Basically: the 16 is a desktop replacement for mac os people. The 14 inch is a normal laptop with normal laptop convenience and sacrifices.

been migrated to 16" it's great, you will have more space for working. especially when you need an online meeting and at the same time you need to take a note or read the point for presentation.
    nice content by the way

I've had both and prefer the 14" for its superior portability. Better in tight spaces like air travel or the 4 wheel office and for just packing around. At home I use a couple external monitors and use it in clam shell. If you have an iPad with usb-c you can tether the 2 and the iPad can be a second monitor. I've done that out of my home office with an 11" iPad Pro and it's a very nice solution vs the larger screen on the 16. Great comparison video.

5:37 lol but you are using some app that "removes" the notch by thickening all the bezels. I've looked at both at the store. The bezel thickness is identical between the two.

Hi Tech Guy Beau, thanks for such a practical video on suitable size of MBP. I have gone through tones of video on this topic but I was never sure what they wanted to say finally. The ergonomics associated with keyboard and the situation where we find ourselves using a laptop is very well demonstrated here. It helped me finalise the size for my new MBP. Thanks bro.😊

Great comparison video. I wanted the 15” M2 Air since those are on sale but 13” M2 MacBook Pro was at an amazing deal that I couldn’t pass up.
Best Buy has the 13” M2 MacBook Pro 24GB/1TB on sale for $1,299. The bigger screen would have been great but the specs at $1,299 is a must buy for all users.
As you mentioned, when I need a bigger screen I’ll just connect to any desk monitor.

I have the 16" M2 Pro and I constantly find myself looking at 14" Pros. the screen real estate is nice on the 16", but it is so cumbersome and it really isn't a LAPtop because it is too big and heavy on the lap. On the plus side: the cooling is better when I am running a lot of code, Lightroom, the odd bit of gaming... so the performance is quite a bit better if you need to push it. If it wasn't for the performance requirements I have, I would go for the 14" everyday.

    1) I have been taking the commuter rail to my office. I tried using both a 15 inch 2018 MB Pro and a 13 inch HP Elitebook while riding on the train. It is necessary for both notebooks to be angled downward on my lap such that the edge of the top of the screen just rests on the back of the seat in front of me. This allows for the screen to be perpendicular to my line of sight. The seat in front of me angles towards me. In these scenarios, neither notebook is comfortable to use. 2) The distance from the front edge of the notebook to the keyboard is a definite ergonomic issue when the notebook is used on a desk. However, angling the notebook by about 10 degrees or so helps dramatically in this regard.

Ever since I bought my very first laptop, a 17 inch Dell desktop replacement, I've never bought any laptop over 14 inches. Laptops are meant to be lightweight, comfortable to use, and portable. You don't want to be carrying a heavy brick around with you all day, everyday. Screen real estate, performance, etc. means nothing if you never want to bring it with you outside of your home and hate carrying it around.
Unless of course, you need a machine that is both a laptop and desktop all-in-one. But I promise you'll regret it once it leaves your desk.

    I love the 16 inch,
But I’m probably going to go 14 and get an external monitor.
Nothing slows down a workflow more than overlapping windows, even on the 16 inch, if you’re using it as your workstation,
Email, web browser, task manager, messaging, reference manager, maybe a document or other software,
It’s a pain in the ass for me at least, nothing beats a dual monitor set up for mobile productivity.
With dual stage manager to jump between different desktops quickly it’s perfect 👍.

For me, the 14" is really the sweet spot because most of my work is always done on my monitor with the laptop docked. But, if I ever need to do something on the laptop screen, I'll always use 1 window maximum. The 16" just adds extra heft and cost to something you probably also need to use docked with a monitor to get the full benefit from the more powerful CPU. Just my take.

Tried them both at the Apple store and had the exact same feeling about my hands trying to wrap around the laptop. I thought maybe it was because I was trying to avoid my palms resting on the gigantic trackpad. The 14 felt much more normal in terms of ergonomics. Still haven't decided though because I kinda like the huge screen.

  • @Burbanana
    @Burbanana Před 3 měsíci +1

Great video! Gotta love window management on MacOS lol. Magnet app works for this but it is not free. I still can't believe apple hasn't made their own snappy window manager so you can easily split windows. If Apple wasn't as limiting as it is today, I might have considered these new MB Pro's. Not to mention the constant anti-consumerism. Im still looking for a decent dev laptop thats not too heavy and has a decent screen size, being premium and all and that works with linux because I use both linux and windows. I think this video showed me that the 14 is the way to go. For a $100 less than a 16inch with nearly identical specs, I can get 1TB of space where I’d need to give an additional $200 for that TB on a 16 inch. I usually use an external monitor for my art already, so a 14 should be fine. Thank you!!!

I had 16" and switched to 14" for portability. 16" inch forced me to purchase a $650 Tumi backpack because it's so large. As a big dude with big hands I prefer the 14 inch. 16 inch was a monster but monsters come with their disadvantages. Don't really miss the 16 inch because I still have a decent laptop and it feels like half the weight (probably wrong on that but it just feels incredibly light). I bought the 16" because of the bigger is better idea, and it had better speakers, insane battery, but I don't want to pull it out without a desk... Can't really Lap the 16". Kind of indifferent. Don't feel like I made a mistake.
