About Spider-Man: Peter Parker's life changes when he is bitten by a genetically altered spider and gains superpowers. He uses his powers to help people and finds himself facing the Green Goblin, an evil maniac.
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Willem Dafoe's performance as the Green Goblin is unmatched. He really didn't hold back and really made the Green Goblin this icon that we see today. Truly perfect casting. His performance really comes to fruition in No Way Home.

That was an unscripted line. It was Dafoe's real reaction.

Green Goblin has always been Spider-Man's deadliest and most menacing foe in the comics and Willem Dafoe brings that perfectly to the big screen. His expressions, his voice, his laugh, his mannerisms, and his brutality. He's like a living comic book villain. Dafoe even insisted on doing his own fight scenes because that was a big part of the fun for him (as well as his way of getting into the character) and it really shows.

It’s actually incredibly sad how his final thoughts were about Harry. How ashamed he was of his actions and how he doesn’t want to be seen as the monster he knew he was. It was the goblin all up until that point, when he’s at the end and it’s only Norman left with the damage.

The final battle scene was probably one of the most brutal fight in the comic book movies.

God the acting skill to pull off that “DON’T LET HIM TAKE ME AGAIN,” You can understand where Norman Osborn left and the green goblin came back in to try and pretend to be Norman and lure Spider-Man into a trap.

When I saw Norman becoming Green Goblin for the first time in theaters it scare the living crap of me. I was only 11 years old in 2002 at the time. Defoe is still the greatest Green Goblin and no one will ever top his performance.

There have been a lot of comments that Willem Dafoe should play the joker. I say that would be a pretty good idea.
What makes me really sad is that we'll probably never get a better version of the Goblin than Dafoe's performance. He added so much more to the character with his performance, where previously the Goblin had been a campy crazy villain or a sort of petty manchild obsessed with revenge, Dafoe's version was sinister and sadistic and genuinely scary.
I even think the mask is a great design for the character, I don't think going fully comic book accurate would have worked in live action, and there's a long history of great movie villains (particularly in horror) that wear masks to hide their identity and terrify their victims. And adding the detail that Norman had a collection of frightening masks from other cultures was a brilliant touch to suggest an origin for the Goblin persona.
Because of his performance as the Green Goblin, he instantly became my favorite Spidey villain.
Osborn really is insane.
