    this is great for economy motors with flow velocity in mind. more cam overlap is still required for more effective compression in the higher rpms. the honda variable timing gives you low lift high lift , more cam overlap at higher rpms, and if its the ivtec you get to play intake cam angle too to further yield more effective compression at a higher rpm.

    i think with a continuosly variable lift system like this was given an actual performance tune, it would prove vtec is not the most effectie method, Id love to see a dyno read out of this

    It is maybe the most sophisticated, but is it really efficient. There are 2 advantages that I can see with this tech is that the engine can open the valve to maximum when your pressing the pedal to the metal instead of waiting to XXXXX RPMS or can open the valve a bit more on mid range RPMS. I think the VTEC is the most effetive and the best way for performance engine.

    @dir114 BMW's valvetronic only has 2 stage valve-lift. vtec has 1 stage valve-lift. but this one has continuosly vary valve-lift. thats whay it was called as continiously variable-valve

    Yeah its a clever system, a good response to MultiAir. I havent seen many Toyota's with Valvematic advertised yet, hence why I thought Toyota may have retained the VVTi name...

    this arent like vvti, more like i vtec and mivec function which regulate valve lift. while vvti regulate valve timing by twisting camshaft at certain angle

    SO BMW and Toyota has it named the same as Valvetronic? Sounds like nice technology, we may see it with HCCI engines when they come out.

    Looks like the jacobs brake assembly in my cummins

  • @banstaman
    @banstaman Před 12 lety +1

    Correct, but that's a Subaru engine, and it isn't available in the 2GR-FE engine, they have D4s in the 2GR-FSE, but unfortunately that's only available in Lexus models. :/

    awsome vid idk thay toyota had it in them its just awsome

  • @LRGUE
    @LRGUE Před 11 lety +1

    but it has a lot moving parts so it means is less reliable, this is simplier and compact and i think is better too

    los fabricantes deberían aprovechar los gases de escape para mover un generador eléctrico, en el lugar que va el turbo usar una turbina generadora para recargar las baterías y mover motores eléctricos 😅
    También podrían probar un segundo motor a vapor ligado al motor térmico para aprovechar el 40 % de energía calorífica y mover un generador eléctrico, sumado a los gases de escape se podría incrementar hasta un 100% de eficiencia motriz teórica
    Ojalá los fabricantes encontraran de dónde sacar más con menos combustible y proteger el planeta

    Toyota or any other make could instead could adopt the solve it all helical camshaft design by Australian pioneer. Helcal camshaft give infinite timing and controlled lift making it a superior engine to any other make. I hope to see helical camshafts adopted at least by suzuki who have nothing to compete with Honda, Toyota or Nissan.

    Much better engineered than bmw's valvetronic.

    this is the most advance variable-vale technology in the world today. once again toyota is one step further of BWW, behold

    when honda has vtec, toyota has vvt
    when toyota has vvt-i honda has vtc and then vtc + vtec-e called i-vtec
    when toyota has vvtl-i honda has vtc + vtec but also call i-vtec (only on performance car i.e integra, type-r)
    when toyota has valvematic honda has....

    VVTL-i Is similar to I-VTEC (Performance)
    VTEC AND VVT-i do Different things and are not similar.

    this can't even be compared with fiat's multi air engines... Fiat's system is far more complete and efficient

  • @murs1123

    Rubbish, this system is prone to failure on the 2ZR, 3ZR-FAE. VVT is just fine, stop putting all these electronic nonsense on the engines. 🤮
