- Six Flags Great America is debuting a brand new dive coaster for the 2025 season called Wrath of Rakshasa! It stands 180 feet in the air, dropping riders at a 96 degree angle and sending them into 5 inversions- the most on a dive coaster. He didn’t say it was suppose to go to Great America, he said it was designed for that space, that’s why we have been hearing about the Dr Diabolical clone for so long. I think they caught wind of how many people were disappointed with a clone they chose custom. Clearly this was a buy two or more for a deal. We probably choose to put theming money into custom layout.

Park President stated during the press conference that the animation intentionally had no theming because theyre keeping it secret for now, theyre "retheming" that area, and both wrath and demon will get substantial theming, its gonna be great.
I truly hope its not a "if the budget allows" situation, but keeping my hopes up!

@@CoasterStudios they are working with some designers for about 6 months. It will be heavily themed “we want to do all out”. It will also utilize the locker system at Fiesta Texas. And they are thinking about retheming the pathway between Demon and this.

This is a HOME RUN for Great America
A Rakshasa demon is a tiger demon that wears a blue cloak with hints of yellow and red in certain lore which is the color scheme chosen here here! This is my home park and so excited this isn’t a clone. During the in park press conference yesterday to announce, the park president said that Diabolical was originally designed for this plot of land but they passed it off to Fiesta instead. Nice we are getting one without the mid course!

As someone who’s home park is great America, I too was hoping for a true standout coaster, but I’m not mad. Even though I was expecting (and not excited about) a new Dive coaster coming to the park, this truly seems like the best one, so I’m more impressed than I thought I’d be.
i actually have really enjoyed the smaller scale b&m dives a LOT (Emperor/Iron Menace). they are significantly better paced than the old school, 10 across, one trick pony dives. so i’m very looking forward to this

They never ever get a coaster that lasts any decent amount of time. The last time thet did it was Raging Bull in 1999. Every ride ends in like 40 seconds or less. It's so frustrating. I'd rather they wait even longer and add something good. There was room to make Maxx Force longer. And couldn't believe when I hit the breaks so soon the first time I rode Goliath. They always cheap out. It drives me crazy. This park used to be my home park so it still hurts me. I still have love for this park. They could benefit from a Giga for sure. Maybe a launched giga. A ride that lasts a minute would be great!

The American Eagle ride is 2:23 long!
RMC American Eagle has the potential to be the A+ coaster that Taylor was talking about. Idk if they would ever do it but it would be the best shot of getting that type of coaster. While I am excited for Wrath Of Rakshasa, the worries of current B&Ms is a thought
I am someone who likes American Eagle, but if they RMC’d that, it could end up being the best coaster on the planet due to the sheer size of its structure and I really hope they do that

Completely agree. RMC American Eagle could be a world class coaster if they go all out on it and not cut corners. Make it 225-250 feet tall add some bold elements make that helix start high and get real low to the ground with a high bank (would play great during a duel) and you have the park icon... 'The Great American Eagle'. I think a sweet first element would be a double zero G roll high in the air for both the red and blue sides. Seeing what Universal is doing with 'Stardust Racers' we see how innovative a dueling coaster can be. Slap a sweet lighting package on it. *chef's kiss*
Great America I hear has no plans to RMC Eagle they originally did before they saw the empty Iron Wold plot for Goliath but they decided not to.

I think this is a really great addition - I agree that it doesn't just look like a one trick pony. ALSO at the press conference, the park president said they were working with multiple designers to have some form of theming for the ride!!!!
This is the best layout I have ever seen on a dive coaster. The rest of them are so minimalistic and focus far too much on the drop aspect instead of adding value through other track elements. I love that Great America made this their new addition, because it’s one of the only things this park was missing before

The name is very much meant to tie into the fact that Demon is right across the midway.
They're looking at reworking the surrounding area to coincide with the two demon rides.
They want to do this ride up, theme it to the nines. I'm expecting a pre-show.
Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger was originally designed for the space Wrath is going in.
Since this thing is going over the paths and midways, they're going to have pass through lockers.
They need to do something to the Demon, as that ride is old and tired!

fellow Illinois rollercoaster junkie here, I have ever been on a dive coaster so I am happy to say this will be my first ever dive coaster :D
I'm impressed they went for an original layout. Thought it was gonna be a clone good job Great America
180 ft tall is crazy with the compact maneuvers of the smaller dives - that inversion after the dive loop reminds me a lot of steel vengeance’s first inversion, and rotating that much on the far wing seat would feel wild 🤩 also the last inversion looks profiled to have some kind of sideways hangtime exiting the inversion which will be really unique, and the ride as a whole looks really intense! It looks like it’s flying through that demonic knot.
This layout looks fantastic and may be the best i've seen for a dive coaster, and i love how there's no midcourse brake. People will definitely have trouble saying that name though LOL

I'm glad Demon isn't being removed. It was my first inverting coaster, and it would have been a shame to see it removed. I'm glad to see it preserved for hopefully a long time to come.
Speaking of older rides, it would be nice they brought back the ferris wheel in some form.

Sky Whirl coming back would be legendary. But it’s sadly not going to happen. Waagnir Biro no longer makes the model and all multi-wheels are extinct.

Demon is always a great ride during Halloween as well and the soundtrack is always a great 80s 90s? song also can't believe the song is almost 26min long
As a Great America native, I really like the addition especially since they didn’t have to kill off Demon. For the next addition, I’d be cool with a large custom raptor or a Giga or something like that in place of American Eagle. An S&S axis would be OK, but I feel like Joker has the spinning and Maxx has the launch so it wouldn’t do much.
If you look at the bottom left at around 0:13, you can notice a support beam blocking the Hometown Square entrance. I hope that’s just a render issue and the actual ride doesn’t have that there cause it would probably be intrusive towards that little corner of the park.
Something that I thought of when you were explaining about the “A+ Coaster,” is that this, being my home park. Is sort of irrelevant towards the GP. I for one agree 100% that Goliath is the best coaster in the park. But my friends and family all believe Raging Bull is that “A+ Coaster” you were explaining about. That’s why I think they’re holding off on the extreme project.

@@CoasterStudiosas someone who has been going to the park for years with family and friends, almost everyone says that Raging Bull is the best ride there. I also know that many of them are very intimidated by Goliath because of how ridiculous it is, but that’s why I think it’s the best ride there
If raging Bull is the ride of the park it just turned 25 so we could use another stand out, which I would guess is not coming next. Family coaster next…..probably a B&M…..then if we finally get a giga it’ll be Zamperla :-)
I would argue that raging bull only seems like an A+ coaster because it’s your home park. However, compared to other parks that draw the same as SFGA, the ride lineup is overall lackluster and there’s not really anything crazy. To put it in perspective, six flags magic mountain and cedar point draw similar attendance attendance, and both have significantly more, and better, coasters.

Completely agree. They need to finally get a top tier ride. Cedar Point probably has 4 rides that would be #1 at Great America. (Millennium, SV, Maverick, Top Thrill - when it's working)
Great America has a great diverse lineup, but a Giga on the east side of the park would be awesome!

I love the layout! It’s very creative and a great use of space. I think this was a great choice for the park. That being said, I wish it either had a water effect or dropped you into a tunnel like Oblivion. That’s the only change I would make to it if I could.
Park President John Krajnak has stated that they are going to do their best with adding theming. I don’t know to what level. I asked about the Banshee scream at KI and if they could do that howl of Rakshasa before the drop. Marcus Leshock was able to confirm they were trying to do something like that.
I’m just glad they’re getting a B&M. X-Flight is an average wing coaster, Superman is an expectant clone so Raging Bull is carrying all the B&Ms in the park.

Its crazy to think how Great America has literally eveything now at their park..
Demon - A surprisingly good Arrow Dynamics corkscrew, a good start for getting to that next level of rollercoasters
Whizzer - A really great family coaster that has some great low to the ground elements, and that spiral chainlift will always be cool
American Eagle - A good old racing woodie, the helix is pretty rough but other than that it is a fun ride with some good airtime.
Viper - Honestly the best wooden coaster at the park, such great airtime on that thing.
Vertical Velocity - Its Vertical Velocity... its fun, that's pretty much it lol.
Raging Bull - That drop is one of the best drops on a B&M period. I like the unique layout, even if we don't get a lot of airtime it's still great, best in the park imo.
Batman - Very fun and intense B&M invert, one of the best out of the clones because of it being the OG.
Superman Ultimate Flight - I. Love. Pretzel Loops....
Sprocket Rockets and Little Dipper - Good for the kids!
Batman Dark Knight - A really fun and intense wild mouse
Goliath - A really great first drop with a lot of great elements, wish it was longer but it is the defintion of short but sweet.
Joker - It spins
Maxx Force - That launch is the craziest thing I have ever witnessed in my life, that zero-g roll was one of the best inversions I have experienced in my life.
X-Flight - A solid wing coaster with some nice elements and theming, especially that slow barrel roll through the ATC tower.
Wrath of Rakshasa - Looks like one of the best B&M dive coaster layouts in the world, hopefully its a great addiotion to Great America
I hope next time we get that Giga, RMC'ed Eagle, or Velocicoaster that everyone is talking about but, I am happy with what we got because it just filled another void in Great America's already great line-up.
Edit: I also find it funny that they added a demonic knot to a coaster named after a demon, heh, ironic.
Agreed that this wasn't my 1st pick for the park. But it's a welcomed addition. Was really hoping for them to find a way to weave a single rail coaster along the employee walk way in th middle of the park since those have such a small footprint
All I have to say is I just got back from fiesta..and Dr dobical was amazing....I hit the station breaks and was like omggggg that was amazing....hands down my favorite dive so far..yes its small but it packs a punch....and originally I wanted a invert for us..but I was wrong..give us a dive like Dr dobical..or little longer..it will kill at VF period 💯💯🎤🎤🎤 hashtag give us a dive 26 at vf.....👀👀👀👀... Hopefully we next...
I mean, what would be your first choice? Let’s be realistic here. They aren’t getting a giga or some other insanely expensive coaster. This is probably the best realistic coaster they could get, and it’s perfect for the park.

The reason the old ones don’t rattles it’s because the track is huge! These mini dives I think are going to get worse the taller they get.
When the park president announced Wrath of Rakshasa, he mentioned wanting to make the ride "whole". Fully themed. Full story. But at this time it sounds like they're still in the concept phase with designers. Not revealing anything until they have final designs for the full area.
Considering Dr. Diabolical was possibly being cloned to Great America, I would expect similar level of theming.

Wrath of Rack Salsa
Given that this was done under Selim’s watch, I think Great America did very well here. It’s the largest coaster he approved. I think it’s a really good addition, and hopefully the Cedar Fair guys can come in and deliver the A+ in a few years.
I live 45 minutes from Great America and go frequently. I also go to Cedar Point once every summer and Valravn is definitely a fun one, maybe my #4 (Couldn't get on TT2 yet). Can't wait for similar near me.
great america is still really fun to be at. considering the prices keep skyrocketing… it’s still worth it. Really hope roaring rapids re opens, it’s the nostalgia for me. That and splash water falls was all i did growing up. This park is great and clean.

As far as theming goes, it's been confirmed now that the company that provided theming for CF rides like Orion, Tumbili, and soon Rapterra will be doing the theming for Rakshasa as well.
Awesome addition. That said, I do feel there are enough dive coasters now. Wherever you go in the US or Europe, there will be one nearby. This is the second one in the Midwest. Maybe if Oaks or Silverwood wants to build one... and I can see one of these coming to Six Flags St. Louis. Other than that, B&M can retire this model.
Protip: look at the hands! If the person you're talking to has their thumbs on the wrong side of their hands, you're talking to a Rakshasa in disguise!
The one problem with this is even though it might be a pretty different experience in the park, it's the parks 3rd B&M with 5 inversions where your feet dangle. Batman and X Flight were already similar in many ways like they are around the same height, same speed, same length, same number of inversion, both B&M, and both had the feet dangle sensation. Then they are adding this.

It may not be a standout ride but it’s still an excellent choice. I’m really impressed with my home park and their creativity with this ride. A dive machine here is great for the lineup and it’s the only one in the Midwest besides Valravn.
There will definitely be more coming to SFGAm very soon. Roaring rapids is clearly not in the best shape, and something has to fill the space of Mardi Gras hangover. Will more likely be flat ride(s), but I won’t complain bc the Mardi Gras section desperately needs some new life
Six flags great america is my home park and to say I’m stoked is an understatement. The only dive I have ridden is SheiKra at BG Tampa on a trip a few years ago and i loved it. I cannot wait to ride this.
Honestly i predicted this a year ago after seeing d.d get built in fiesta texas. I’m super excited for this ride because i’ve never ridden one before, 5 elements is cool + i’ve never ridden a dive coaster before, a 6° beyond vertical drop is cool cause i’ve never ridden one before!! there’s a lot of reasons for me to be excited especially to see the park fit the ride in the space and see how it pleases the surroundings. this ride has also brought a little fear back into my little coaster enthusiast heart hahaha. Goliath being my favorite roller coaster at the park for pure speed, adrenaline , airtime (ejector) and cool hang time through inversions , i’ve gotten a custom to the feeling of a mild high thrill roller coaster. I did want something more thrilling that would have been that signature ride for great america that also would have broken records and pushed the bill in the roller coaster industry but i also thought about what you said. There are so many other plots of land in the park which just saves them more opportunities to not only please the g.p but also cater to the roller coaster enthusiasts as well 🍾 I LOVE WRATH OF RAKSHASA AND IM EXCITED TO EXPERIENCE IT !!!

Great America is my home park and I even worked there for two summers many years ago. Your “A+” coaster will come when they either tear down American Eagle and build something massive on that plot of land or they convert it to an RMC… a la Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point.

A dive was not my first choice, and I am still waiting for a standout. But I was so scared it’d be as short as diabolical and I am very impressed with this layout.
Honestly, they created a GREAT fit for the park. It’s taller than I was expecting and I think the theming will be great.
Six Flags seems to be stepping it up. Maybe we’ll get out standout in a few years. They have plenty more plots to work with!

This is gonna be great! The views will be fantastic, and this is a good addition to the park. An A+ ride here could be American Eagle if they rmc it. It would be the first hybrid coaster here at Great America, and they could race again. So yeah.
i will ride it and film amazing videos of this coaster. from all angles. i do cedar point and kings island videos. i love roller coasters also. just got back from cedar point and i cant wait to go to the haunt at kings island. i do that each year and film a big haunt video each year. and now that six flags and cedar point and kings island are all one in the same. my season pass next year will be for all of them.
About this ride being a supporting coaster - I agree its not like the most insane coaster ever, but definitely hoping for that A+ ride for 2026 (GA's 50th anniversary) I'd say slap it in the huge plot that Raging Rapids takes up rn.
I thought it was interesting that the promo video features gray skies instead of blue. I imagine it's to make the blue track pop better, but you don't often see this kind of video with a completely overcast sky.

You pretty much read my mind.
The ONLY problems i have (which are technically minor) are the fact that 1. The color scheme doesnt feel demonic, it looks a lot like scream. And 2. This is a great addition but as you said, its another supporting ride for a park of this caliber. We need our BIG one that people think of when they think of great america. Our Steel vengeance, our Mako, our Kingda ka and el toro. Were the only top tier park between both legacy chains that don't have that ride and its a shame at this point. Idk when or if we will get that ride but all i can hope is that it really is amazing.
The demon is the most themed coaster at great America in my opinion plus it’s a really fun attraction happy to the demon live on 😊
People always forget Dark Night… that is _clearly_ the most themed roller coaster at the park

Im glad they didn't have to remove Demon for this, at least it shows Demon there still in the animation.
Here’s what’s interesting: this coaster will be around 200 ft shorter in track length than Valravn, yet it will contain a lot more elements (and no MCBR). I honestly think this will be better than Valravn, and Cedar Point is my home park.
I would guess we're gonna see a ton of these 7 seater "medium-large" Dives continue to pop up.
Nearly the same capacity as the full size rig, still delivers a crowd pleasing thrill, while [I'm assuming] saving quite a bit of money in not using the wide gauge track?
Remember the 50th anniversary is in 2026, so the potential for two coasters two years in a row is possible. Maybe they rework American eagle and make it operable for racing again? 👀 or turn it into a rmc

Ikr! Everyone is like "don't get rid of the demon" meanwhile it's a painful ride and that space would have made this new ride much longer.
@@NickWheeler9559 Exactly! It’s a waste of space and everybody even complains on how painful it is yet they want it to stay for “nostalgia”? I could understand it if they retracked the ride to make it smoother but if they aren’t fixing anything it should go. Especially when it breaks down every hour 💀
No mid course brakes.
Most coaster enthusiasts enjoy the more intense rides. But a majority of people enjoy thrilling , but also re rideable coasters that anyone from 7 years old to 70 can ride several times over.
That's why my top ten are all BandM. Fury might be dethroned. I'll be at six flags great america opening day
This is my home park so I’m happy with getting a new roller coaster! I totally agree though that we are missing that one stand out roller coaster though! If they take down American Eagle that would be a great spot for a giga one day!
It’s the trains that make these rough. Any new B&M trains especially those with vest restraints are VERY rough

This kind of has the same problem as Alpen fury with all the zero g roll like elements in a row, but either then than this looks great.
I hear this comment that the coasters there are supporting, but let’s be honest, a bunch of supporting coasters in one park still makes for a good park.

I went to Great America today and saw huge groups of people looking at the signs they have about the ride and the public is already eating this up
No idea why they chose 7 across seating for such a highly attended park. It’s like b&m doesn’t want the high capacity of the older dive coasters. I miss when dive coasters had either 8 across or 10 across seating.
I think its for cost, B&M is hella expensive and those 8 - 10 across seating have huge tracks, so making that track just a tad smaller saves a lot of money.
This park has completely changed they should really tear down Dark Night and put it there
