Shimano Ultegra front derailleur cable change on a 2021 Giant TCR

Cable routing through the ST-R8000 shifter, bike frame and FD-R8000 derailleur shown and explained.
Similar shifter models are DURA-ACE ST-R9100, BR-R9100, BR-R9110, ULTEGRA BR-R8000, BR-R8010, 105 ST-R7000, BR-R7000, BR-R7010.
Symptoms of cable failure are gradual, include chain not changing gears on chain rings when shifter is operated, derailleur not moving at all when shifter is operated. Braking is totally unaffected.

10:50 Giant really bodged this. Frames got an open hole, the screw retainer for the cable guide has nothing to screw into. Also those inner cable sheaths wear through very quickly, then the cable guide wears. I expected a lot better from Giant.

Clean the bike and clean the chain. Your ride will be a lot better. I am not a fanatic but your bike looks like it is not getting any love at all.

There should be no twist, no kink, no extra turns or wraps
