- Analysis and review of the Giant Drop control panel at Six Flags Great America, as well as some explanation from Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags St Louis. Explanation of how the control system worked and how to attend and operate the ride.
Thanks for showing the commercial from my playlist at the beginning! Glad it's been of use to people. Once again, great panel review! I've really enjoyed that they've added back in the sound effects on Giant Drop since last year. Really enhances the ride experience.
this is just an idea, but i think you should make a video on like what to do if you're trying to be a ride operator at six flags, how to get faster cycles, what questions they will ask you at interviews, just basic stuff you learned and did so the next generation is as good as you not as bad as other ride ops so more people can enjoy their day instead of waiting 4 hours for maxx force
Great idea!
@@realsfgamfan thanks and great video
@@sebastianjeznach7887 very glad you liked it
@@alexl8552 I am not old enough but when I am I want to be a ride operator at Great America for a summer job just to make some money and have fun but am worried that maybe I will mess up at the interview or something.
Alex Lehman ok thanks
They’re back! These are the BEST videos for my home park, and I’m so happy to see them again!
My favorite youtuber is back!
I love this ride
Any chance I can use a few sections of this video in a video I am making about the SFKK accident? I will give credit of course.
As long as you put a watermark saying sfgamfan over any footage from the video and link to my channel/video in the description, go for it!
Sounds good, and just so you know, you have my vote for park president.
That picture of the panel with the hand hovering is my picture 😂
Nice!
2 questions:
What can you tell us about the balancing piece of it?
Why the fuck did they put the motors at the top of the tower? (Less of a question more of a wtf intamin)
1. No balancing aspect. All sections are independent of one another.
2. Counterweight
@@realsfgamfan 1. Weird, the cga one has that and they're pretty anal about balancing it.
2. Oh, I guess that sort of makes sense, but they could also re cable it so the motors could be on the ground.
@@AmusementLabs but then you need a much longer cable!
@@AmusementLabs could they be balancing it because worried it will tip over? I wonder. I can't think why else.
@@realsfgamfan more cables! Yay! Lol, but look who I'm asking to do this, lol.
Do you know why they leave the disabled cars at the top rather than the bottom?
Cables aren't exposed when it's at the top
since u have worked at sfga for years, how can a team member get trained for more rides
The way I did it was getting into management quick and requesting a different side of the park each year, and since I was management it made sense for me to be certified for every ride. I don't know if they are as liberal about that anymore.
What happens when a cable snaps 7:52, and how did it stay in its place?
There are 3 cables on each section for redundancy in case one snaps.
Any chance you would post that photo of the park layout from the electrical room? Looks like it still has Iron Wolf on it?
Did this tower suck down a lot of electricity when it ran? At least some of the gyro drops aren't counterweighted, Acrophobia wasn't, and when it was put in one of the common problems was it would pull too much amperage. They 'solved' that problem by disabling the motors that rotated the ring. It took a couple of seasons before the rotation was reliably working. Bad design decision imo considering the Intamin parachute drop SFOG had a counterweight for each little 2 seat chair, on a tracks inside the tower.
This is very interesting. I believe that drop had counterweights for each section (6) but I have to check with my intamin expert to know for sure.
@@realsfgamfan It's important to consult with the experts.

Can you please make a video or talk about the old take 5 procedures.
Uploading now
When all the cars go up and are ready to drop do they drop by themselves or is there a button you gotta press and if so which one?
They drop 3-5 seconds after all 6 cars have locked at the top automatically
still didn't get a notification about the video though, just found it on the notification screen at the corner of my pc but on my phone, nothing
I uploaded the past two videos a different way than I usually do, maybe that's why. I'll upload the next one like I usually do and we'll see if that fixes it. otherwise there's a conspiracy!
@@realsfgamfan ok i'll tell you if i got anything
Is their a way u have anything on draggon mountain in Marine land in Canada?
Don't think so, have to take a look at the collection
@@realsfgamfan lol
I didn't know the KK operators just freaked and ran off. That was a bad incident and happened because of total cowardice lol.
Totally preventable. Failure of both maintenance and operations.
can we get Batman?
I did do one a long time ago, I took it down because it wasnt up to my standard or as in-depth as it should have been, a re-analysis is coming soon
