- The much requested sequel! Scream 2!! Do we think this is a worthy sequel? the fact that all the Scream movies are directed by Wes Craven allows for a nice continuity, but could any of the sequels be as good as the first??

The cameraman is one of the smartest characters in horror movies. He hears there is someone going around stabbing people, so he leaves town! Sounds logical to me lol
Yeah, Joel is EVERY African American viewer, myself included. Like, why am I still here when folks are being MURDERLATED?!?!? I’m out!!!! Lol
@@SansMerci1013 this line from Scary Movie seems appropriate: “Reporting live for Black TV! White folks are dead and we getting the fuck outta here!” 😂
@@NeilGartshoreFifeFlickFanatic Such a funny movie:
"How close were you to the victim?
Real close.....until the roofies wore off.
Then she woke up, talking bout pressing charges. So I just pulled my tongue out of her ass and left." ^^
I’m pretty sure it was the actors suggestion on set for the character to do this. Wes shrugged and said sure!
I think of his line all the time ; gutted / slashed.... THE GUY AIN'T IN THE UNION NO MORE.....I'm gonna go get some donuts, Prozac, some crack, special k, some x (not Malcolm) and I'll be back when y'all start talkin bout somethin a lil more 'saved by the bell'-ish. Here's your footage .... SEE Ya.... Wouldn't wanna be ya
Fun fact: Sarah Michelle Gellar took the role without reading the script. This was one of the biggest points in her career.
Which is crazy since she was in so many beloved cult classics like Buffy and Cruel Intentions. Love her so much 💕

In defense of ghostface always tripping over everything his outfit is literally the epitome of hhat not to wear for Halloween safety. Limited eye sight in the front, zero peripheral vision and a long gown like bottom that is easy to trip over yourself. Ghostface most likely can't even see half the stuff he is tripping over.
Also look at who has been ghost face. Theyre all normal ass people & it's not like they're super powered freaks of nature like Jason or Michael. Just speaking on Stu and Micky who were the muscle of the first 2, it makes sense they'd be clumsy af cause they're both very unhinged characters.
Now Stu being a clumsy ghost face masks sense😂
If you’ve ever worn big heavy work boots you’d understand. When you first start wearing them you bump into stuff and kinda stumble around and sometimes it’s really easy to slip on smooth surfaces that are wet
@@patr1ckk3ll3y Yeah apart from Mrs Loomis and Roman all the other Ghostfaces were teenagers. And with the way the costume is it makes sense they'd trip over stuff.
Well, it is a comedy after all
I like the running gag that dewey always gets stabbed but survives
at one point he was originally going to die from being stabbed but they changed their mind

You guys were kind of illustrating the character's point when she asked why the girl in the Stab movie had to be naked and you just dismissed it as "because she's getting in the shower." The whole point is that we saw the reality of that scene play out in the first Scream movie and there was no nudity or shower involved at all. The in-universe screenwriters for Stab changed the events to include a shower for the express purpose of having their character be naked. The shower isn't the reason for the nudity; wanting nudity was the reason they included a shower. Wes Craven was highlighting the arbitrary nudity included in horror films with that moment.
Obligatory boob shot, is what they're called and, yep, they're considered staples in horror. Or were during the height of the slasher movie era, the 70s and 80s. Afterwards, it was just about gore.
Love them both but Shaun tends to miss stuff when he tries too hard to sneak a joke in. He catches everything when he's not going out his way to joke on the movie
And then scream 3 does the shower thing... but it feels totally unintentional... just stupid. In scream 2 it pokes fun... she is making popcorn and taking a shower at the same time 🤣
Couldn't have said it better!
EXACTLY!
The scream guy falls over because he has a mask on. I think it's pretty funny and accurate.
Remember all those Halloween safety videos we watched as kids? The entirety of the ghost face costume is the epitome a dangerous Halloween costume.
It's ghostface
It also basically shows Ghost face is human, which is usually more terrifying than a supernatural killer. It's a person willing to kill you.
@@majdjinn5042 i think supernatural killers are more scary cuz they can come back to kill you but humans die

Personally I find supernatural way scary also. I've literally seen a man shot for scuffing shoes...boy.

[Has anyone ever noticed]
Mrs Loomis says to Gail “I was at your seminar…in the front row…asking all the questions,” and Gail says “I thought you looked familiar.”
This is probably Mrs Loomis’ tactic of making Gail not realize it’s really Billy’s mother. It’s a psychological trick. She knows that Gail could recognize her, so she comes up with a (probably) false story of her being at one of Gails seminars.
I really think this perspective should elevate Mrs Loomis as a killer.
They put Sarah Michelle in heels because she was so fit from all her Buffy stunts that they had to slow her down during her chase scene because she kept outrunning the killer in the previous takes. I remember Wes Craven said this.
I always wondered why her character was wearing high heel boots while chilling on the couch haha
Hallie was supposed to be one of the killers originally. She was suppossed to be Micky's secret girlfriend. The vibe they were going for was a take on NATURAL BORN KILLERS of a couple trying to gain fame through murder. But The Internet got hold of the script and it leaked online. This was one of the first times Hollywood realized that online spoilers could ruin or change a film. Now they take a lot of steps to prevent this but in 1997 they didn't have a clue. So they changed the whole film instead.
I think I read somewhere these leaks were just fake and made up by the studio. Also I think having Billy's mom was the best choice, the motive of Mickey and Hallie would have been a let down compared to part 1.
@@mielthesquid6536 there's a scream documentary where the crew is talking about it themselves though so I think it's legit. And it was a whole different script, not just a different killer
In the director's commentary, they said that the original killers were going to be Derek and Hallie.
@@mielthesquid6536 It was the filmmakers that said the leak was fake in order to cover themselves at the time. I can't remember if I watched or read about Williamson talking about how much pressure it was having to rewrite the script again while they were filming, especially because it was already a quick turnaround because 2 was shot and released just 1 year after the first.
That is not true that was a dummy script
The Tori Spelling references when Sid said she didn’t want Spelling to play her in the film of her story.
That dude did call the actual killer at one point but that’s because he basically called half of the characters lol
“I’m fed up with this world!”
*Closes door as carefully as possible*
Loved the reference to The Room!
Your reactions to Dewey being stabbed are so appropriate 😭
because Dewy will be revealed as the mastermind in scream 5
I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the cat and mouse scene with Gail and the killer into the sound studio, that is still one of the tensest scenes ever. So well choreographed with the split seconds between her being discovered.
Also Ghostface is always falling over because the mask is meant to be really difficult to see in, which was a complaint by the stunt team that got worked into the whole franchise.
That’s actually a really good point
I agree! Her winding through those walls is everything.
yess the sound studio scene is my favourite scene in this whole franchise.
i will never forgive them for not making the sorority sisters the killers
Rebecca gay heart that would have been kinda funny since she was the killer in urban legend. But I heard she killed somebody on real life In a car accident.

Also, great you gave a shout out to Nickflix - probably the nicest guy in YT reactions.
yeah, i think someone could have called that one if they recognized Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne and reasoned that she's too famous to take a minor role in a horror sequel.
The older British guy, David Warner, is the same guy decapitated in the first Omen movie.

Yes!! There are tons of cameos in these! Love it!
Dewie surviving is pretty much the same story for the first two movies. For both it was planned for him to die but Wes got a shot of him on a stretcher just in case test audiences wanted him to live.

True story, lads: when I saw this at the cinema, it was opening weekend in North London and there were three clearly terrified young girls in the row in front of us. The audience was probably the most hyped I've ever seen over here and really into it for the opening scene where Jada Smith is killed in the cinema. Thing is though, just as she's standing up in the aisle getting stabbed on screen, someone dressed as Ghostface and holding a kitchen knife grabbed one of the girls sitting in front of us and dragged her out into the aisle. The remaining girls freaked out and threw their popcorn all over us while we all just sat there looking at the screen/looking at the aisle/looking back at the screen where someone is being killed while people are cheering watching someone being killed in a movie, in a rapidly increasing state of panic and uncertainty, all the while the poor girl being dragged away screamed her lungs out...
..'Ghostface' finally let her go, did a very theatrical bow, and legged it towards the exit to cheers. Probably the best cinema experience I've ever had but damn, that poor lass must have been scared out of her mind, bless.
That is so completely fucked up😂😂😂
So was the ghostface one of their friends or just a random guy? Anyways, hilarious story😂
@@xvisionproductions Never found out but from the way they dashed for the one-way exit near the screen, my guess was a staff member who'd figured it'd be a great (and appropriately meta) way to hype everyone up. If so, it worked..!

@@markmcfc1062 I'm far too lazy to type all that shit out on a lie, kid. It happened.
This is why I've been dying for you to watch Scream 2 because it's one of the best horror sequels ever. I could talk forever about these movies because they are so self referential, but they're also a love letter to all other horror movies. You need to watch Halloween H20 because even it pays homage to the Scream movies.
Sidney has the greatest arc of any Scream Queen/Final Girl put to screen. All the PTSD stuff in the Halloween 2018 reboot & H20 was undoubtedly inspired by Sidney and the journey she goes on in Scream. The Scream franchise is worth continuing for the character development alone. Something EXTREMELY rare in slasher franchises.
“Who’s going to tell us shoot the law of horror films now?”

😭 so true! When Randy died I felt like my tour guide ditched me in the museum.

This is my favorite Scream movie! I think it's the funniest, while still being suspenseful and has the best cast.
Kevin Williamson deserves much of the credit for the series.
Kevin Williamson wrote "SCREAM", "SCREAM 2", and "SCREAM 4" (except the Entire Hospital Ending, That was written by Ehren Kruger who also wrote "SCREAM 3").

Scream 2 is my favorite, but there's a special place in my heart for every Scream movie with the core 3 characters. Long live Sidney Prescott!
"You've asked for this so much that I no longer want to see it" is a wholeass mood. Also, an interesting note: the identity of the killers got leaked before the premiere of the first Scream, so for the second one, none of the actors got the script section of who the killer was until a couple of days before filming. So all of the actors were able to play their scenes with complete innocence because they didn't know if they were the killer.
this is a self aware meta masterpiece

Scream 2 is the best out of the trilogy! hands down, no cap 🎶💯🔥
This one is almost the empire strikes back of the scream movie. That dialogue is by far the sharpest of every film. The writing in these movies are incredible, especially for the late 90s. The movie analyses and dissects 2 decades worth of film in 2 hours. Sidney and mickeys back and forth is how wonderful dialogue as is CiCi’s scene with ghostface. The whole idea of dissecting sequels and just film in general is perfect for fans of film and it’s a movie you can come back to again and again and analyse it. Love this one.
Congrats on 50k lads.100k by the end of the year.
PLEASE do a comedy horror section and do scary movie, Shaun of the dead, Tucker and dale, etc
Seconding Tucker and Dale! I’m the college kid who impales himself on the tree - would love to see you review the movie!
It's funny when Jamie Kennedy's character attempts to correct the Joshua Jackson about Ripley's quote from the movie Aliens. Josh was actually correct when he said the line "Get away from her you b*tch" and Jamie says "I believe the line is "Stay away from her you b*tch"". I didn't catch that until much later after the movie came out.
Except nobody corrects Randy. In fact, the whole class agrees with him, including Josh Jackson who says "You knew what I meant." So maybe in the Scream Universe, "Stay away from her, you bitch" IS the correct line.

Best Scream movie. Most polished.
The great thing about the Scream series is that every film is quality, and entertaining. They each play off of the trope of horror film franchises even after the first one with commentary on sequels, trilogies, and remakes. There's always a new perspective, but they all contain that killer who-dun-it mystery aspect that I love.
Dewey lives because of Cotton showing up and helping. So at first it’s like “How in the hell did he live”. But you remember Gale seeing Cotton covered in Deweys blood and it makes sense.
Can't wait for them to try and guess who the killer/killers is/are in Scream 4. 😅😅
So glad to have discovered your channel! You're so entertaining. I saw all four Scream films in the movie theaters (I was 15 when the first one came out), and even though I know the first one is the legit best film, the second one is the most re-watchable for me. Many more set-pieces, many more kills, the suspense in the cop car escape scene, the emotional pull of Gale and Dewey (and knowing that they were falling in love in real life, even if it didn't last), the shock of Laurie Metcalf as the main killer (interestingly enough, a few years ago, she went on to play the Kathy Bates role in Misery in a Broadway production in New York, and she was wonderfully unhinged).
I absolutely love all 4 Scream movies. This is a fantastic sequel. Part 3 is the weakest and I think that is mostly because it wasn't written by Kevin Williamson (who did 1, 2 and 4). But i still love 3. It's kinda like an adult Scooby Doo, it's fun! Sydney is a badass final girl, she kicks arse!
All the films are Scooby Doo movies, in a basic sense.
Different strokes' I guess. For the fourth it felt like the train had left the station and you can never go back. same with Indiana Jones 4, Lethal Weapon 4, Die Hard 4, etc....Scream 4 felt like a cheap cash in. I don't think I cared about one scene.
I swear it’s like I hate 3 but I also love three... you know who really sells it for me? Parker Posey!!! She was so so good. Neve had a scheduling conflict which explains a lot of her absence... I truly am a Neve Campbell fan girl.
@@lettyrubble Parker Posey is so damn fun in this movie. She is definitely one of the highlights.
I think it's also because they had to change the script and tone down the gore because of Columbine. Parker Posey is really the only thing I hated about the film.

I like this one more than the original, it’s more brutal. Scream 3 is the weakest but it’s kinda funny to watch. Scream 4 was a pleasant surprise.
Scream 2 is good, but Scream 3 is my favorite sequel. It's the most meta, best script, and the best character work with Sydney since the original. I hate the has been Scream 4 with a passion. It's just a poor imitation of someone thought a Scream movie should be like.
While I’ll agree with you that this is better than the first and that 3 was the weakest, I was definitely meh on 4
@@thefilmeffect6089 Scream 3 has the worst script and it's not even close. They were LITERALLY handed scripts the day of shooting which means they were scrambling to put a story together, and it shows.
