I used to wander in Grizzly Hills for hours as a teenage boy, trying to cope with the death of my adoptive mother. She would have been 88 years old today, I am alive thanks to her. WOW allowed me to delay grief for as long as possible, and escape in a better world. I'm listening to this song thinking of her, whom I loved so much; and I still do.
The memories this game has given me honestly puts me into an emotional state that is inconsolable until I personally get over it. This game, the people, the experiences... Tears me apart from every fabric of my being. Only a feeling WoW players can understand.
Ave_Atque_Vale323 unless people have played wow, have spent all evening and then into the early hours pvping, raiding or just hanging about and questing with a buddy or two, they cannot understand what this game means to so many people. I'm actually trying not to well up typing this, as wotlk was a tough time for me personally and i dont speak to anyone i played with during this expansion. It's the music that brings a flood of memories back, and sometimes it hurts.
Absolutely. This game was such an important part of my life for such a long time! I maintain that BC was the best, but I had a hell of a lot of fun with WotLK and the music is/was incredible! Hard to believe how long ago that was!
As a musician and a gamer I have to say the Grizzly Hills music is some of the most impact-full music in the entire game. It really brings your inner thoughts to surface.
shiftys-wow GM Especially if you were a BM Hunter since all you did was just sit in Grizzly Hills waiting for the spirit bear to spawn XD Lots of time to listen to this lovely soundtrack and think
Yep, this nostalgic feeling is still so strong (even 4 years after you posted your comment)...I dont think I'll ever again feel this way about any game.
For all the flak people give World of Warcraft, you have to give it this: it feels like a world! The sheer amount of different environments and the creativity put into them. Just like the real world, some places are dull, some are breathtaking! ^_^
Wotlk was one of the biggest expansions music wise :) this and storm peaks were amazing for me. I often imagine sitting near the river in grizzly hills, fishing with my dog. just such an awesome relaxed and happy thought.
Something about this track is so final - like someone packing their bags going far away and never returning. It's so sad yet beautiful at the same time. It's actually a pretty good description of how I feel about WoW now and how I'll never play it again. I have great memories of Vanilla and the first two expansions. This music makes me feel like I've packed up and left one of the greatest worlds I've ever lived in. As much as it pains me to listen to this, I still have to thank Blizzard :)
You cannot, CANNOT make a character in WoW and not come to GH. It's an absolute must every time. Such a relaxing and enjoyable zone. Gah, those were the glory days. Now you're lucky to see anyone there, but those trees and rocks tell stories of legendary battles, friendships, and we are all eternally grateful and better for it. We were there.
This music exquisitely displays the epic beauty and raw sadness in the world of Azeroth. Along with the books and previous games, this game has a depth and immersiveness like no other game that I've played. And the fact that this is one of hundreds of pieces of music shows the lengths to which they will go to let you see this is a living breathing world and you are a part of it. Thanks Blizzard.. truly.
I listened to this music on the porch at my family's resort we were staying at right outside Yellowstone national park... it was so peaceful and beautiful with the scenery and the log cabin we stayed in, the memory makes me long to go back just to listen to this as I sit outside and look at the snow capped mountains. I'm crying now from the longing and the feels....
I think the beautiful music of Grizzly Hills serves to prove that even in the frozen wastes of Northrend, with the Scourge and the Lich King preparing for evil and the domination of Azeroth, there's always that small place that is the opposite. For me, Grizzly Hills is a beacon of hope, showing the beauty of Azeroth and the awesome peaceful music that accompanies it.
Imagine how would it be like to live there as your char.. I dream that one day I will wake up as my mage in grizzly hills...I'm going to wake in a little house made of stone. My water minion is going to be sleeping next to my dragon mount...I will go out and open the door...I will inspire and feel the cold and clean air in my lungs...Then I will mount up on my bear and just walk around grizzly hills enjoying the cold morning...You know what I would call that guys?...Freaking PERFECTION =)
The most magical game ever and no matter has become of it, it can’t change what it once was. Blizzard put together something truly remarkable and then the players made it magical and full of life. I miss all of wonderful people that I spent so many years of life with in this once beautiful world. Love you all and wish you the best. Maybe we will meet again one day.
There's something about this piece that my soul just latches onto, it feels right...a sense of belonging and homeliness. It sucks that Ghostcrawler ruined the game but we will always have BC and Wrath in our hearts.
This music totally reminds me of the music at the end of "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," when Bilbo and all get on the ship for the Grey Havens. I just got the WotLK expansion and went to Grizzly hills for the first time today. As soon as I stepped across the border i was like "Oh my god, I'm in love." It's so great. Can't believe I haven't been there before.
I heard this song for the first time as I reached the top of Nordrassil, overlooking all of grizzly hills. I sat down and just listend and looked as the music had reached about 1:30. Easily one of the best music pieces in the game and it made for a very amazing moment. Great work to the art and music teams for that one.
This was my favourite zone and I leveled many alts just to go through this zone again and again. Loved it. Especially at like 1am knowing I had the next day off work and I'd get up at 6am straight back here lol. Peaceful escapism for me at the time.
Been a while since I commented! I just listened to this a wow, what a nostalgia hit. I literally sat here and let out a contented sigh, going back to the days of flying around Northend when I first got cold flying... So many things have changed since then... shame none of us could go back to the day's of being 'noobs', just to get the feeling we all got when we all first started. The last place I go in WoW will be Northend, Grizzly Hills will be my characters final stop when my WoW journey ends.
Being a noob was the best part of WoW. We couldn't see into all the cracks and crevices where the terrible people hid. We couldn't see the complicated strategies that, when failed, caused guilds to fall apart and people to hate one another. We couldn't see the monotony in grinding toon after toon. We couldn't see, and in more ways than one, ignorance was bliss.
One thing i will always love about warcraft is the music , still makes me want to return to the game and play through all the zones again . Especially Arathi Highlands
Making the rounds through the WoW soundtrack listing. This shit never gets old. And ya know, if the graphics were updated and not half-assed, then this game would rival the emotional power that of Skyrim.
I felt bad for quitting WoW after a while because I always listen to the game's music, and kept remembering how much fun I had exploring; then I took the Cata trial, and lost all interest in going back. Honestly, the only reason I really liked the game so much was for the experience, lore, and exploration. I loved being a noob (believe it or not) and exploring places (Burning Steppes, Un'goro Crater, Nagrand, and Sholazar Basin to name a few) for the first time :P
How can you not like Wotlk when you have seen the grizzly hills, sholazar basin, icecrown and of course the howling fjord ? All the zones transitioned into each other smoothly and all kinda shared this dark gloomy Northrend atmosphere. I remember guys complaining that wotlk was to grey...can you imagine Northrend in flashy colours ?
I think Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord are the only zones in wow that actually make you feel lik your there. Not my favourite zones but they are very memorable.
if i had the change to give up my good life here in the netherlands and build up a new life in a place like the grizzly hills then i wouldn't hesitate, i'd eminently took my stuff and go there, i'd build a large wooden house, not to fancy but in a style like they have in the grizzly hills, i'd like to forget about the constant hate and war in the world, i would just enjoy the beauty of life in a beautiful place like that and live in peace
At the moment i have huge lag, and no enemies or ncp's are spawning, and i can fly around even though i've dismounted. I'm just running around the whole of Grizzly Hills with no disturbances, enjoying the music and environment :D
Well said. the wrath of the lich king expansion's music really struck a chord in my heart i just feel at peace when i listen to the music. a world that would only be topped by the first virtual reality headset that would do a .hack move and transfer you into the game. this is not just a game. it is a way to escape painful feelings and to be with others who are kind just for the sake of being kind and not wanting anything in return but your friendship.
People wonder why WoW is so successful, it could be the solid gameplay, or the fact that it was revolutionary for its time, but I think it's this. The music is STILL better than most other games
Grizz hills is my favorite music in the entire game. Granted, there are pieces of 'epic' music from cata with the invasion and all, but as a musician, I truly appreciate pieces like this. Reminds me of FF7 music (Aerith's theme, anyone?) which is just as wonderful. Thanks blizz.
This games music is so beautiful. I love Wow, even though i find many of the changes bad, i always find myself wanting to go back. Not because of addiction, but because of the world we live in. Wow is a fantasy world, like many games we play, the only major difference is that Wow captures you in a different way, the lands are how you would want it to be, the music makes it even move captivating. When Wow ends, im always going to remember the friends i made, and the enjoyment it brought to me.
I enjoyed every area of Wotlk.. all quests were nice the new phasing tech is superb and i'm leveling a second character now and i can't wait untill northrend !
@Chem1kill I love the story line. WoW has such a fascinating history, and so much of it is rooted in real-world Nordic myth, such as Vordrassil the World Tree. Everytime my friend and I hang out, most of what we talk about is WoW history various characters or events or zones.
I love WOW i started playing in cata which i had to satrt at lvl 1 an orc warrior, made my way up and what i really found my strength was with a DK i loved the DK not just cuz oh they have this and that dps meter and all that complex talk, but bcuz of who they are, soldiers who are forced to serve the anger hate sorrow vengeful attitude, something i can relate to i love the dks and the wotlk bcuz the story not bcuz im better thn you at pvp, the epic journey is what drew me to play not to showoff
Honestly, this is going to sound weird, but I can see a beautiful pas de deux to this song. (Ballet term, look it up!) It makes me want to start choreographing again, and I think of possible steps in my head when I'm on the flight path somewhere. ~
I often go outside in the swedish night to watch the stars and sometimes if im lucky the northern lights, but to my disapointment it does not sound like this at all.
I don't know why, but I feel like the Cata equivalent to this is Uldum, I love Uldum for it's music too, and it's very odd that I do, it isn't extremely beautiful like this, but it's mysterious, and I like both of these.
I used to wander in Grizzly Hills for hours as a teenage boy, trying to cope with the death of my adoptive mother. She would have been 88 years old today, I am alive thanks to her. I miss the days of fishing for glacial salmon in Grizzly Hills and fighting those darn bears... it was so nice at night....
Absolutely. This game was such an important part of my life for such a long time! I maintain that BC was the best, but I had a hell of a lot of fun with WotLK and the music is/was incredible! Hard to believe how long ago that was!
“Only a feeling WoW players can understand “ sums it up.
the violin solo from 1:35 is the most beautiful piece of music ever put in to wow.
As a musician and a gamer I have to say the Grizzly Hills music is some of the most impact-full music in the entire game. It really brings your inner thoughts to surface.
I feel you man. I feel you. /hug
shiftys-wow GM Especially if you were a BM Hunter since all you did was just sit in Grizzly Hills waiting for the spirit bear to spawn XD Lots of time to listen to this lovely soundtrack and think
I burnt my CPU out in this location and if there was ever a fitting end to a CPU it's while its running this zone and playing this music.
Most beautiful soundtrack in WoW for the most beautiful zone in the best expansion.
Yep, this nostalgic feeling is still so strong (even 4 years after you posted your comment)...I dont think I'll ever again feel this way about any game.

Man, I miss wotlk ;(

Rest in peace Reckful.

Why won't you ever play it again? What is stopping you?

Why are my eyes wet after reading this comment? :,(
This music feels like returning home. Not to any house, your soul's home.
2:25 - 4:48 very relaxing.
How can you dislike this? Even if it's not one of your favorite tunes, it definitely taps into your soul... unless there's no soul to tap into.
I listened to this music on the porch at my family's resort we were staying at right outside Yellowstone national park... it was so peaceful and beautiful with the scenery and the log cabin we stayed in, the memory makes me long to go back just to listen to this as I sit outside and look at the snow capped mountains. That beginning part... gets me every time.
Damn, now I wanna play again.
Its like a drug, keep coming back.

Puts me into tears
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for uploading this mucosal masterpiece.
Howling Fjord's and Grizzly Hills' music always brings a sense of happiness
Imagine how would it be like to live there as your char..

so much emotion in this tracks
Blizzards subtle way oh getting players to keep playing wow. The music is fucking amazing

wow dude. the memories of me being 5 and watching my dad are setting in. hard..
Why are my eyes wet ?
This is THE best place to quest.
The music. The environment.
...beautiful, just beautiful.

oh the feels :')
so soothing..
I'll always cherish the fond memories of this game.. until cataclysm lol
its only ironic that an expansion titled 'the cataclysm' spelled the death of WoW, isn't it?
After all these years, I come back to this.
This was my favourite zone and I leveled many alts just to go through this zone again and again. Loved it. Especially at like 1am knowing I had the next day off work and I'd get up at 6am straight back here lol. Peaceful escapism for me at the time.
Thanks for putting up all this great music Guru. Amazing nostalgia trip.

I want this music to my funeral.
still as lovely as when I first heard this
Это шедевр как и с ревющего фьорда, ностальгия... =( красивая очень музыка, берет за живое...
One thing i will always love about warcraft is the music , still makes me want to return to the game and play through all the zones again . Especially Arathi Highlands
amazing music .. its just amazing! great job blizz ..
Can't wait to night fish here again when WOLK classic this fall
such beatiful music...we all need more
Masterpiece!

gonna be crying like a baby stepping into this zone again later this week
Amazing. Best soundtrack in WoW. Pure and simply love it :D
Wow man... I just read your comment while listening this music... And I got tears in my eyes. :')
WoW has REALLY improved in the music department with WotLK, in my opinion.
How can you not like Wotlk when you have seen the grizzly hills, sholazar basin, icecrown and of course the howling fjord ?
All the zones transitioned into each other smoothly and all kinda shared this dark gloomy Northrend atmosphere.
I remember guys complaining that wotlk was to grey...can you imagine Northrend in flashy colours ?
how do you put my exact deepest thoughts into words? you are a beautiful person.
So ethereal and spiritually pure
I think Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord are the only zones in wow that actually make you feel lik your there. Not my favourite zones but they are very memorable.

2:30 on is my ABSOLUTE favorite part of the music..*sigh* thank you for posting!! Gosh I wish they would put these parts on the soundtrack! D:
True
this, plus the day theme for grizzly hills, are easily the best soundtracks in World of Warcraft
Well said. the wrath of the lich king expansion's music really struck a chord in my heart i just feel at peace when i listen to the music.
a world that would only be topped by the first virtual reality headset that would do a .hack move and transfer you into the game.

Its the on hold music :) so graceful
People wonder why WoW is so successful, it could be the solid gameplay, or the fact that it was revolutionary for its time, but I think it's this. The music is STILL better than most other games
i could listen to this all day
The first song is so incredibly beautiful.
Pure nostalgia ❤️
I think I shall get hold of some of these songs and stick in Oblivion to listen to :D
The fucking nostalgia. Jesus.

I loved Northrend.. my only complaint was the size of it all.. I would have loved to have so much more of it! I quit after 1 week of cataclysm..
I enjoyed every area of Wotlk.. all quests were nice the new phasing tech is superb and i'm leveling a second character now and i can't wait untill northrend !
i miss wotlk :(

lay in bed thinking on my stuff this music playing, npcscan going camping Arcturis the best camping of all for a Hunter.
so well said , really. WOW was and is greater than the raids and the guilds. On several levels it truly is a knowable world.
Honestly, this is going to sound weird, but I can see a beautiful pas de deux to this song. (Ballet term, look it up!) It makes me want to start choreographing again, and I think of possible steps in my head when I'm on the flight path somewhere. ~
Stay for awhile, and just listen.
This music is the reason why I got my fishing skill maxed, it's so perfect
I often go outside in the swedish night to watch the stars and sometimes if im lucky the northern lights, but to my disapointment it does not sound like this at all.
@PoliticalHell
I don't really go for this sort of classical/traditional music, but that passage is fucking perfect. Seriously incredible.
the feels
ha i didnt even know there were all these versions! thats awesome!
Anyone else think "Brother Bear" when they go through this zone?
I haven't seen this movie for a quite a while. But I also think about Alpha and Omega. Cause it is set in Jasper National Park.
ooomg.. i am so playing with music on in Grizzly Hills from now on :o
@Chem1kill I'm really happy for you bro, I enjoy the same experience you do.
Then a worgen jumps on your back and rips you to shreds...
No, but really now. Grizzly Hills is my favorite Wrath zone, together with Sholazar Bazin.
shame on that one person who disliked!
WoW in general has the best soundtrack, now grizzly hills was exceptionally good, but EVERY zone had incredible atmosphere and music.
Cant tell which one i like better.. Night or Day music from here.. I lean towards night.
@Darthlighty srsly, Grizzly hills is one place i love to visit even after i hit 80, so is Nagrand, i completely agree with you
Reminds me of Once Upon a Time in the West
P E R F E C T
love it =)
I don't know why, but I feel like the Cata equivalent to this is Uldum, I love Uldum for it's music too, and it's very odd that I do, it isn't extremely beautiful like this, but it's mysterious, and I like both of these.
@Darthlighty i'd say sholazar basin also has great environment parts and music ofc.
my fav zone in wotlk
Hands down one of the bast tracks in WoW.
