@@jdogjohnson9038 The sibling subplot was a lazy attempt to explain Michael’s nature. It lead to a convoluted mythos surrounding the character that took away from what made him so fascinating in the original film. Halloween (2018) did the series a favor by retconning that terrible addition. Halloween is my favorite franchise and I love each of them for what they are, but I’m eternally grateful for the new timeline. The original films are always there to watch but there was simply nowhere else to take that story.

@@donnybuoy I personally liked the whole narrative of them being related and Michael coming after his sister relentlessly without reason. In fact, I find that it’s much more scarier and terrifying that someone with superhuman abilities in your bloodline, whether it be a sibling or an uncle, is hellbent on coming after you, no matter what. I also find that the whole sibling aspect is one of the elements that make the Halloween franchise stand out from the others. I can completely understand why they retconned it, though. And personally, I don’t have a problem with it, even though I do prefer the sibling narrative. I hated the Thorn plot, though.

Halloween continuity is really weird. There is Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Halloween 3 is it's own separate thing. Then you have Halloween 1, 2, 7 (H2O), and 8 (Resurrection.) The two Rob Zombie Halloweens is it's own thing. Then you have Halloween 1, Halloween 2018, and the upcoming Halloween Kills. It's all a mess.

Halloween 2 will always be the true sequel. 2018 was just H20 mixed with Halloween's greatest hits. I like the idea that it takes place on the same night and the hospital setting was a good choice.

A lot of people weirdly love this film and consider it nearly on par with the original which I find incredibly baffling. I don't hate it by any means (Shaun's 5.8 sounds about right for me) but it's just an inferior copy of the first film set in a hospital. Everything the film does the first one did better and by virtue of trying to seem like a continuation, I feel it only makes the flaws more glaring.
