Thought I’d never leave Humboldt California but here I am back in the Seattle Washington area.
Today I am at Fort Worden State Park just outside the town of Port Townsend. This is my favorite State Park because of all that it has to offer.
For once, I remembered to bring a light and put it to good use walking through some of the dark and creepy tunnels around Fort Worden.

My name is Scott and in 2015, I bought a Ram ProMaster City to live in. Even though I didn’t know much about RV’s and campervans, I set about building the van out as a minivan camper. And in April of 2016, I moved into my minivan full time.
Over the years, I’ve learned you don’t need to have a big skill set to build your own campervan. And that living as a minimalist and utilizing solar power can be a less expensive way to live. I’ve also learned that a minivan can be a very comfortable home.

Splitting your time between Humboldt and the Puget Sound seems pretty ideal. Wherever you can get nice weather and fresh coffee.

Thanks for talking about beans. I eat a ton of beans and try to tell people that if they just eat them often, their body would adjust and no issues!! And beans are so cheap and healthy!! 🫘❤

I can’t eat them at all..
If I could I would probably only eat 10% meat in my diet
I can’t digest the complex sugars in beans. I also cannot eat seasonings that are made from seeds- paprika, chilli, mustard etc, I can’t digest the proteins at are released when the seeds are crushed..
When hummus became popular, I was like ohh I love it but I got sick, hummus is from garbanzo beans … I simply can’t eat any type of bean ..
Having complex auto immune issues is a downer .. a big downer.. I end up with inflammation issues which is all autoimmune…
Ohh how I wish I could have some lima beans and rice right about now !!!!!

The annual Discover Pass is well worth the price. Fort Worden, Deception Pass, Cape Disappointment, and Wallace Falls are some of my favorite parks in the great state of Seattle.

Fort Wardon is where the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed. They used much of the surrounding countryside also in the movie. The Mill scenes were done at the paper mill just a few miles away.
The lighthouse is the Point Wilson Light and it is an operational navigation aide.
I felt like I was going through a haunted house in that bunker! I kept waiting for something to jump out at me. 😬
Those bunkers are sooo scarey! There is no way I could/can/or would walk back into the darkness of one. I am in Enumclaw at the moment! This area is awesome! We have been here for a week exploring this area. The little downtown are is cute, they have a grocery outlet, QFC, and Safeway. Lots of peaceful residential areas that would suit your needs. Lots of pretty scenic drives. That u could could create content. Ther is a MMarket now on NW 15th Ave. one door away from a grocery outlet. I have been out there 2;times in the last month! From Georgia!

Thank you for the tour of Fort Worden State Park. What a cool place. I've always wanted to visit and planned to this fall but some responsibilities got a hold of me. I look forward to exploring it one day! Pretty neat how they have covered the random graffiti in different shades of green. It reminds me of an abstract painting.

Be careful with Deer,they have alot of Ticks around,and Snakes are looking for warmer areas,like Black Top thats warmer than the Ground,also sand warms up fast! I heard (many decades ago) that the folks picking the name for Washington state tossed around the name Columbia, like the river, but they thought it would be confused with the District of Columbia. Pretty funny, if it's true, considering the confusion between Washington D.C. and Washington state. Several people in my area fly the Doug-- the flag of Cascadia. That would solve a lot.

I enjoyed the park very scenic and the bunkers are very interesting to see and go in. Appreciate showing us as at my age I will probably never get to see otherwise thanks❤. I love bean burritos too a good source of protein as well as being delicious! Many people are ignorant so they speak before they think and that will hinder them throughout their life.
Perfectly wonderful use of 50:18 min. Omg I was having spooky movie visions when you were wandering thru the narrowing walls corridor maze whatever that was. It was pretty cool getting such a nice tour. Coffee, cookies, burrito all good stuff topped off with great views and your soothing voice. Safe travels and stay healthy.

It’s wonderful to see you back in my area again. Met you at a little van gathering in PT. We go to Fort Worden quite often. Went there recently to just sit on the beach near the LightHouse and watch the fishermen. Also love climbing around the batteries. It also amazes me how few locals tend to use the beautiful park once the summer season is over. Anyway, glad you’re back on the Peninsula!

Fort Worden is one of my favorite places! So beautiful. Get a beer at the old jail that was coneverted into a tap room.

2. Trader Joe cookies. I’ve never been to TJ’s. We have one in my town. I think I should go to at least try some cookies.
3. When you decide to ditch the barracks, and head up to the roof. The narrow corridors were making me very nervous. 👻 😊
4. You got a new refrigerator, for doing a review. Great salesmanship.
5. When you faced a snake, and what you did about that. It does seem pretty frightening. Glad you made it past that guy.

I love burritos, Quesadillas, and all the other cool things you can make with Tortillas. I would never make jokes about beans. The gas I'd be able to handle, it's some of the worse digestive issues I have with beans.
I love Yellow Bird, and I blame you for that... (Thank you so much!) ...what's so lovely is that the Serrano and Jalepeno are are mixed differently, so it's not just the heat, but also the extra flavors mixed in them. So I love them both!
I'm also so loving the State of Seattle line and am going to start using that myself. I love it!

Always enjoy watching your videos when you come back to my "neck of the woods." I used to live in Port Townsend (Port Angeles now) and spent 100's of hours at Fort Worden. Don't know if you know it but there was a movie filmed all around Fort Worden in 1981 called "An Officer and a Gentleman" with Richard Gere and Debra Winger. Might want to check it out if you haven't seen it. It's a really good movie. Lots if scenes filmed at the battery you were exploring there with the narrow tunnels.

Yeah here in Vancouver too is going to be quite cold, especially at night. Usually not this cold at this time of year. Used to go down and camp in that area, very beautiful.

I love that you like to spend so much time in the wilderness and what better place to spend it then a national or a state park we can think Teddy Roosevelt for that. Some of us Americans have a hard concept of no in a difference between Washington Washington Washington DC the country's capital and the state of Washington which is on the west coast bordering Oregon, Idaho, & Canada I like to learn some new daily keeps brain fresh
This video could have been released on Halloween, those bunkers are mysterious. Those narrow hallways are really restrictive, not to mention they look unpredictable. Setting up the camera on a tripod and then jumping out wearing a mask of some sort would have worked perfectly, a Halloween prank that would have scared all that were watching....hehe....take care.

Wow thanks for the tour of that Wa. state park it's beautiful especially with all the🦌. If you drive further west you could visit La push Wa. on the coast. There you will find the most majestic beaches with up to 9' tides. Thanks again Scott and keep on keeping on. 👍

Coffee-wise (I prefer cold brew) in King and Snohomish counties in Western Washington, I recommend Mighty-O Donuts in the Greenlake neighborhood of Seattle, Issaquah Coffee Company in Issaquah, and Woods Coffee in Bothell. I like the burritos and the street tacos at Cycle Dogs in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. Cheers.
My favorite spot on the Olympic Peninsula is Hurricane Ridge. Get some shots from up there on a clear day, you can see all the way to Victoria, BC! They also have ski lifts up there, not sure if they're operable.

My only complaint is opening in the bag..kinda small and hard to fit the scoop in. Next time I'm in there I'll check out that coffee you were drinking 😁👍

@StaticCamperVan Those tight turns on steep a mountain hillside with mirrors to see if it's clear around the corner are an experience. We head back up North soon. You might consider visiting Marrowstone Island one of these days. Not far from Ft. Worden and the Point Wilson lighthouse. Then there’s the ferry ride from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island. Opposite to Fort Worden is Fort Casey on Whidbey. All these places are worthy of a little “visitation video.” Sometimes your style reminds me of Huell Howser. He had a perpetual innocence and enthusiasm that always made me want to watch. Something to think about as you continue developing your online persona. There are enough little places to visit to fuel your vlog indefinitely.
I like "Seattle State"! I recently moved to the southwest, but imagine the response if I were to tell someone I'm from Bothell, WA. I worked in a hotel several years ago where I had a caller asking how far we were from the monuments. It took a minute for me to realize they were talking about the other Washington.

More deer than people sounds perfect and those battery structures are really interesting. I also love coffee and think it would be fun to explore the coffees of Western Washington state or Western Seattle state 😉, although I am a dark roast human.

I've been out there many times. Have you been to the Haunted mansion? The fairgrounds have a good camping and there is a park not far from there where you can collect sea glass. Love Port Townsend.

I grew up with Metropolitan Market, if you stay away from their overpriced, oddly bland ready to eat foods, you can find some interesting stuff. Thanks for the tip on the light roast. I'm going there for that, it's just down my street. And about the beans, if you start eating beans just off the cuff from not, you will be planet Jupiter gassy. If you eat them regularly, your system adjusts and that will go away. Fort Worden has the most amazing public showers/restrooms in the universe.

Scott it sounds like you are back to full power. I bought from your list Neewer Mini Pocket-Size On-Camera LED Video Light and it is my first light for video. I like it really well in everything that it does, adjustments, etc. There is only one thing I wish it would do is have a memory of the setting when you turn it off. I turned it off power button thinking of pause and when turned back on it is at full brightness. Not to big of a deal. Have a great day in your new local.

The deer know when it is hunting season so head to safe places this time of year.
Actually for most people if they eat foods that cause gas enough their system will adjust to the food and not create all the gas. I like to take papaya enzymes because if you do get gas it doesn't smell!
Just thinking of how boring it must have been when they were there to keep watch for the Japanese but they never showed up.
