You don't have to remove the whole housing, you can take just the canister off. You don't have to disconnect all the hoses, etc. They make it in the canister style like that for a reason, the canister holds all the fuel and the filter when you take it off just don't tip it. Don't make more work for yourself than you have to. Thanks for sharing!
I am wondering why he never filled the canister with Diesel before putting it back on I want to change mine and I think I will just try to remove the canister itself and not the top portion
Thanks for the video. You turn out some great content, however instead of speeding through the end or beginning of your vids how about an explanation of what’s going on. Once you replaced canister I assume u filled with clean diesel fuel to aid in the priming? There was no mention of the prime afterwards? This is usually the hardest part of any Diesel engine after the maintenance
I actually Prime the system at the very end. It's one of those procedures that other people have documented. There's also more than one way to do it. I hook a brake bleeding kit up and suck all the air out of the top of the canister. I have heard of others that have stuck air nozzles in the fuel tank and filled it with compressed air. They also say you can even crank it for about a minute and the pump will fill the canister with fuel. You can then bleed the air out while it's running.
So far it works great! For $5, I'll save some premature maintenance, and I'll know how often to change it because it is clear. I can also see how many impurities get caught over time without having to pull the canister apart.
If you fill the canister with diesel, it should start fine. Once running loosen the bleed screw to remove any extra air. If you COMPLETELY lose prime, there are a few tricks to reprime the engine on youtube: czcams.com/video/9Hn8QYdSEis/video.html

Just what I was looking for. I’m hoping if I do this I can make it up a 45 degree creek without having to switch to L!
😂
Love your videos, please keep it going!
You make good and well explained videos thanks. John
nice video, can you make a video showing how the half shaft actually attached to the rim assemble and drive the tire(inside the rim hub)? thanks
Very good explanation.
Your videos are very informative, keep up the good work.....
Thank You!
Great vid, then the strobe lights turned on. That poor humvee ;(
Boy My M1114 is leaking fuel from that area. Right now, I am not liking that 400 AMP Alternator in the way. Looks really easy on a M998.

I see you added a extra fuel filter on line ,does that work good

@@HUMMERMODS would love to but were I work doesnt allow cameras inside
Did you do this before your tank repair?
No, I did the tank repair and ran the vehicle to ensure that any leftover debris would be caught in the old filter.
Your humvee is amazing
How do you bleed the air out before you start the engine ?
You bleed the air while it is running.
@@HUMMERMODS .
Is the screw on top of the canister the bleed screw ?
@@33ad1 yes
