Jose and Minnie met in an episode of the show "Soul Train" in 1975 and became friends, they was desired to do a work together and when Jose knew Minnie in 1979 was in studio to recording of "Light My Fire" inspired by his version, He rush there to recording the last part with her.
She passed just a couple months after this single was released. She passed but she will never truly die.
How lucky to be able to hear her voice. She was the sexiest most passionate singer ever. RIP

I would actually go back further. This beautiful woman had multiple hits all through the 70s before she passed. I heard them all on the radio. Many of her songs have been sampled by many artists from the past 20+ years

I feel the same way about Minnie Riperton. There's an episode of "Unsung" to confirm that she didn't get more recognition by the music industry. She grew up in Chicago about the same time as the Hutchinson sisters (The Emotions) and Yvette Stevens (Chaka Khan). I don't think these women get the recognition they deserve. The Emotions were featured in an episode of "Unsung" also. And Chaka Khan is so powerful that she doesn't care what shallow people think. I think it's a shame that this video has so few views and comments.

Yes i agree 100000 percent, not sure why as she put out differently amazing music, you couldn't pigeon hole her to r&b, she transcended it. It breaks my heart that she didn't have more hits, as she was so worthy of more 😢

I am a huge fan remember exactly where I was when Minnie passed away July 12, 1979. I've seen this video a hundred times & never noticed her right until you mentioned it. Now I'm at work in tears because she died so young. I am also a 2x survivor & I'm thankful for each day. Grateful I can still hear this songbird. Continue to rest Ma'am.

And I also can't believe she had such a beautiful soul , heart etc. She continued to go on with her family, career , and basically bring breast cancer to the public. She is an Angel and she loved her family with everything she had. What a gift that was shared by her and her singing and her positive cute funny personality. I know she was taken so so very young and her poor husband and especially her beautiful children are proud of her and miss her so terribly. I'm glad they have a lot of interviews etc with her so I and I'm sure tons of people who weren't even born in the 70's know when they here her Angelica voice.

Used to listen to this as a child,my sister is a lifetime Minne fan & our neighbor played Jose for me all the time.I remember feeling her death when it was said her husband held her during her last words, whenever I hear her,that crosses my mind.🙏🙏
