- As the spook months draws to a close (FOR PATRONS!), we take a look at the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines. Based on Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror franchise, this game by Gearbox and Sega had ample opportunity to be an interesting panic shooter but alas; Allan added no details. Only glitches.

I will never forget seeing the Twitter of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Invader Zim creator Jhonen Vasquez the weekend of this game's release. He went from being very excited to play this game to making a video of him literally throwing his copy of the game in the toilet in the span of that same weekend. I've never before seen that level of disappointment for a game in my life and hadn't seen it again until WWE 2K20.
But was anyone actually hyped for WWE 2K20?

Wii, "Metroid: otherM" is a good example of a game that pissed ppl off. The game itself isn't actually bad but it only has minimal exploration, minimal abilities to find but the atrocious cutscenes and dialogue given to Samus in them is what did it. They go on and on and on and cannot be skipped in first playthrough. They also made Samus really small and short which is such a stupid error she's supposed to be like 6ft 5 lol
Because of this video I often find myself saying "look at that corpse flesh!" In pretty much any game I'm playing 🤣
I (thankfully) was never interested in this game and so missed most of the controversy around it, but listening to everything that happened and seeing this game in practice... wow.
The aliens are so janky. Plus I don’t understand why they’re so easy to kill? One alien wiped out an entire team in the film by acting all sneaky and taking them out one by one, and these are like, “Hello! Kill me while I run straight at you please!”
The game is actually an ok average game if you fix it yourself. Before releases someone made a typo in the AI code, a tiny one as well, which completely killed the AI. There is a fix for it, and when applied it is a playable game, certainly vastly better than before even if not the most amazing ever made.
The joy when he thinks R2 goes beep boop, only to find out it's L2. Even after all these years, the game finds new ways to disappoint.
In space, no one can hear you scream...about how bad this game is.
And it's not corrupted by capitalism either!

The "Allen" thing always reminds me of Aqua Teen. The titular alien being played by one of my all time favorites Matt Berry.

I bought it from a GAME shop for £3 literally days after release as they had copies they trying to get rid of near the till when I was picking up Skate 3. Not worth the £3.
I would only get it if it was part of the buy 1 used game and get 4 free thing they keep having here.
Randy Pitchford told the truth when he said the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines was going to be the best version.

I used to buy stupid amounts of cheap PS3 and Xbox 360 games for no other reason than they were so cheap. A lot of those games were bad. This game was seriously among the worst.

This game is legendary for its unrivaled shit gameplay and false promises it was sold on. Kinda fascinating but Randy Pitchford still needs to be fired from everything.

I only ever heard of this game indirectly from a fact hunt episode
the DLC for this game where you play 4 different survivors was more enjoyable than the main game by far and even had a brief period of alien isolation style play. The main game seemed like it was aiming to have toys released on it as though it was a cartoon.
Disappointed that no one in the comments is angrily pointing out the typo in the science fact while missing the joke. 😂 Clearly Triple Jump viewers are too smart to be fooled.

I beat this game a few years ago and it was great. But I played co-op. It was a fun game.
The typo was a missing semicolon. A massive amount of dev time was wasted trying to fix the AI that could have been spent improving it and polishing the game had anyone found it. Instead they just released it and sat around blaming everyone else for the game's failure. I've seen this behavior in multiple workplaces myself. I call it 'cover your ass syndrome'. Everyone's so worried about making sure they aren't blamed that no one just fixes the problem and moves on.
Bought this game the day it came out. Played it for half hr and put it on ebay next day. I'm still mad.

I got Alien Vs. Predator on Steam for about 50¢ and the Marine campaign in that game on its own is significantly better than this garbage.

you guys didnt do enough research to the gameplay aspect; you were literally holding a signature weapon in the start.... Hudsons rifle; which is why the counter was 99 instead of 40 which is the default

I may be getting my Alien games mixed up, but I remember this having a pretty good demo that had a balanced mix of horror and action.

@John Laney Well no, the enjoyment you get from a game is subjective. I just played it with my dad a lot and we both like the Alien movies, so we both enjoyed the game because of this. The last time i played the game was well over 7 years ago, so I didn't really know what a good game was (until I actually payed attention in the Halo series' story)
Actually you can kill Xenomorphs with guns, it just takes a lot of damage to put one down. And their blood is acid that will spray all over the place as they get hit. And they're really goddamned fast. In Alien, they weren't soldiers, just expendable space crew with limited weapons. In Aliens, the problem with shooting was that the hive was around the reactor core and stray bullets and acid blood spray would (and did) damage the reactor and kill everyone. In Alien 3 (which sucked) there were no guns because it was a prison planet.
A Xeno at close range would rinse a human, even a badass one, though. This game is bullshit, but we all knew that.

This game is underrated, all you people who buy into hype are such whiners. It's not a perfect game but it's by all means not a worst game ever candidate
Boys please stop the hate, The Last Jedi, (though not without it's problems(like every Star Wars film btw)), I thoroughly enjoyed. Rick and Morty is still great despite some of the fans and pandering to the lowest common denominator, it is the most popular animated show ever, so that was kind of unavoidable. Lastly, Death Stranding. The majority of coverage and personal opinions I see about this game are cautiosly optimistic. You sound like you're arguing with some crazed Kojima fan on Reddit. No one respectable thinks Kojima can do no wrong. Even fans of Metal Gear knew the Games plots were mostly nonsense. Ben you joke that Kojima doesn't even uderstand D.T., but he has actually admitted as much. I'll go out on a limb and risk sounding pretentious (One of a few valid criticisms of his work) and say his games stories aren't meant to give answers, or moral lessons if you will. They're meant to make you ask questions, and D.T. Looks like the purest form of that. So TLDR please stop the hate boys and allow us as viewers to have our own opinions instead of blatantly calling us wrong, and crazy.
