    Our boat is a 16 feet wide by 80 feet long houseboat. While compact, there’s ample space for living on a houseboat full time or part time.
    Complete with an enclosed Isinglass front porch (deck), full living room (salon) and kitchen (galley), a king master and two queen guest bedrooms (staterooms), and two bathrooms (heads), we have everything we need for long stays, off grid living, houseboat life adventures, and full time houseboat living. Come see what simple living is like on a houseboat!
    The spacious back porch (deck) has a swim platform for easy swimming and launching SUPs and kayaks from the houseboat. The top deck is equipped with surround sound, a double bar, and a water slide. The front lounge on the top deck is perfect for cocktail cruising and catching amazing houseboat life sunsets on our floating house on the water!

    Hi, I've just discovered your brilliant channel and I'm really looking forward to viewing more. I thought as you mentioned that you take water from the dock and leave the water tank alone. I would suggest that you still use the water tank and top up from the dock as the water is consumed. That way it keeps the water tank fresher. Please forgive me if I got it all wrong. Heartfelt best wishes at you all (inc Dora).

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před 2 lety

      Hey Steven! Thank you for the comment and watching the channel. After talking to a few more boaters we do use tank water from time to time and then top it off with fresh water. The main reason we don’t alway use tank water while at the dock is because the water pump is right next to our daughter’s room and can wake her up. Never fun to wake up a 1 year old from a deep sleep. Have a great week and please feel free to share any other tips and tricks.

    Great video guys. I'm getting older and with some health issues, having a 2000sqft-ish house and one acre of land, yard maintenance is getting to me. I want to downsize, but will never go back to an apartment. I'm tossing around the idea of a RV or houseboat and to me a houseboat seems like a great idea, especially if a pole shift is coming soon.

      Hey Donna! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We are on the same lake as Watts on Wheels and hopefully we can meet up with them one day. That storm was crazy and hit the lake the same week we closed on our boat. So technically our boat was on the water at that time, but it wasn't legally our boat. After that storm there was a lot of damage to local marinas and we were lucky to get our slip. Thank you again for the compliments about our boat, and we hope you enjoy the upcoming videos we put out. Have a wonderful weekend!

    Love Lanier. I had the pleasure of spending a few weeks on a houseboat there at Holiday Marina.
    I am looking for somewhere to live full time on a houseboat.
    I know Lanier is a Corps of Engineers lake, and you are only allowed to stay 30 days per year.
    My question is: Does this get enforced? Is there really any way to enforce it? I would assume it's a dont ask dont tell kind of scenario. Just be a good neighbor, pay your rent, keep a nice boat and you'll be fine?
    I know you can liveaboard on the coast of GA- but the saltwater would be maintenance galore.
    Thanks for the help.

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před 3 lety +5

      Hey George!! We love Lake Lanier too and love spending time up here.
      The rules seem a little vague, and we get the feeling these rules are designed to protect bodies of water that empty into the ocean. We actually purchased our houseboat from someone who lived on it full time. We also know of people in our marina who live on their houseboats full time as well. I agree that if you keep a clean boat, pump out, pay your rent etc. you should be able to live aboard your boat (on Lanier). Seems to be loosely enforced, if at all.

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před rokem

      Hey Joey - that's a great question. We actually don't have a grey water tank, as the water from our showers and sinks just goes into the lake. Though, we do have a black water tank. We have that pumped out at least once per month with the marina's pump out boat. We don't do that ourselves, thank goodness 😆 . just curious.. at 2:18 it looks like a propane tank next to batteries in an enclosed space...is that so? does the tank have a place to vent in the event of a leak? let's not even talk about a leak combined with a spark .. or, maybe i am not seeing the entire picture. jt

      Hey Jason - appreciate your observation. Those are propane tanks, and are empty. We have relocated those propane tanks to a location off our houseboat, since filming this video. what made you pick a 80 foot ?

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před 2 lety +1

      When looking for our houseboat, we wanted a room for our daughter, Clare, and a guest stateroom for our extended family and friends. We also preferred a salon with enough space for a pullout couch. We looked at boats between 68-88 feet that fit this criteria, and this particular houseboat had been taken care of really well. We opted for the 80 foot because it had fewer things for us to fix after purchasing. Think we would have still been very happy with a smaller houseboat, especially if it was just the two of us. 65 feet was the minimum we were looking at for our little family. Thank you for watching!

    I would be absolutely terrified to live in a house boat with a 10 month old. What about when baby starts walking? I know they probably have great safety protocols but still that is so so scary

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před 2 lety

      We completely agree it is scary, and we make sure to stay scared about it so we pay attention. Life jackets, gates, and sliding doors that are difficult for even adults to open have helped. It’s a constant process of reevaluating at each new stage with her to make sure our boat is safe and implementing what we need, similar with a land house. The stakes are higher, though, with the water right there. We have an agreement with each other that if it no longer suits our family because of where Clare is at in life, we will just sell the houseboat and move on. Agree, it is scary!

    • @DeepHouseboatLife
      @DeepHouseboatLife  Před 2 lety

      In theory, we can go as far as our fuel tanks will take us (about 280 gallons and we usually only travel at 6-7 mph). If we can refuel, then we can keep going. We’re on a lake that is landlocked, so we can travel from one end of the lake to the other 😃
