What I meant is a register describes the way of phonation. There are four registers, vocal fry, modal (chest, mixed & head), falsetto & whistle, in accordance with the science of how the vocal chords vibrate. High head voice could reach the height of the whistle register while they're quite different in phonation. You could compare a true whistler, like Mariah Carey, with those operatic colorutura sopranos, who sing in high head voice with dynamics & vocal support. Minnie Riperton & Lisa Fischer are two vocalists whom I'm extremely confused to tell. Their 6th-octave notes sound too heavy to be a true whistle tone. The core of the voice is too concrete & rarely airy which resembles the high head voice.
