  • Hey guys here is a superrrr casual update after spending a few days in the hospital for preterm labor. I was 31 weeks and 4 days when this began, but I am 32 weeks and 3 days now. When it comes to pregnancy and premature babies I am learning that everyday of development counts.
Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great week!

I absolutely love that you published an "imperfect" video with unfolded clothes in the background. Sometimes I feel like I have to have everything perfect at home if anyone else is going to see it, and this video was soothingly down to earth and real. Thank you.

Hey Jess! You and I have spoken on instagram before, about my premature son! I gave birth earlier this year at 26+3. I just want to tell you that if you do end up giving birth to an early bird, I want you to know that you are going to be okay. It may feel like you're falling to pieces and that things are scary, but you are going to be okay. Your sweet little babe is going to be okay. She has two wonderful, loving parents and two wonderful, loving siblings and countless followers rooting for and praying for her. I really hope she doesn't pop out early, but if she does, the Lord is going to take care of you, her, and the rest of your family. Everything you go through is a testimony! You've got this, Mama!!! Rest up and if you need a CZcams break, go for it!

Thankfully after an IV and overnight observation the contractions stopped and I could go home, but watching your videos made me feel much more prepared and know to go in to get checked!!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am a physician and knew what the effects of Mg were but still when I had to be on them for over 24 hours it took me by surprise how awful I felt! The heat is so oppressive too and there is nothing you can do. It is great for other mothers to describe their experience because medical professionals know the side effects but not sharing them or understanding even how they are experienced makes it much harder on women during such a vulnerable time.

Jess! Thank you for being real. I’m sorry you got hospitalized with preterm labor that’s so not fun. My sister had her boys at 28 and 31 weeks so she has many stories like this and is way too familiar with mag. I had a 60hr labor myself and ended up with magnesium for like 30hrs during/after labor for preeclampsia which was sooo scary and they put me on a water restriction bc my sodium was low! I then got readmitted 48hrs after delivering with postpartum preeclampsia and I remember being in the ER and them telling me they were rebolusing me with magnesium and readmitting me on it for another 2 days. It is a horrrrrible drug! The first time I just felt super hot at first and then loopy. The second time def felt like I had the flu!
Also- I am an ICU RN and that nurse who told you no water is so mean! I would have at least let you sucked on a couple ice chips or some wet mouth sponges! The one who gave you the second steroid shot sounds sooo awesome.
Keep the videos coming. I’m praying for baby girl to cook to full term!

Yes my third pregnancy I literally felt I was sin active labor (August summer temps!) I was very dehydrated so much pain I swore I was laboring. I never thought not drinking enough water would bring on early labor. I was monitored several days. Until the pain stopped. I was able to deliver right at 40 weeks.

Watching this and it brought back so many memories!! I went into pre term labour earlier this year with my little one at 29 weeks, went in for cramping feelings and ended up having contractions and they swabbed me to check for pre term labour- This was positive. I wasn't dilated at all my cervix was completely closed . They gave me steroid injections (oh my god...so painful, in my bum given too!) on the magnesium IV etc like you. She was breech prior to this and actually turned head down and was in cephalic position ready to go...... long story short they managed to stop everything and I went home after a weeks stay at the hospital, and I actually gave birth at 38 weeks :-) They didn't think she would hold out that long and they warned me she could try and come again at any point, I actually stopped working then went on to maternity leave. But holy crap the steroids killed. and then magnesium drip was insane!!!! Heart palpitations so severe. Good going hun.....stay strong!

I’ve been having them since week 27. They told me I have “uterine irritability” but sometimes I think something is wrong because sometimes it really feels like full on labor. It becomes so painful I can’t talk. I can’t move. I just hunch over in pain. They always give me fluids and then send me home. But it really KEEPS HAPPENING. It’s your right to have water (or eat) if you choose too! They are being cautious, but the risks are so low (like so so low) of aspiration and it’s a human right to insist that you receive water. Its too bad when hospitals don’t tell you the risks and let you choose.

I’m 32 and 1 day and in the labor and delivery floor. I had my steroid shots about two weeks ago and ended up coming bc I was having contractions. But same as you I thought it was really bad gas but my mom told me to come in. So she took me. I came in at around 1:30 am and it’s now 5 am. I just had the arm shot that’s supposed to slow down the contractions and an iv.
This story is so funny at times especially when you said you were drinking the water from the cloth 😂
Let’s hope baby stays in longer bc I will be so sad if she had to be in NICU

Try not to touch the belly as it can stimulate the uterus! Stay safe :)

I was thinking exactly the same and I was surprised that almost nobody in the comments brought this up

That's so insane that being dehydrated can give you contractions and they wouldn't bring you water! 🙄 I'm pregnant right now and if I'm thirsty, it's already too late and I will probably feel crampy soon.
I'm so sorry you had to go through all this!!!!

Magnesium is the WORST! I had pre-eclampsia with my first and had to be on a 24-hr mag drip. I truly don't even remember the first 24 hours of her life. 0 stars. Do not recommend.

Every time the doctor gave me supplement of magnesium I trow it up. Right away so. I hope. I really don't need an iv. Of it 😂 my body really don't like it

Oh but didn't you say you weren't exactly sure when you conceived (excuse me if I misunderstood). I suppose there is still a chance that they dated you a little wrong. Just trying to look at it in a positive way.

Yes exactly! So that's why it is good she measured slightly bigger than they expected because maybe she is actually due a few days earlier than they said. :)

Why 90% or nurses never tell you what you will go through or side effects of whatever meds they put in you or what you will experience!😅 please if you are a nurse and read this spread awareness and tell your nurse friends too. We need that! It would be better for us if we have problems that we would want to avoid like the story in the video 🥴

I don’t understand why they use drugs to stop labor if due dates are just estimates 🤦‍♀️
