The changes to a jumpshot would be minimal, it wouldn't be enough to eliminate the dip, the turn, or the release point. Those are a direct result of coaching, not strength. @siukong Před 4 lety +13

Which will usually be much larger in your examples (kids growing up and gaining muscle as they become an adult, or someone out of shape hitting the gym and putting on a lot of upper body muscle). In those cases it would not be uncommon to literally have a 2-3x increase in strength (ie +100-200%). In the case of an athlete who was already near peak fitness levels the change would be much lower, relatively speaking (maybe in the range of 5-10%?). So your statement is true but will apply much less strongly to professional athletes than to amateurs. Personally I don't believe it was much of a factor for Giannis.

      If you eliminate the dip you will have to create power somewhere else. The "dip" is you loading your body to create power and lift into the shot. I have no idea why coaches are eliminating the dip. It goes against human biomechanics. The trick is where are primarily dipping from. The legs? Or the hips? One is far inferior to the other (from a stability/power generation standpoint)

      The bucks brought back his original player dev/shooting coach from the kidd era. The most recent shooting coach-who also helped w Kyle korver's form-is the one who effed up giannis's shot. But it'll be tough cuz both those coaches are w the bucks and egos will get in the way

    P.S. notice his rookie year, he also adds hops before his jumpshots and now he doesn't

      I believe he went through the 'Dwight' effect.
      Because of his shift in play and the fact he put on some pounds changed his jumpshot.

    • @iman5147
      @iman5147 Před 4 lety +2

      That may be the reason he doesn't hop anymore either, because if he ever did, he'd be wasting movement and the defender would go in on him. He can't gather momentum just because of his added pounds.

      @@deeppatel7496 Adding some muscle to your body might increase the range in your jumpshot and gives you more power, but it does not make you change your jumpshot mechanics overnight. The Turn, Dip and the Sway of your jumpshot will not change your shooting motion even if you add more muscle, it’s all about the coaching, the shooting coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
