Nice details....a little flat black paint on the engine covers would have went a long ways.....
Thanks for the tips I just got my prize bike 1984 YZ80 and I have to do the clutch soon and a couple of things you showed that's going to help me like the clutch plate itself matches on the pressure plate I didn't know about those marks so thanks I'll let you know how it goes might be a while I have to buy the clutch still in the gaskets
Nice! Glad to help. Cheers
Very detailed, nice work
Ya thanks amped79. The vid was getting really long at end so had to cut it short a little. Oh well most of what ya need to do is there
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
thanks dude!
Hey, i love the video but had a quick question. Im planning on buying a 1983 yz80 and wanted to know if it has the same engine so i can use this vid?
Was there push rod under the clutch ball or somewehere there
hello. i bought a yz80 like yours but i cant find parts for it, any advise?
Ya I know the feeling. There are some items online. Partzilla is a decent source online to buy from. They sell both oem and aftermarket parts at a reasonable price. They were fast to ship to which I liked and I live in Canada. Other option is your local Yamaha dealer. You could also keep your eyes peeled for a parts bike. As long as you don’t have a ton of parts that you need it shouldn’t be to expensive or hard to find parts depending on what parts you need. I unfortunately sold the bike due to the amount of cost it was going to be to repair and restore the bike to my standards, so I decided to sell mine. Good luck I hope I was helpful for you. Cheers!
I would take a better look at that crank, it looked out for sure. Do you use any gasket adhesive when installing the new gaskets? Thanks for the great content.
Ya I might be looking to have it looked at by a machine shop or keep my eye out for another motor. Haven’t tried to fire it up yet. Been waiting on the water pump gasket.
How do you remove the clutch shaft? Haynes does not explain it and no one on CZcams has anything on how to remove that shaft before that one ball bearing.
I am also looking for the answer to this
I’ve been looking all over online to figure out what the part is called that comes off the spacer between intake and the carb. It’s a barb with a hose that goes to a plastic box thing (as shown in your video ) my bike just has the barn and I don’t know what to connect it to. Any advice on part name or if I can just put a breather filter on it ? Thanks !
Check out partzilla.com. They have schematics and photos and all the oem parts I’m sure you are looking for. They are awesome and if it’s in stock they ship pretty quick. When your looking just type in the year and model and there will be about 10 different area of the bike with lists of parts and photos. I have no doubt you will find it on the website. Hope that is helpful. Cheers
You should start making yz vids again also where do you get all your parts from and what transmission/ crankcase oil do you use for it.
That project I abandoned because of how much it was going to cost. There was so much wrong with it and I couldn’t find a parts bike to make it cheaper to fix. Sorry about that dude. I did use transmission oil that was ok for wet clutches.
Cylinder kit for yz 80 1987? Link?
Not sure but I would check the old one and see if it can be bored or resleeved and order an aftermarket piston like wiseco or even oem. That’s my thoughts. Cheers
I have a 1987 yz80 and was rebuilding the top end and my mom let someone clean the garage and she threw out a lot of my parts and I am pissed
Doh! That sucks dude! I have a wife that like to move or throw stuff out as well. I know the feeling when I can’t find something I immediately ask her where she moved it. Hope your project doesn’t cost ya lots of moola
Where did you get your manual at for your 1986 yz80
I believe I got mine from fortnine.
How did you take that screw behind the rear brake lever ?
Pushed the brake lever down and unscrewed it.
How to harden the front suspension in it?
Would be fine for a youth but a grown man could ride it fine as a pit bike but jumping it would prob bottom out with a 200lb man on it hehe
Where could I find new plastics for an 85’ yz 80?
Only place I found was Clark racing. Plastics from 85-92 will fit I believe. clarkemfg.com/catalog/yamaha/yz-2-strokes/yz80-88-92-stock-capacity/
For my 1986 yz 80 do you know how much to turn the itle and air and mixture screw from all the way in bc it the last thing to finish it and I can’t find anything out about it
According to the manual 1 and 3/4 turns out from the bottom. So screw the pilot air screw all the way in. Lightly seat don’t go to far. Then back it out 1-3/4 turn and start from there. As for the idle screw. That needs to be adjusted to the idle once you have the pilot air screw close to what it needs to be
@@bigair0176 ok thank you
@@dirtbikeman614 anytime. It’s a matter of finding the sweet spot but the stock setting is a good place to start!
Can a yamaha yz80 borekit fit to dt50 lc yamaha
I am not sure. I’m sure if you check on some forums somebody may have tried it. I have never heard of it being done tho. Sorry cant be more helpful then that.
Bent crank is not good news.
Yes I was very disappointed to see that. I may be looking for a whole new motor. We will see how it runs. It looks like the guy banged on it with a hammer or something. Other side looked fine. But at 7000rpm not being true I bet she will have a good vibration
I may completely rebuild the thing too. Haven’t decided yet.
