NEW! SPEED COMPARISON | Missiles czcams.com/video/tgpHNDLsGlE/video.html
Wish you made this defining speeds by power type. And for fun ad the 4-8-8-4 big boy type for actually have more speed than other smaller steam locomotives
« kph »
Ok good bye, could had been a great video…
The train you use in the 3rd step is it the Spanish Talgo? 8:08
Thomas is actulley based on a real british tank engine locomotive Called the E2 class steam tank engine locomotive.
The most shocking thing about this is that Thomas The Tank engine could only achieve 40mph.
9 year old me : 😮
He’d still catch you.
I accidentally had the speed at 1.5x without relizing, so for me instead I was like "holy hell look at Thomas chuggin"
Thomas is based of a LBSC E2 tank engine, wich were shunters and they wasn't made for pulling trains. But actually their real top speed was 70mph
70 mp/h*
Episode 3 was a horror show but the calmness of the driver was reassuring.
HERE HERE
The driver was sleeping bro.
Bro had plot armor or something, he knew he was gonna be fine
The driver was dead, with seat belt on. 😁
Да, реально.
У меня чуть сердце в пятки не ушло😅
Being inside a constantly accelerating train at the end there was simultaneously terrifying and fascinating
❤❤gameovar1
This is one of the coolest 3d animations I've ever seen. The way you make us go from 5mph up to 375 so smoothly was a thrill!
1:06
Please up the video quality to 4K60fps :)
Its history and science combined in one video! 👊😃🥹😚🫡😎💞🇺🇸
the ups and downs were really annoying tho
Huge props to the train operator and cameraman in episode 3 who risked their lives speeding the train up to 5000 kmh and even going off the tracks without crashing.
Put it on the moon and speed it up a tiny bit and you have an orbital railgun.
Back To The Future 😁
*Yawn* your best friend is the copy and paste option huh? Boring little abortion
The thing that shocked me was how well the wiper blades where staying on!
You ain't funny
Really interesting how the old trains worked, you could literally see the gears in action. I feel like trains are relatively underrated after watching your aircraft speed one, and it amazes me that that Maglev by Japan could reach that fast! Wonderful video.
For an even better sense of the speed, there is a video of the TGV doing the 570 km/h run on youtube, that includes some video shot from a bridge crossing the rail. It's unreal how fast the train appears and disappears!
@@AIRDRAC hell yea i constantly watch the pov of it covers ground unrealisticly but hypnotic
@@AIRDRAC and that was done in 2007, trains really need to take priority over planes where possible, they're cheaper, safer, way more energy efficient and in some cases even faster because of all flight procedures and that stuff
@@panzervpl9406 Trains are not safer, excluding acts of suicide and terrorism, commercial aviation was the safest mode of travel in the United States, with 0.07 fatalities per billion passenger miles, whereas trains it is 0.43 per billion passenger miles, Excluding pedestrians and others not on trains its 0.15 per billion passenger miles, still over twice aircraft.
876 deaths to Trains
549 deaths to Aircraft
Aircraft is cheaper and faster after 300 miles, New York to Toronto on an aircraft takes about 90 minutes plus a generous 4 hours for commute, preflight and disembarking, the same trip would be 12 and a half hours via train.
Another example is Boston to Washington is about 4 hours total, with a train ride being 8 hours, $117 for airplane, $267 for train.

@@Mr_TootyTrains in US aren't safe. Come to Europe or Asia and you'll see the difference.
I like how the operator in the last train just chills while breaking a world record 😂
He got knocked unconscious buy the G-Force
@@HunterZeGreat Is this a Star Wars reference?
TGV at 574.8 km/h is 16 years later still impressive af, maglev barely overpasses it, and it's good old rail&electric
🇨🇵 🦾
@@Sinqhnt the maglev or transrapid went onto market 33 years ago. the first prototype is 53 years old. and still meglev record is 23 years old.
@@eve-llblyat2576 It's a shame they abandoned that project. It had so much potential.
Transrapid 🇩🇪
Yeah that was a controlled and forced look for the record. Thats not the operative Speed of the train. Its a useless record, more like impratical
I dont think your animation is appreciated enough. Clean af and looks better than some video games 🔥
Sense of speed is off
You can see by slow trains in episode 2 that they go way too fast for such slow speeds.
@@dr.jillalicecooper2587 found them "quick" too, but how do I know if it's a video error or a perception issue?
Perhaps the huge difference at the beginning, between the locomotives running at 8 km/h and 40 km/h, makes this impression without being a video production error.
Japan doesn't even have operational maglev train that 600kmph speed train is still in prototype phase wheras china's Shanghai maglev is in service for years and within 2024 their next gen maglev will be operational that has the same speed of 600kmph
And tgv runs at 300kmph speed it cannot maintain its top speed whereas maglevs always runs at top speed throughout the journey
@@Superpo0oper2020 Yes, the choice of speed was a bit arbitrary, some were service speed and some were maximum.
Insane how much work you put into each of those videos!! It really shows

That was magnificent....
No one can beat speed of cameraman
True😂
He was in a airplane
Cameraman:🗿☕
Not only just top speed comparison, Red Side also placing most logical train tracks
The episode 3 train went so fast the track disappeared! The animation was incredible as always, I can't believe how detailed the models are, can't wait for more
true words man i cannot wait for cars comparson
Get out of here, Thomas 0:59 😂

I thought perfect animation doesn't exist, then I saw your videos.😎👍
Now imagine if a game had this quality of animation
@@shadowflame8647, Yeah, maybe on RTX 9090 would be good, at 720p 30 fps
Okay, by that time and GTA 6, released 4 years ago (for RTX 9090) will be pulling at ultra 4k, because it probably will be a world standard and in 360 fps
White text on light backgrounds is huge and obvious fail.
@@shadowflame8647 This would be extremely underwhelming graphics for a modern AAA
Fun fact: The train at Episode 3 is accelerating with a constant rate of a bit over 1.4 g. To stand on the floor at this rate of acceleration, I calculate that you would need to incline forward at an angle of 35 degrees from upright position.
bigger props to the cameraman then
That's easy task for Michael Jackson
@@MigghtyDHdang right 👍😂
1g would be 45 degrees, surely? So 1.4g would be 35 degrees from horizontal?
@@weldeddaydreams I had calculated that to be 35 degrees from vertical. I may be mistaken though.
Episode 2 had me worried for 2 reasons..One whether the train station tunnel doors would open early enough since the incoming trains were getting faster..and two whether the trains in front will be caught up by the trains from behind since they were getting faster and were on the same tracks😅
❤❤gameovar1
Imagine standing on a narrow platform with trains rushing by from all sides at such speed. That's what's really scary. You'll probably get sucked into the tunnel.
9:48 Ah yes, the famous Mach 4.5 train.
Not just the animation but also the sound effects is also equally amazing ❤🔥
Sound effects did not match their real counterparts at all. They sound nice but real version of those trains sound different especially maglevs. I think I heard rail knocking on maglev sound... yeah.
@@cpypcy I think most of the people won’t have idea about the real sound of all trains but the sound effects feels pleasant to ears 👂
4:01 - Wow that train is Fuxing fast!
Get it? Fucking, Fuxing? Haha
Cameraman🗿🚬
No rail machine can beats the powerful, classic looks of a steam locomotive. Absolutely great monsters.
❤❤gameovar1
9:33 the rail ended there, the train was still going
We don't need rails where we're going.
By the time trains go 5000kmph they will probably be hovering
Hhahahha lol
I love these comparison videos; especially ones depicting speed. 'Wish there were more things to compare. Animals? Bullets? Rate of growth? Geological growth/decay?
I would also like it if the 'facts' for each new item were in a bigger font and/or higher contrast.
Thanks for all the work you do.
Road and water vehicles?
Maybe have a faded black bar across the bottom that blocks out the font row entirely, something to give it opacity against the bright scene and colors. At least they are pretty readable in Part 1 on the trains though while still conveying just how darned fast they're going.
Planes? Rockets? UFOs?
I love all those ideas
Cumshots speed🎉
This looks amazing and was really coom to watch as both a railfan and historian. Thanks for putting this together!
Same, as someone who is interested in both history and trains.
Americans be like "Wtf is a kph, and we dont need high speed bullet trains"
9:05 When I disable speed limit in space engineers.
At 08:35, looking out the window at the city going by so quickly, thats how fast an F35 flies...1900kph/1200mph... what a machine
In terms of speed, the F35 is not particularly remarkable.
@@Petitmoi74 thats a vague statement, its not fast compared with other elite fighter jets, but its immensely fast compared with all other man made moving objects, anything that can comfortable fly at 800 knotts is incredibly fast
@@danielrichardson4868 Of course I was comparing the F35 with its peers. It seemed to me that you were using this fighter jet to talk about a plane known for its speed...
7:48 the sheer speed of the trains made the guy watching them transcend straight into heaven
cameraman belike : I'm the fastest 😂😂
9:27, I wish this speed was possible but thanks to an atmosphere, the train would probably burn up before it reaches its destination 😞
What if it it’s in a vacuum tube like the one Elon Musk is proposing
@@lavaboatcubesupportsukrain7539just wait another 60 years maybe we will find out 😂

In that last scene, I think the windshield wiper would have blown off by 1,000 mph, LOL.
The animation is better than the video content itself, insane work dude... 💯🔥
9:40 the driver's face at this moment: 🗿
This is my favourite Red Side video yet. The work you guys do is incredible. Thank you for the energetic and informative value of everything you do. Keep up the great work.👍🏻❤
Wow, such incredible animations! Really outstanding work!

Absolutely AMAZING! Episode 3 was just great. Definately the best one so far.
Can't imagine how his machine could render the surroundings at higher speeds in ep3. I've only played racing games and they start ignoring textures after 400kmph lol. Well done animating all of this tho 🤯🙏
at 9:33 the rails have gone away, maybe because of the high speed but still a smooth animation👏

Passenger is okay 😂😂
Loved the concept of different episodes. Your animation is phenomenal
The Acela is/was made by a Canadian/French/German consortium.
Velaro RUS was built by Siemens in Germany. A few other trains here are also part of the Siemens Velaro family: ICE 3, RENFE Class 103, and CRH380B. Though to be technically correct (the best kind), ICE 3 isn't part of the Velaro family but rather its progenitor.
❤❤gameovar1
The amazing thing about these trains is how these tracks are able to support and withstand such stress from these high speeds trains. Amazing engineering!!
Amazing that all these locos with different gauges can run on the same line!!!
The sounds of trains are always a calming one. The music in this video really matches
Wow, I didn't realise that the TGV's operating speed was the same as the RECORD for the E5 Shinkansen. Obviously, the new maglev Shinkansen is much faster than that, but I didn't think the difference between the fastest TGV and the fastest Shinkansen would be that big! Goes to show that how good the bullet train service is if it's still revered like it is even though it's far outpaced by the TGV and many newcomers in terms of speed. And the TGV is bloody impressive, to think you can just jump in one and go 320kph.
TGV downside is it often shares tracks with slower services whereas shinkansen runs on a dedicated separate network.
@@SmokeyBCN that's not a downside, that's a feature. Since the Shinkansen only rides along dedicated tracks, if a high speed line hasn't been built next to where you live, you can't benefit from it. However, the TGV has dedicated lines that then connect to other lines, which means that even provincial towns benefit from high speed service to their doorstep.
The bullet train works with the linear geography of Japan, but the TGV adapted the concept to France's much more spread out cities.
Oh, and when out of the high speed lines, the TGV still has priority, so isn't slowed down by freight trains.
The TGV has some dedicated high-speed lines, that link with regular train tracks. So just like a car starts in the city and can take the highway, the TGV can start at regular train stations then enter a high speed track, then leave it to go to a city. Once on a high speed track, the train is not slowed down by regular trains
Just look at french lgv network map to know which ones are dedicated
And it's own record is in between two maglev train speeds. Achieved in 1990s
As always, you never disappoint, thank you for the super extra work on the vids that gives them realism
Bro this is the most chill and satisfying video on YT! Wtf
Amazing animation... this is fantastic! You guys deserve an award!
When someone has this much talent at doing this kind of thing, it definitely gets acknowledged by the world around them. Sir - Mam, absolutely brilliant 👏 🏆
Minor correction:
FuXing is the name for a series of Chinese high-speed train, the train featured is CR400A.
Shanghai Magleve is actually German Transrapid 08. Soon it will be 20 years of normal operation since October 2003.
I also was about to mention the fact, that the Shanghai Mag-Lev is originally from Germany. It was developed during the 90s, but unfortunately, the whole mag-lev project was abandoned in Germany because of a horrible accident, that wasn't even related to technical malfunctions. This could have been an amazing way of travelling in Europe...
@@IndigoRyu Although Maglev was seemed the future trend. It was born too early, or in other words, too expensive. (Also, it was still quite loud, protest from residents along the planned route was a major factor in subsequent cancellations)
The Chinese had an ambition of building a 180km line to Hangzhou (nearest major city), which got shortened to about 60km connecting two Shanghai airports. Then it was shortened to as-built (you can see that Longyang Road station was almost in the middle of nowhere at the time, and station design doesn't really look like is a terminal.
The Chinese even went to the length of assembling a knock-down kit of the Transrapid 08 train (the other three sets were directly imported) as the first step of importing/learning the technology...and nothing came from it...
Their study was at the time Transrapid is just not fast enough to justify the power and infrastructure cost when ICE and Shinkansen can provide nearly as fast service speed, the rest is history.
After the accident, and with China backing out further investment, Siemens saw no more value of continuing Transrapid. While the ICE (also made by Siemens) sold very well to the Chinese and the Russians. (Later the CRH380B, based on ICE3 was actually the workhorse for the Chinese HSR. CRH380B had ~40 more sets than the second place, CRH380A, derived from E2 Shinkansen.)
Since 2017, The FuXin series came alone and started to replace both, with design speed at 400kph, they can run at 380 max service speed. Only 40km/h less than the Maglev)
Shanghai and Hangzhou are connected with 350 km/h capable lines in the 2010's (310 km/h service speed in 2019), while the two airports are going to be connected in 2016 with express trains derived from FuXin CR200 series, running at 160km/h max service speed.
The Shanghai Maglev reduced speed to 300kph most of the time (official reasons were due to power and noise concerns), but there are 4 pairs everyday that will run at 431km/h. Experience learned from operating/maintaining/building the Shanghai Maglev didn't go to waste. You can see Transrapid's shadow in the 600kph Chinese Maglev released press information for (none built yet)
Amazing CG! The last part is crazy!
Amazing! Thanks for the ride
@9:25 I'm surprised you didn't show the sonic boom in episode 3 (from the train driver's perspective), the speedo shows well over 1,192 kph which is Mach 1.
