- Hey everyone!
So, i was taking a little break from the Unimog's, to fix a little issue on the Humvee.
I figured somone else might have issues like this, so made a little "How to / guide" video, for anyone looking for this kind of info. or just for anyone who is curious.
Thanks for watching! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
So pleasant how you take us along in your thinking and reasoning to find the fault.
Great video, great approach with explanations, very easy going atmosphere. Keep up!
Who watches a guy clean up unimogs and change sending units on HMMWV's? I do! Keep up the great content.
I would watch that too :)
Thanks a lot!
those little black waterproof plugs where the bane of my existence for 3 years. humvees are easy to work on though and ebay probably has all the parts.
Haha yeah, i can imagine. they can really be a pain.
I'm gald i don't have to deal with them, on a daily basis :)
Thanks for watching!
Given the cost of fuel this might be your most expensive video to date. Love the truck!
I'm never going to financially recover from this
@@KJOff-Road seriously that chronic? 😂
Those fittings/ connections are called packard connections military
Thank you for this video! And of course I would like to see how the sending unit looks from the inside. ;) Maybe it is even repairable? Guess there is not much clearance for the float in the tube.
Hah yeah, i was actually tinking about it. but it didn't look like it was meant to be taken apart, in a way that it could also be put back together.
So i didn't spend much til on it. :)
Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately having seen a smattering of your and other producers videos about Humvee transportation, I want to have one.
Funny how desire is planted & flourishes!
Hah, yeah. it just might be contagious
Thanks for watching!
Nice work. I paid 18kr a ltr for diesel in July… (and €2.50 in Germany). Let’s hope it continues to fall.
Yeah, lets hope so :)
Thanks for watching!
Nice video again, thnx for sharing 👌
Thank you for this
Excellent example of systematic failure trace 👌🏻 Just wondering, is that front grill really street legal here in Denmark ?
it came with the car so yea, cars original equiped with bullbar before the 2000's are legal, so it says the law, not the police officer tho
Well, it's debatable, really. because, due to it's age, it is allowed to have a brush guard.
But, due to the way it's made, some might see it as failing in terms of "Sharp edeges"
They wouldn't fail it at the inspection. but made me aware that "somone else" (aka, the police), might see it differently.
@@KJOff-Road exactly what i said, curious how its the same thing in portugal where iam from :D
I'm sure I've mentioned this at some point before, but have you checked the oil in the geared hubs or done spindle bearing maintenance yet? Rebuilding or replacing a whole geared hub isn't something you want to do.
You'll need a specific spindle nut socket and some hub service kits ( new spindle nuts, locks, etc.)
Yeah, i did go over that, in one of the last videos with this.
I didn't replace all the nuts. but as i was changing the oil in the hubs, i also went in, and checked up on all the nuts, locks, bearings and such. making sure there was no play or signs of wear.
I know now, that military servicing calls for regular replacement of these nuts. but this truck has not done- and will not be doing many miles. so, for now, i'll keep my eyes on it, and then hopefully replace it with one of the "Upgraded" lock-nut types, later on :)
But thanks for the info :)
@@KJOff-Road I guess I've just forgotten, because I watch all your videos.😄
Legend says that you went to the fuel station with half a tank and arrived home with a quarter tank after filling it up HAHA humvees.. even my local drunktard drinks less than that car, and i've never seen that guy sober in is entire life LOL
Sounds about right, Hahah :)
Did you notice that Diesel Creek just bought a HumVee at the auction?
Yeah, just noticed. haven't got around to see it yet :)
I was thinking the same thing😁 matt's humvee have the rear seats under the covers i the back, would be fun to see if this one has it too🤔
How do you test the wire from the fuel pump to ground? You mentioned it in the video but did not perform the test. Curious how to do that
I would do it just the same as when i was testing the wire to the guage. by first running the piece of wire that i put in, to ground somwhere on the truck, and make sure the guage dropped. (Just like i did in the video) and then right after, i would take the end of that extra wire, and instead of touching ground somwhere, i would shove it into the other connector. (essentially shorting out the two connectors) and then that should also make the guage drop all the way down, letting you know there was good ground, in that connector :)
Just curious, how is the annual license for use on the road and is this determined by engine displacement, category of use, age of the vehicle?
All three, actually.
This one is old enough, that it can be registered as a "Classic vehicle - for limited use" That is by far the cheapest option, for these old collectibles. (But as the registration suggests, it will also limit how much you can use it)
Kan den ikke kører på brugt motorolie eller fritureolie?
Jo, til en vis grad. Motoren har "Multi-fuel" egenskaber. men kan ikke køre på ren olie eller lign. det skal være blandet med en vis del diesel. (fx. min. 50% diesel, ved påfyldning af motorolie)
10:02 - fuel is 15.09 Danish Kroners per litre, that is equivalent to $1.99 or €2.03 per litre.
OOF!!!!
And just a few weeks before this, it was around 18Dkr pr. liter.
Big OOF!!
I bet the owner of the gas station has a green on his face every time you pull up in one of these big trucks cuz he knows he's going to sell a lot of fuel
but we like cleaning out unimogs 😢
A high speed pump for diesel... how big is the gas tank on that thing?! 🤣
Just short of 100L :)
