big five are actually playing the first semi - they are the countries that vote in the first semi. And yes, it's fair about the funding, otherwise we wouldn't have this amazing global phenomena that is Eurovision :)
    This semi final is going to be so tough for countries to get through. The givens in my view are Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic Norway, Israel. Definitely out is Ireland (I'm from there, but we just don't know how to get Eurovision right these last 10-15 years), Latvia is out. So the other 3 who I guess won't go through are, unfortunately, Malta (I love that song), possibly Serbia (although as it's only public vote they may well get through) and either Moldova, Croatia or Netherlands. I think your favourite will squeak it just, and Switzerland will get through and Portugal. So the last two places are for two of Croatia, Netherlands and Moldova (I think Moldova will get it because this semi is only based on televotes - there is no jury vote, and Croatia will therefore go through too).
    The winner of Eurovision is coming from this semi, and in the final it'll be Sweden winning with the Jury (and Norway probs near top) and Finland with the public (Norway will do well here too) Overall winner, tossup for me, but I think it'll be Sweden.
    Azerbaijan gives early 2000 vibes. Finland essentially is about throwing off the facade of toxic masculinity and embracing your true self (I love that, but as it's not in English the live version may not attract as many votes as I'm expecting, but who knows), but lamenting you can only let go of your inhibitions and be yourself with the help of alcohol. But the struggle with bisexuality from the Norwegian entry is so relatable, the song amazing, and it's definitely top of my list. Queen Loreen is just, simply, the Queen (sorry Alessandra) - I listened back to back to Euphoria and Tattoo and bizarrely found myself liking Tattoo more - I was prejudiced against it because I love Euphoria, but Tattoo actually is much better than I first gave it credit for. I don't like the Israeli entry, I work all the time with Czechs and they don't like their own song, but I agree that it will be amazing to hear live (I'm going to the Jury show Friday night in Liverpool, so can't wait to see that). I also love Moldova and really hope they make it. I don't want to see Croatia live - it's too much for me. Nope nope nope. And I actually don't think it will do that well overall in the final, although I think it'll probably just make the final.
    Finally, Portugal, it's Portuguese and the language of the song is Portuguese ;)

    finland's is kinda about masculinity and the feeling that you can't be yourself unless you get wasted. the first part which is more typical käärijä style is hyper aggressive, shout-rap while the end is synth pop-y and happy because the pina coladas he had broke his cold front. it's also not supposed to be in support of getting black out drunk, but about drinking culture in finland
    also i think you keep mishearing germany's lyrics, it's not "satan sinner" it's "saint and sinner" and about how we as humans have so much potential for different characteristics and qualities, good and bad

    Big 5 - the contest wouldn't happen without their funding (it's a massive event - not just the competition on the night) and if they weren't in the final why would they want to provide the most money for it?? They wouldn't. The semi finals are also big live shows, you don't just vote on the videos - but they are not widely watched as much. If the Big 5 countries are not in final it could mean they stop putting up the money and eventually no contest. So, if you want Eurovision to continue you need them in the final.

    So that's the positive if they extend that to everyone else.

    I'm from Ireland - I don't know what to say - I'm sorry?. There really was no other better option. I watched our national vote - the one where we decided on our representative and all the other options, other than a hip-hop one, were no better, like they were the best option from the ones who entered.
