- I liked the cartoon and I loved how they did Green Goblin so I decided to share.
This was originally going to be just for myself but I wanted to share it with CZcams. ❤️
Bitchass CZcams marked this for kids and I don't know why. Next time I'll have to throw in a screen that says "fuck" for 2 seconds or something. Sorry that all the comments were deleted after a YEAR. So annoying.
Edit: Not anymore! Yay!
7:09 me anytime I want something turned on
Fun fact: Green Goblin calling Hobgoblin a "cheap imitation" is a reference to how readers reacted to Hobgoblin's debut in the comics.
Yes except in this iteration it doesn't make sense as Hobgoblin came first.
Well the show runners wanted to make a different storyline and build they're way up to the green goblin and make sure they do him justice
this show laughs about many stuff from the comics, being Scarlett Spider's scene the most memorable roast "It's just like a bad comic book" well back when marvel had the guts to slap themselves in the face very recurrently
Sadly Internal disputes and ego made the reveal of the Hobgoblin confusing.
@@Exo49rnope, they wanted to use green goblin first hut the hobgoblin toys came first so they had to use hobgoblin first otherwise they would've lost a huge amount of money.
"What's wrong, Spider-man? No quick comebacks. No clever one-liners."
Savage.
I find it fascinating that Green Goblin was only in about 6 episodes of the series and arguably has the most impact on Spider-Man as a character.
Having the Green goblin as a split personality that talks to Norman and manipulating him into doing awful things was also featured in the first Spider-man movie from 2002, I wonder if that was inspired by this show.
It was. This was the first example of it.
Basically everything in the show inspired everything in the Sam Rami trilogy
The whole Rami trilogy was inspired by the 90s series and Christopher Reeves Superman. That why you have that part where Tobey Spider-Man running in slow motion ripping his shirt to show his costume. Mary Jane is main love interested just like the 90s series. Goblin is spit personality. Which is the version l like best. So much character potential and uniqueness with split personality.
The Dr. Ock sun machine idea and Peter being a fan. Dr. Connors being his professor.
@@ryanvanbeek2673yup the symbiote making peter angry too
Even in the comics, at least prior to his death in the night, Gwen Stacy dies he had a spit personality. Granted, he was a bit more dickish then the Rami version
I like the goblin and norman dynamic in this show, its a shame that no one talks about it.
The goblin loves norman and wants to make norman's life better by doing very atrocious things while norman hates the goblin.
I don't know if goblin loved Norman. He was happy when he said "Norman Osborn no more. Now there is only green goblin"
@@taz9863 this could be Norman Osborn embracing the goblin but who knows
I love green Goblin too
@@dipanshurathore4287 we all love gobby!
@@yourfatboy5359 or succumbing to it because of all the lives he's hurt or killed weighs too much on his conscious otherwise. I honestly feel so sad for norman here. He doesn't want to hurt anyone again. He loves his son and wants to be there for him more. It's sad because he was legitimately _trying_ to do better, and be better.
'You sins are exceeded only by your WEIGHT!'
" because of my WEIGHT "
The fact that the back-and-forth scene in the mirror is still animated so they could feasibly be each other's reflections just goes to show why this is the true king of animated series
I actually read the comics w/ this Goblin voice in my head.
Its a great experience
It matched so well!
“Let me out Norman…..LET ME OUT NOW!!!”
“No! No! NoooooooooAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!! That scene HAUNTED me as a kid!
Same here
Even better when you consider it's the same voice actor, Neil Ross. That's a great piece of work.
Same !!
I love that part!!!! 😁
Its nightmare fuel brother. Willem Dafoe did his research for sure.
Can't believe its been 25 years and Mary Jane is still just in some random dimension, biggest unresolved plot thread of my life time smh
I mean, safe to assume mj and osborn died since they r stuck in limbo and there is no food or water so...yeah im pretty sure they died there
The producers cut off the 90s silver surfer cartoon on a cliffhanger, right when Thanos was going to destroy the universe. That has been the biggest unresolved plot thread in my life time.
Same for Green Goblin who like Mary Jane was also left adrift in some parallel dimension never to see Harry ever again.
@@javiervasquez625 might be confusing you with someone else but I am pretty sure we've interacted before in one of the mainline Zelda channels, like Zeltik or Banditgames. Small internet indeed.
I think one of the writers of the series have written a book about how the series would have ended.
Love how parker hides his identity changing in broad daylight in nyc .... but goblin is able to sneak up on him and see him while screaming to himself and flying that diesel glider
the glider didnt even wake aunt may up flying 2 feet over her bed
Fun Fact: Sam Rami based Spider-Man and Green Goblin from Spider-Man 1 off this series
I guess this is the closest we’re ever going to get to seeing Green Goblin vs the Joker.
It wouldn't be very interesting because Goblin would be too strong
I've loved this series since I was a kid, and that was a long while after the 90s marvel animated craze ended. I was born 2002, grew up with the Raimi series and this, and THIS, in my opinion is up there with Dafoe, maybe even better. The "Justice is blind no longer" line is one I recite to this day every now and again to myself. Will always cherish and adore this series. Spectacular, the 90s animated series and Raimi trilogy will always be top tier for me. Thanks for uploading this.
Close, Spectacular Goblin is the best.
@@NostalgiaStudiosinc96 this show's characters were more inspiring & less of archtypes though I appreciate spectacular spiderman from another real world angle of how the world really is... wolverine and xmen, that needed a season2 aired
Same for me dude
Shame they not continue 2003 cartoon and 2008...
I also like that they used the 2 people drop in both the Sam raimi spider man and the new one as well
I have to say, introducing the Hobgoblin first and then having the Green Goblin appear second actually worked really well.
8:17-8:56 *This* is the way I wish they had portrayed Norman/Goblin the entire series. During that whole party sequence, he is clearly bat-guano insane, knows who Peter is but he also knows who *he* is. There's no separation between the Goblin and Norman because they're the same person. That's the way it was in the comics.
This show gave a unique take on Norman/Goblin and I really enjoyed it because while they emphasised his instability they didn’t go any kind of redemption route.
I am also preferable to the comics being less “good man gone bad” and more “bad man gone insane” route.
Neil Ross: One of the best Green Goblins
(I consider him on par with Willem Dafoe.)
What about Steve Blum
Me too!
@@dante_0962 Meh.
When I read the comics, it was always Ross' voice in my head.
@@dante_0962 Steve blum is the goat
I saw a random guy recently in real life who looked like the perfect Green Goblin he had Willem Dafoe’s face and strong brown waves
Goblin is Spidermans Joker😂
It’s interesting to see how they changed certain things because they weren’t allowed to actually kill anyone in a kids cartoon.
We have the classic scene from the comics where Osborn is defeated by being hit with his own glider, but instead of impaling and killing him, in the cartoon it has to knock him through a portal.
4:10 Norman:No...Not Again!!
Green Goblin:I'm your friend, Norman!
Norman:You're not my friend! You're some... Monster!
"No!"
I like the showing of Osborn at that dinner with Peter, Harry, and MJ. That wasn't Norman Osborn, it was basically Goblin in a human suit.
It reminds me of the scene in the Spider-Man 2002 film where the Osborns, Parkers, and MJ were together for Thanksgiving and Norman was piecing together that Spidey and Peter were the same man. Given that the movie has similar beats to this 90s show story (Goblin talking to Norman in the mirror and explaining his origin, for example), I wouldn't be surprised if the 90s series was part of the source material for the movie script.
It was. This series was one of the biggest inspirations on the Raimi movies
It's clear that it was, in this animated series Goblin perishes by his own hands trying to hit Spider-Man with his glider and instead hitting himself and remaining trapped in another dimension. In the first movie Goblin dies impaling himself with his own glider after having tried to hit Spider-Man with it just like in the animated series.
Spidy’s true nemesis 😈
What about Venom? Venom is more personal in his attacks
@@matthewjenkins4559Venom is portrayed as a dangerous monster, but he has been shown to have redeeming qualities, to the point he is more of an anti-hero these days as opposed to an outright villain the cartoons normally portray him as. Hell, Carnage is more dangerous than Venom. The Green Goblin is always Spidey's true arch-enemy.
@@matthewjenkins4559 Green Goblin killed his first girlfriend... and is the father of his best friend. Doesn't get more personal than that. Only reason people like Venom more because he's easily marketable and edgy.
@@dr.feelgoodmalusphillips2475He also crippled Flash (who had become one of Peter's best friends by that point), buried Aunt May alive and poisoned Mary Jane, causing her to miscarry. Just a few of the horrible stuff the Goblin has done to Peter on a personal level, no other villain comes close.
No doubt
Because of the toy-driven interference of the Hobgoblin, we get moments here that we don't in the comics, like Osborn's reaction to Spider-man being Peter Parker. In the comic it was understated and not noteworthy because the reader didn't yet know who Green Goblin was, until the end of said issue. Which was Amazing Spider-man (Volume 1/1963) #39.
To be fair, if it wasn't for that, Norman and Harry's arcs would've been shorter and we wouldn't have had the ongoing mystery of the Hobgoblin's true identity.
I'm surprised the goblin didn't expose Fisk as the Kingpin right there
Had Spider-Man not intervened, he probably would have.
I love to think that the Raimi Movies are adaptations of the 60’s - 70’s Spidey comics as well as this animated series. A lot of the changes made to the show carried over to the Raimi trilogy because frankly there great changes to the myth is of the character. Raimi Trilogy may be my favorite live action Spider-Man, but it owes a lot to this beautiful adaptation.
The way i see it is that this show made most of the tropes and odeas that we know about spider-man, but raimi films are what solidified them in pop culture.
2:22 Possibly the best way to roast the Kingpin 😂
Grandfather is essentially the Green Goblin of the KND
I love that episode where spiderman is mad at goblin and goblin falls into the portal that episode was heartbroken and had me on the edge of seating
1:13 so that's where the "we are who we choose to be, now choose!" scene came from in the 2002 Raimi fiilm!
8:58 Really cool detail of showing that the two personas are now working together.
I really hope the Goblin we get in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 leans more towards this and Sam Raimi’s interpretation of the character. They’re the two best imo, with Spectacular Spider-Man close behind.
Very possible, Avi Arad wanted to use this series as the basis for the movies and there are multiple area's where Gobby's arc in particular was reflective of that.
After seeing how over the top venom was I have a feeling he’s gonna just be a big mutant monster which would suck because it’s far less interesting than when hes a split personality
@@allwalledup The pumpkin bombs, helmet and references to the glider are literally in the first game. They’re definitely not going the Ultimate route.
The green goblin sees himself as a hero, born to get revenge on those who wronged his creator: "Norman Osborn."
In the eyes of the green goblin: anyone who gets in the way of his idea of justice: is a villain who needs to be dealt with.
The green goblin doesn't believe in jail time.
Either you're part of the solution, or you don't deserve to live.
That's how he thinks.
Loved this animated series when I was a kid. And still do.
Green Goblin. Stand Back For The Real Goblin!
Hobgoblin: WHAT?!
Green Goblin: THE GREEN GOBLIN!
Norman Osborn in the Spider-Man TAS showed a bit of hesitation for commiting so much atrocities as the Green Goblin.
Whereas in the Comics, Norman Osborn was cunning and ruthless. And he never hesitated to torture or destroy Spider-Man throughout his life. He orchestrated the events of the Clone Saga, killed Ben Reilly, forming the Cabal, and most importantly, he killed Gwen Stacy.
8:20 Best handshake between super strong archenemies.
3:22 I laughed at this shit maniacally as a child, and as a grown man, I still laugh at this shit. This is the most hilarious scene in the entire series.
Norman don't you understand
😂 he talk like gnome

Venom driving a truck exists, you know.

*HONK! HONK!*
8:59 when goblin appears through the smoke is excellent
When I was a kid, I thought Green Goblin and Starscream has the same voice actor...man, Neil Ross got range!
Neil Ross's Norman/Green Goblin performance is SO underrated! I think Willem definitely took a lot of inspiration from it
Neil Ross voiced The Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) in Spider-Man (1981-1982) before Spider-Man (1994-1998). He also voiced the Puppet Master and Fing Fang Foom in the 1990s Fantastic Four and Iron Man animated tv shows during the time he was voicing the Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) in the same year or, recording.
Also Bentley and Moneybags in Spyro: Year of The Dragon.
Loved this series when I was a kid. And I have to admit it… when Norman became The Green Goblin that was scary.
It would be interesting to see from Goblin's and Norman's point of view in a Green Goblin movie, two personalities in conflict and communicating one another, like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Either a movie of an alternate universe where Spiderman doesn't exist or Spiderman does but isn't seen around due to Goblin's evading him but would be seeing in the very last scene clashing towards each other.
A villain's origin movie.
They already did something like this with gollum in lord of the rings
@@keithtorgersen9664 But i meant GREEN GOBLIN, not Gollum. And what stops doing it? It would be interesting to see from a villain's point of view, especially from a dissosiative villain.
They did Venom and Morbius and I have enough

THIS was gold. Nowadays movies with "Spider-Man" in the title don't even have Spider-Man as main character.

@@hydroxytriptamine3554 you can cry all you want but real or not into the Spiderverse is miles better than whatever the fuck Lotus was trying to be, but you probably don't see it cause you care more about the superficial stuff like Spiderman being white rather than him acting in character, or the stories actually exploring the character's themes of responsibility and whatnot in a well constructed narrative.
5:01 - 5:47 was my favorite best part
Poor Norman, must be awful having a body snatcher in your brain
11:21 Green Goblin’s screams Like Beavis from Beavis & butt-head
4:48 My favorite part of the universe.

@11:11 The Fox Kids version of Willem Dafoe
one of neil ross's best roles
He also portrayed Wolverine in both Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends and in X-Men’s Pyrde of the X-Men pilot.
Green Goblin - Double jeopardy, Spider-Man there's no way you can save two at the same time.
Lex Luthor - Yes, Superman double jeopardy. Even you with your great speed couldn't stop both of them at once.
Nice reference, Marvel.
One of my favorite villain ever, I loved him as a kid, I've always found him so funny 😂
10:03 is my favorite GG moment in this series, way too funny knowing the full context 😂😂😂
The best of the best of Green Goblin.
The 90s animated show showcased Norman suffering from a split personality disorder like Harvey dent has with his monstrous alter ego Two face in which time in time again he tries to maintain control over his other half at bay so thing Norman is desperately trying to do with himself in the show than what the movies could show us at least the show did it better than what we could've gotten in live action.
my introduction to Spiderman many years ago
Green Goblin-Strong enough to have it all, TOO WEAK TO TAKE IT!
At least this version of the Green Goblin didn't accidentally impale himself with his glider.
They kind of had it happen with him trying to impale Spider-Man with the glider, him sensing it and avoiding it, and the glider hitting Norman in the chest, but instead of impaling him it knocked him into the portal.
You mean like the comic book version? Lol
And it happened in 2002’s Spider-Man as well.
Oh
Because it’s a kids show, the closest they get having the glider cause his demise in animation since getting impaled by a blade works for PG-13 live action.
I love This Green goblin in the spider-man 1994
This goblin was so funny
Give credit to Green Goblin for not wanting to disturb Aunt May's slumber.
"LET ME OUT NOW!!!!!!!!"
The best green Goblin ever
This Green Goblin will never not be funny.
6:14 Ok he’s insane 😅😅😅😅😅😅
His voce for the goblin is grate I love the goblin in the movies he gave me nightmares as a kid but this guy is grate as well

Nice way to make an entrance"stand back for the real goblin the grean goblin 😮
This Green Goblin is amazing, but I still prefer Steve Blum's voice
you forgot the part where he reveals his identity to his son at the end, nice video tho 👍
Did Sam Rami took inspiration from this cartoon for the first Spider-Man movie 2002 and we got them together in No way home together with Tom Holland
Tim Burton would’ve done the Goblins more justice.
I do love the Raimi-verse version portrayed by Willem Dafoe, but Burton would stay faithful to the grotesque and medieval Goblin costume instead of the futuristic and generic green armor they would usually put on the Osbournes.
I’d pay a fortune for willem dafoe, jk Simmons, Tom holland, sydney Sweeney, Vincent donofrio, zendaya, and Jacob batalon to reprise their roles and reenact this episode
Disney needs to bring this show back and Gargoyles to finish them off.
Cats aren't curious.

"Curiosity killed the kid."
That's what happened.

Is it just me? Or did the 90s Spider-Man cartoon feel sped up?
Yeah it was only 64 episodes and somehow managed to get Peter married and tie a shit ton of arcs and cameos togethers. It's rushed but well done.
@@AdamAnouer Yeah. It's like the pacing of the narrative is on crack yet 90s Spider-Man still manages to tell its story just as nicely as BTAS's slow boil of a narrative with the same run time.
