These videos are great!! Keep em coming! Had a customer tell us about your channel! We Subbed!
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I also appreciate you advice on the EESS box and your insight into the gp controller.
Another great video! Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with others.
Thanks for all of the videos. I watched all of them. Very informative. Question: do I need to drop the entire tank to replace the fuel sending unit? My sending unit, wire 14C, flasher unit, and a few fuses fried when my keyed ignition failed as I was driving turning my starter into a generator. It sent high voltage throughout the entire truck. I have everything fixed or replaced except the sending unit. Its my next project.
Considering the age of a lot of these components, does it make sense to go ahead and replace the two seals on the driveshaft TC and Diff. ends?
If they leak, mine leak, and I'll probably be replacing them soon.
Do you need to use some kind of gasket sealant if you are replacing the sending unit on that gasket
Yes, I use RTV silicone everywhere I can: ebay.us/uAULYP
Grear video how long did it take you to get the fuel tank out?
Matthew Segroves asked this yesterday;
8 hours the first time, 4 hours after the second attempt. If you get good at it, you could do it in 2 or 3 hours. Having a video guide and a friend will help you shave some time off as well.
How long is the actual process time wise? Mine has a hole in it and needs to be replaced.

Hummer Mods and Repairs for the M998 HMMWV thank you! Love the videos you have! Just got my first H1 and can tell I'm going to need some videos on repairs, lol
Please verify which company you purchased this from. By the looks I have a good idea but don't want to publish and speculate.
Hxxv4U?
As you said, it unfortunately was Hxxx4U
Did you replace anything in the fuel pickup assembly?
No, it all looked great!
How long would this take a shop, labor hours? To remove, clean and reinstall fuel tank?
5 would be a good estimate if you have a mechanic knowledgeable with the HMMWV.
Depending on experience 3-8 hours would be my expectation if I brought mine to the shop. I would also consider buying a new tank. They can often be found for under $100, and would save time reinstalling.
@@HUMMERMODS Thanks for this video, I just went outside yesterday and found fuel all over my driveway after having recently filled the tank, also noticed it's near impossible to start once the temps drop below 50, which does not seem normal to me? (New owner and my first cold season with the hummer)
@@willdrivesu7914 You likely need to replace the EESS and glow plugs to get it to start: czcams.com/video/Y7nQJEjStE8/video.html
Look above the rear tire and along the fuel neck to see where it is leaking on top. In my situation, fuel was flowing in a constant stream when I overfilled the tank. These tanks should be able to be COMPLETELY full without leaking. Otherwise, water would get in when fording, and that is unacceptable.
@@HUMMERMODS thanks for the quick response and the info, was helpful!
Fuel access panel was installed when that job was done?
What do you mean?
how was the fuel sock. did you replace it?
the strainer was in good condition with no signs of corrosion or holes. I kept it and didn't replace it
Did that fix the hard starts?
Believe it or not, it didn't fix the hard starts. I needed to get back to the basics.
Hummer Mods and Repairs for the M998 HMMWV what about the lift pump?
A bad set of glow plugs to my dismay, But I'm glad I went through it. It needed to be done.
Good videos, horrible music.

Holy Smokes! I'm sorry about your starter, I've had solenoids lock up a few times. You may be able to drop just the rear, but I doubt there will be enough clearance. The margins are tight. It's worth a try, you have to take it half way down before you finish regardless.
I thought that may be the case. I will wait for warmer weather before I tackle that job. Thanks for the super quick reply.
I always like your videos 😁, I have a question,is there a tightning sequence on the bolts on the top plate where the black gasket goes, and is there a torgue spec that you used? After install , I had a small fuel leak on the end where the fuel sending until is, I noticed you mentioned you used rtv under the. Gasket? I'm going to make that access hole alittle bigger so I don't have to drop the tank again ,so I can reach all the bolts on that top plate
