I'll be picking up my casita in a couple of days and really enjoyed this video. Very useful information. Thank you
Congrats! Very exciting. We have lots of videos about upgrades, etc. Happy trails!
You guys are awesome…when we finally get our Casita we hope we see you out on the road somewhere!
Awe thanks. That would be great! We’re planning on being at the Fiberglass Rally at Quartzsite next year. We try to do 1-2 rally’s per year.
You two are absolutely adorable ❤️you make the world a far better place.
Awe thanks!
Just adore you guys. So helpful!
Awesome! Thank you!
great info. cute couple. watching these upgrades, it really makes me want to do about all of them as i try a transition into a casita and do some touring and discovering for a while. thanks for the info.
You’re welcome! Going full-time? Any goals for travel destinations?
I just purchased my first Casita for $500.00,I’ll spend about 1G and will be ready to enjoy, thanks for all your tips!
Wow! That's amazing. You're welcome. Have fun!
You guys are too cute! Thanks, your video was exactly what I was looking for! Very helpful! ❤️
Awe thanks! Glad it was helpful.
And tire advice is great! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
I absolutely Love your sense of humor. That part about the awning had me laughing so hard. Easy to maneauver, and then that active song and all the activity, it was hilarious :D
Awe. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great, useful mods!
I want to copy all of them when we get our Casita.
Thanks for the information, and the links to get them.
You’re welcome!
Enjoyed your video. You have a relaxed down to earth style. I like that. Sure like the cozy little camper. Would love to live in one.
Thanks so much! It really is a great little camper!
Everything, & I mean EVERYTHING on & about a Casita needs to be upgraded, modified, or replaced. EVERYTHING!
Casita has gotten better in the last few years, but, yes, I agree they could do better. Their trailers are selling like hot cakes, so there is no incentive for Casita to make changes. Last I heard, the wait for a new Casita was18 months!
Great vid on your mods, thanks guys!
"Back up camera is cheaper than marriage counseling" ...hah, you should bumper sticker that qoute.
Thanks!
Wooooowww, that casita looks beautiful with those rims😍.
Thank you!
Thank you for showing how to put the awning out. I havent done it yet. Now i know that one person can do it on their own.
You’re welcome!
you guys are so cute, thank you so much for the tour.
You are so welcome!
I Love 💕 Your Beautiful Trailer
Thank you! We love it too!
We just had duplicate keys made. That solves our problem with the heavy always wanting the keys. We’ve had the auto locks at our house with no luck. So sticking with the key on the Cassie. Love your rig.
Thanks. We love it too. Good to know on the house keypad. Been wanting to do that too, but it sounds like it’s not so good.
I tried to have duplicate keys made, but my Home Depot didn’t have blanks for it, so nope. Where did you have your key copies made? Thanks!
Great job! We sold our Independence mainly because of the foot space and the table in between the beds. That Lagun table would have been a mind changer! Loved all your upgrades. You two are hilarious too! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks! Did you buy a different RV?
@@TravelsandTravails, yes. We bought a NuCamp T@b400. Still small, but we love it.
@@lizchilders4154 I'd love to see one of those. Are you happier with it?
@@TravelsandTravails, yes, we both love our T@b400. Still a small RV, but quality made. It has a very nice large wet bath too.
I would love to find and buy an older trailer already set up the right way from knowledgeable owners like the two of you than a brand new one (with all of its factory problems/deficiencies) from a dealer. Some great mods you guys have made and it seems you always take the time to do things the right way. Great job.
Thanks so much! It's all Doug, all I do is stand behind the camera.
We all would…the thing is often upgrades are customer preference; what is an upgrade to one person may be the opposite to another.
True
One thought about mounting a backup monitor or GPS display near your rear-view mirror: it's great if you've got young eyes, but if you wear bifocals it's the absolute *worst* location. Set it up somewhere lower so you don't have to crane your neck backwards to look at it thru the bottoms of your glasses 😉
Good point!
The last mod that we did on our Casita 17’ Spirit Deluxe is a new door window and shade. We purchased the one that has a handle so you can open or close the shade from the inside. We really like that. I think the next mods we will be doing are the lighted hot water heater switch and the lighted water pump switch. We may look into the Southern Mattress.
Do you have to open the screen door to open the shade on your door? I like to lighted water heater. We might do that too.
@@TravelsandTravails No, you don't have to open the screen. It is made by Zarcor. We bought the one that has the tinted windows with black shade. We purchased it at Zarcor.com. it was not a cheap mod but it has allowed us to see whose knocking at the door. We also put in the switch for the outside light so we can turn on the light if it is dark.
I'll have to check that out!
Do you know the pricing on the Southern Mattress? We are getting the Liberty Deluxe Casita in November 23'
Loved the humor at the end about the video camera being less expensive than marriage counseling. From experience I have to tell you it is also less expensive than repairs to the side of the trailer! I am curious where you got your bed covers - what a lovely pattern.
Good point! I can't remember where I bought them, but I see they are for sale here: www.stoneberry.com/product/cozy-home-southwest-5-pc-comforter-set/1103901-1?CAWELAID=120284920000392123&fbclid=IwAR25o_YRTB2gnA5wuU4Kd9UbE9Fjq6t8zbuA0GHaA2_aX2EMx-ad1nhmkb8
That is too true. I just bought a Casita from a couple who used it just a few times. They weren’t inexperienced in general with towing, with the husband confessing it once took them an hour and a half and a lot of F bombs to hook it up to their tow vehicle.
I love you bed comforters where did you find them ? keep making you videos
Thanks! I got them on overstock, but they don't have them anymore. Found the same ones here: www.stoneberry.com/product/cozy-home-southwest-5-pc-comforter-set/1103901-1?CAWELAID=120284920000392123
@@TravelsandTravails thank you 😊
You guys r wonderful. Great personality, both calm.. both very informative ab the upgrades. Please be safe out there.
Thanks so much! Would be glad to know what videos you are interested in seeing on our channel.
Great video- thank you! Will be picking up Casita 2023. Interest in the awning you installed but can’t make out name of manufacture. Thank you
Congratulations! We have the fiamma awning. You can order one with your Casita.
Please post photos of how you mounted the Lagun hardware - did you brace the support wall through the floor?
Please email your request to travelsandtravails@yahoo.com. I am unable to post photos in comments.
The awning supports go in the brackets on the side of the trailer.
Beware 9f using the awning supports on camper ...very weak....use the ground...especially if their is any wind....ANY WIND......
September 2020, while escaping Hurricane Sally, BOTH Goodyear Marathon tires blew out. Blew out one at a time and about 100 miles apart. Going 60 MPH, 90 degree weather, tire properly inflate, manufactured 2016. Goodyear Marathon are made in CHINA.
That's so scary! Glad you are safe. I'm surprised by the number of times I have heard a similar story.
You mentioned using the heater a lot. What part of the country are you visiting and what time if the year?
We live in Northern California and camp year-round. Recently, we were in the Mammoth Lakes area in October and then we were in Alabama Hills, CA in November. We have camped in the snow several times. I'm not sure if you have a diesel, be we loved the diesel heater that we had in the campervan that we rented in New Zealand! It was so quiet.
I just bought a 2017 Freedom Deluxe; how do I find out what size tanks - potable, gray, and black - that it has? The seller was a second owner and although wonderful people, weren’t very technical or detailed people and knew little about their Casita.
Your videos are so helpful!
Thank you!
The fresh water is either 16 or 23 gallons. Casita may be able to look it up with the VIN. The black water is 15 gallons and the grey water is 32 gallons.
Can I ask what the length of the mattresses are? I am concerened about my height and the bed space length. Great videos, thank you.
83 inches on the longest part.
Working my way through your vids, good job. Pick up my ID in 7 months.
Is awning for sun only ? I'm thinking about skipping it and putting a track for a slide in water proof awning.
Thanks! The awning is primarily for shade, but it is waterproof. Water buildup on top will ruin it though. I see lots of people getting those clam shell shelters that seem pretty functional.
@@TravelsandTravails yes! I don’t have an awning and my clam shelter is da bomb! Worth every penny. I live in Colorado and get quick bursts of wind gusts. I’ve lost an awning on another camper and have seen others ruined too. I had one camper that had an electric awning with flexible arms and a wind sensor that would roll up if it got too windy. That’s the only way I would get another. Not likely to see that anytime soon from Casita. Heck... they can’t even get a decent battery compartment which is one of the very few gripes I have.
@@kjean3306 Truth!
Word of advice you might want to change the lock number now lol
Ha ha! Editing magic here!
Can you tell me about the trailer jack? Our Liberty has the hand crank from the factory and upgrading would be nice.
Yes. It's the Atwood Power Jack. I'll put the link in the video description.
@@TravelsandTravails I take it you're pretty happy with it then?
@@hobmonger works flawlessly!
What is you tow vehicle???...any do you have stabilizer bars and wd hitch?
We tow with a Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. The Andersen hitch provides weight distribution and stabilization.
How often you guys on the road ,and who’s going to take care of your house ?thx
About one week per month. It’s tough to get everything done on the house and trailer, plus the CZcams channel, but we’re retired.
Is there a plug at the head of the bed. 12V or AC? Lots of people sleep with CPAP.
I’m the Independence, there is a 110 plug near the bed on one side.
What is your front jack resting upon? Just curious. Thanks
I just figured out what you were asking. It’s called the Andersen Jack Block. You can find it on Amazon. If you go to travels and travels, it’s listed under “gear we love.”
I'm wondering what size your table top is on the Lagun table. Was that the original table top from your Casita? If not, where did you get it? Our 2016 ID came with 2 tiny tables almost diamond shaped and I want to use a larger rectangle top like yours.
We bought our Casita used, but it did come with the he rectangular table which I believe was original.
Did you order on Amazon or from somewhere else? Love your videos.
The carpet on the walls seem like they'd get dirty, discolor and smell after awhile, would you say that's true? Does it help with sounds and insulation?
No. I’ve vacuumed it occasionally and it never smells. Some people shampoo periodically. It’s really great for sound insulation and quite good for temperature insulation. We have the heater which is loud, but efficient and have been in temperatures in the 20s (degrees F) and been comfortable.
Hello...We have a 2010 Spirit deluxe.......where do you live in No. Cal? We live in Quincy, CA, site of the HUGE Dixie fire last year. Would really love to connect and ask a bunch of questions. Thanks for all you do!
We live close to Placerville. Let us know if you plan to be in the area.
I keep thinking I don’t want to have to sit on the bed to eat a meal but might have to rethink that if I want to go small.
Casita makes 5 floor plans, including one with a dinette. travelsandtravails.com/comparing-the-5-current-casita-trailer-models/
Where did you get your bedspreads?
I got them on Overstock, but they don't have them anymore. Found the same ones here: www.stoneberry.com/product/cozy-home-southwest-5-pc-comforter-set/1103901-1?CAWELAID=120284920000392123
Didnt find a link to the shock upgrade.
You can’t buy them anymore, but Little Home on the Road installs them.
honda generator model? does it run the a/c?
It does on our rig. For you, it depends on you ac unit. It’s the Honda 2200 eu 2200i companion.
Why did you get rid of the scamp?
Several reasons. Most of all, we wanted twin beds.
Russia bought a bunch of tires for military vehicles from China and they had all kinds of tire failure during the Ukraine invasion. Tires on vehicles that had been in storage for sometime.
Serves them right as far as I’m concerned.
No way I'm manually opening an awning.... just saying
Those new push-button awnings are nice!
Gee, if I could I'd just hire these people to upgrade my casita...
Awe, thanks! Little Home on the Road does a great job too.
Cheap Chinese tires! Always buy American
No kidding!
Changing out brand new tires because factory tires are crap does not speak well for the trailer manufacturer. This problem should be addressed by the manufacturer. Penny wise and dollar foolish as it will bring on lawsuits.
I enjoyed this video. You are a charming couple. I like listening to people who have some life experience. I’m not saying you’re old! I would just rather hear from those who are not new at adulthood. Blessings to you both.
Thank you so much!
