Best trophy in all of sports!
Criminally low NHL coverage in the US media. This is a great interview!
There is a tradition with the cup that each player of the cup winning team gets to take it home and display it for the whole town or city to see for a short time.
I saw the Cup in 1996 in Bal Harbour, Florida. Waited in line, didn't take a picture. Just walked up as close as allowed, and walked out into the sunshine. One of the greatest days in my life.
I had the privilege to meet the cup and Phil the keeper of the cup last year in Nottingham England
I was like a 40 year old kid at Xmas 😂
One of the best interviews on this show!
Great interview Rich.
Wild that Ovie put 15K worth of caviar in the cup!
21:00 Leafs fans cant escape the trolling I LOVE IT 😂
27:50 the crossed-out name is brad aldrich, if anyone was wondering. and "inappropriate behavior" is putting it VERY mildly
Got to take my picture with the cup when the wheeling nailers hosted penguins night. One of the greatest moments of my sports Fandom life. And yes, I DID PUT MY HANDS ON IT, THAT THING IS MAGICAL. Btw, met Phil Prichard too, cool guy.
Greatest sports championship trophy hands down!
Oh this was a great show and I don’t even like hockey!!!! So well done. Intelligent and cogent interview. Wonderful stories. Rich you and your team are the best. Getting me through some tough days thx
The Stanley Cup is the modern day equipment of King Tut's treasury.
I am still amazed the Cup doesn't get its own seat on a plane
Bingo. wtf. never leave your sight, right?
I love this dude
My buddy is friends with Versteeg and was at that party
in 1994 Messier and the rangers took the cup to Scores Gentltmens Club in NYC and bought it a dance...True story
In Edmonton during the 80s, Messier and the boys took it to a gentleman's club called Rusty's.
Canada’s holy grail 🇨🇦
Over a century, there have been a few XXXX outs.
On the road, 330 days of the year! It is a World Championship. Ruskies and Swedes and Czechs and French... recognize it as the pinnacle. (the Lombardi can't say that) Hear me now, and listen later... when we get Muslims, Chinese to play hockey? This thing will become bigger than the World Cup!
I heard after the Penguins won it that during a pool party one of the players had to celebrate with the cup it ended up at the bottom of a swimming pool, lol.
Thus that incident caused the Keepers to be put with the cup going forward
We really need an over-the-top Hockey film that follows the cup. Movie starts off: OT Game 7 and then carries on from there. Even getting a few 1st person P.O.V.s from the cup itself
After the Caps won it in 2018 the bowl the team partied so hard with it that the rim of the Bowl bent.
The wildest party i can think of is when the pens won i think the first time and they threw it in marios pool. Broke the bowl, had to call up a silversmith at like 2 am to fix it to present it and basically had a note inside the bowl saying dont touch this cause its not stable.
Guy Carbonneau won it the last time with the Dallas Stars. Dimebag from Pantera was a huge hockey fan and Stars fan, and threw a victory party for the team at his house. Guy tried to throw it from a second floor balcony into Dime's pool, but missed and hit the pool deck. Put a sizeable dent in the bowl.
I've seen the cup twice-once in the Hall of Fame and once at the race track in Edmonton (e.g., Glenn Anderson owned racehorses in the day). The second time, there was no security; it was just sitting on a card table so all the fans could walk up to it.
Jean Beliveau has his name the most on the cup. 10 times as a player and 7 as an executive. All for the Montreal Canadiens.
The most as a player is Henri Richard, Maurice “The Rocket” Richard’s brother, who played with Bellevau. He won the thing 12 times all with Montreal. Meaning he has taken part in winning HALF of all the Montreal Canadiens championships. It is also the record for the most amount of professional championships in a team sport. Number two on that list is Bill Russel for the NBA championship and another guy for rugby who both won a whopping 11 championships professionally.
The Boys in 1924 left the Cup on the side of the road. I believe in the 60's it was left in the back seat of a car, and found the next morning? Blackhawks? Don't want to look it up. Dude. He says don't bring it to a bar. Pittsburgh, Chicago, Bruins? back in the day, before social media and camera phones? I would have taken it to a public house and let ALL MY FRIENDS take a drink of beer out of the Cup. You would be Legend.
I got the chance to get upclose and personal w The cup and gave it a big ole kiss!!!! I have no regrets
lord stanley is iconic
👍🏾👍🏾
Lord Stanley, please let my Buffalo Sabres join your tournament next year? I'm not asking to win it! Baby steps. Just trying to stop the 13 year ban. :)
I would've asked him when he gets to go home
Unbelievable
Just my opinion, but putting food in Lord Stanley's Cup is disrespectful. Champagn, beer... yes. Chicken wings, cereal milk, and even caviar are bs. Have some respect.
Disagree - Tom Wilson put his childhood cereal with milk in it because every morning he would think about winning the Stanley Cup in his parents kitchen.
He then brought the cup back to his childhood home. North Toronto boys do it different, but properly
@@brettinnis1807 Everyone has a story. Doesn't make it right.
I can't remember who, but at least one baby has been sat in the bowl.
