Port Royale doesn’t allow members to rent out their boats, but you can find them for rent at other marinas around the lake on AirBnB and VRBO. Just select the houseboat option in the filters. Hope this helps, and you are able to give the lifestyle a try. It’s a ton of fun

Is there a particular type of houseboat y’all are looking at right now? Are y’all thinking Lake Lanier or Hartwell? We have another video coming out this Thursday about the cost to buy a houseboat with an actual budget calculator and are hoping this will be helpful. Excited for y’all!
Great video!!! I don't know much about house boating but I truly dream of purchasing one some day. Your videos are very helpful. I'm in the DFW area so house boating isn't very popular here. So unfortunately, hands on learning isn't really an option for me here. But your videos are the next best thing. Keep up the good work👍👍

Hey Joshua! Thank you for watching our video. The boat broker we used put us in touch with a marine lender to get the financing worked out. Houseboats are not eligible for a regular mortgage like a home, but the loan we were able to get was similar to a home loan, but with a slightly higher interest rate since it’s a recreational loan vs mortgage. Living full time on a houseboat can be a really fun way to always be on the water. We know several families that live on their houseboat full time and absolutely love it. We enjoy being on our houseboat as much as we can. Let us know if you have any specific questions - happy to help however we can!
Thank you for watching our video! If you’re buying a houseboat, the broker only chargers the seller a commission (just like a typical real estate transaction). So you won’t need to pay the broker anything if you are a buying. If you are selling, the broker fee varies by individual or company. Houseboats are so expensive to move that we’d recommend finding a lake that has houseboats for sale that you are nearby, and then do a Google search for brokers on that lake.
