Awesome recipes for greens! Thanks, Alex!
The best colour! 🤘🔥
Nice! I agree, I really like what you do with that sybarite green. Loren forest is probably my favourite of the colours (:
Thankyou! Loren Forest is a really great colour, even though I love Sybarite Green because it's so bold, those naturalistic greens really get me too! 😊
Christmas came early! A new Hobby Grotto video AND it's on my favorite colour! Good to see you back! :)
Some thoughts on the greens:
1. Caliban Green: 100% agree in its usefulness. Personally, I inevitably over-highlight it most of the time; and I'm of the opinion white requires a *lot* more care to use as the mixing colour. Personally, I've taken to using it as a base for lighting effects on my spacey boys - mixing in yellow, then going over with Hexwraith Flame to tint/add easy OSL. Kills the classic look, but shows Caliban's versatility nicely.
2. Incidentally, YES, yellow IS fantastic for highlighting green!
3. Loren Forest is wonderful; softer and works both for naturalistic colours (like you said) and for more worn-down schemes. E.g., I use it as the secondary armor colour on my off-bone/beige scheme. Incidentally, Wraithbone works really well as a highlight colour for this, as it keeps the faded tone without bleaching it as severely as white.
4. Definitely want to try Gauss Blaster. Always wondered what colour that was, and it really fits for special effects.
Haha thankyou so much, I've been busy with some commissions and other things but I'm back on track now for more regular videos! Always great to hear your take on the colours, I'd highly recommend the Sybarite Green / Gauss Blaster Green combo, as you mentioned it's great for effects! 😀
Well it's great to have you back! :)
Incidentally, got any recommendations for plasma? I'm trying to stick with green-ish colours for the accents to keep it simple (I go hog wild on battle damage, so I don't want to over-complicate it, visually). Sybarite/Gauss Blaster combo, or something else?@@TheHobbyGrotto
I use gauss blaster green blending up into white for plasm, I think this works well, but Mezgike has an awesome tutorial on painting plasma, I'd recommend giving that a look for ideas too! I think it all comes down to what colour you want to go with, I've seen awesome blue and purple ones too! 😀
Awesome thanks! I'll check that video and fiddle around!@@TheHobbyGrotto
Would love to see this as a series for other colours! It also came just in time for me to paint some Orcs, nice!
Thanks for watching, I'm definitely keen to make more videos like this on other colours! 😊
Very interesting video - would be cool to see you do something similar for other colours. I know I struggle with yellows
Thanks for watching! I do have an older video on the channel for painting yellow but it would be cool to do an update with different ways to paint it! I'm definitely looking into some other colours too for this style of video 😊
Would be amazing!
Supa Green !
Aw yeah! 😁
Great video, well edited and nice music choice 😄
Thankyou! Always nice to get some feedback on the music choices too! 😊
Have to admit, green is one of the few colours I can do with awesome results (Along with red). I haven't used any GW paints since the late 1990's, so today use either artist paints/inks mixed together, Wargamesfoundry Paints, or Model Colour paints, so seeing how you use GW paints is nice, and I may indulge in buying some of them again, just to pad out my usual go-to paints :-) Seriously nice to see some darker to mid-tone green schemes used here, instead of the usual bright greens I see others do. Green is a real nice colour to bring out your minis on the table top or display case, although it can be tricky to learn how to mix and match it with other, brighter colours outside of Earth tones like you see in Wood Elf armies/minis, but it goes VERY nicely alongside purple and blue (Say for a Space Marine chapter or magic users robes).
Thanks for watching and the awesome comment, it's always interesting to hear about what other people are using because I'm often in a bit of a GW bubble when it comes to paints. I think purple is definitely one of my favourite colours to pair green with, but I love the colour so much I'm always looking for ways to fit it in there! 😊
I watched the video and it's really well done, congratulations 🤩 I'm just sorry I didn't see how you painted the kharadron and what colors were used. Let me know if possible, I would be very interested 🙏🏻 Thank you in advance😊
Thankyou so much for watching! The Kharadron is painted with Sybarite Green, in the same style as the nighthaunt in the video. The very first video I made for the channel was actually a tutorial of this scheme, it's a rough old video now quality wise, but it does show what you're after 🙂 czcams.com/video/MQGiocASbNc/video.html
Thank you so much for giving me the link, and giving me a new idea for my kharadrons 🤩 I will follow you to see the new videos, I hope they come out for Red or Blue too🤩
You're welcome! I may very well do a Kharadron update video at some stage with some more colours, so stay tuned! 😀
I can't wait, I'm following your channel waiting for new videos 🤩
