    Hi. Thanks for the comment. I try to keep my work area clean and tidy for two reasons. 1- It makes my work more efficient and 2- it is better for my viewers if they aren’t distracted by mess and clutter on my workbench.

    i would swear that a machine set rivit is much more solid than a hand one i find that to remove one set in by machine takes a lot more effort than to remove one put in by hand. any tips for handling a bulky item your trying to rivet?

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree, Machine-set rivets are stronger.

    Can you advise how to avoid the circular depression marks around the rivet from the dies?

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes. This means you are using the wrong size die. Use a smaller one and there will be no depression marks. It might also be that you are just using too much pressure. Try a lighter touch.

      @@clairewelsman1489 Hi. There are many different types for different snaps, rivets, eyelets etc. They come with an oil coating, which you need to rub off before using.

    In a pinch could a double cap rivet be set with a larger size of die? (say a 10mm die setting an 8mm?) is the cap was placed on the post prior to pressing?

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  Před 3 lety +2

      It will set it but it will also leave a ring around the rivet dome.

      @@HobbyBloxs in the leather?

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  Před 3 lety +1

      @@deviantmyotis Yes. Because the setting tool is bigger, the edge of the tool will be pressed into the leather and will leave a ring around the rivet head.
