Wow, the Olds turned out great!!!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
love these old American cars
I wouldn't worry about the difference between the decal and lower body. Often one was paint and the other decal, and didn't match from the factory, either. Great job as always!
Thanks!!
I just done this last week. Nice kit one of my favorite
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!
Thanks Thomas!!👍🏻👍🏻
I like using hot water myself. I've used a knife, toothpick, and a brush to manipulate decals. Currently I've been using rubber tipped brushes to move them around. I bought them in a set at hobby lobby. The Olds looks Great!!!! Nicely Done!!!!
Thanks Michael!!
CHECK THE FIT OF YOUR WINDOWS, THEN USE VERY SMALL PIECES OF TAPE TO HOLD THEM IN PLACE THEN USE YOUR GLUE THIS WAY THEY WON'T MOVE!!!!!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!😎
Thanks Mike!!
Great looking build super clean.... build on 👍
Thanks Brother!!👍🏻👍🏻
That is an awesome looking build. Ron
Thanks Ron!!👍🏻👍🏻
I just joined the Facebook group posted 2 of my builds. A lot of reactions. I have built this kit as a pro street I'll have to get some pictures later to post them
Awesome!! Thanks
Turned out beautiful. Nice build
Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
Build it the way you want it to be
Really, really nice work Matthew. As always, simply good fun to watch. 0
Thanks Stephen!!
Looks great! This car is definitely on my want list!!!!!!
Thanks Chris!!
Turned out awesome great build
Thanks!!
Great looking build bud.
Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
Gr8 build as usual you yanks have some nice looking cars that being one 👍🇦🇺
Thanks!!
Nice build came out good.
Thanks Alan!!
Great lookin build man! My dad almost bought one of these new while he was waiting for his 69 SS396 L-78 Chevelle.
Very cool!!
Love the 1969 Hurst olds you built it exactly like the real thing I always been an Oldsmobile fan
It's a cool car!!
Beautiful paint job and awesome skills, Brutha!!!
To position decals you can use what I call a tightly wound Q tips. Medical supply stores, some gun stores, and as I just found out, Hobby Lobby carries them in the model supply section ($3.99).
They are not as fuzzy as a normal Q tip, which can leave a strand of two of cotton behind stuck in the decal..
I have a couple of these kits in my stash, one is pre built, waiting for primer, the other is NIB. One will be built box art the other I plan on having a little fun with.
Bud Lindemann, old Road Test videos, had a silver one I'd like to do.
Thanks!!
Beautiful job sir,can wait to do mine, your an inspiration
Thanks!!
Ohhh she turned out really well nice touch with with the o ring.two thumbs up
Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
Came out great!
Thanks!!
Awesome build! Looks great! Can’t wait to get started on mine.
Thanks Jim!!👍🏻👍🏻
I love listening to you build. Great work on the “gentlemen’s” sports car. It looks fantastic. Thank you for sharing your work
Thanks Anthony!!👍🏻👍🏻
Great job, an older kit, built very nicely.
The darker gold on the body looks great. it extenuates the body lines. Foose uses it for a contrast effect.
I just finished the foiling of an AMT 62 T-Bird. The chrome trim is very similar to your Olds, only more of it. I used the burnish down a larger area & trim away the excess. It seemed to work out better than the cut the strip method. I agree it is a bit less flexible & not quite as sticky as the older foil, but under floor polish, it looks great.
It really did turn out great. I was glad to see you showing how you place the decals and glass. I also always wondered about the Mod Podge and the silver tape. I definitely prefer the gold wheels, and the lower stripe turned out great. It looks so much better being there than doing without it. Also, that o-ring on the air cleaner really adds detail to it.
Thanks Scott!!👍🏻👍🏻
Great job
Thanks Jim!!
How do you not have more subs ! Build on man enjoy the content
Thanks!!
I knew you would like the o-ring trick, you can also put it on a socket and take a sanding stick to flatten the outside and thin it out if you wanted to see how that looked too. ♥️ it ...Car looks beautiful! 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Gary!!
Looking real good. The paint looks super smooth. I love AMT kits as well, hard to explain it!
With your decals, Put 2 or 3 drops of dawn dish soap It makes them slide better.
Great job! Decals scare me to death. :-)
Same here!!
Olds looks awesome, great job. Rick ✌️
Thanks Rick!!👍🏻👍🏻
That is absolutely a beautiful car. You done a amazing job on this kit. I am really impressed and thanks for the tips. Thanks for the video brother.
Thanks Chris!!👍🏻👍🏻
Great kit to build!! I’ve always been a 442 fan after owning a 70 442...
Hey, bub, nice job with the build. For future reference, the older (previous) AMT/ERTL release of the '69 Hurst Olds model kit seems to contain the gold rocker panel/lower fender stripe decals which are missing in the latest AMT release. (IMHO, that screw-up is on them, and they should correct that). I just purchased one of these older AMT/ERTL kits on Ebay, and the complete decal sheet was included. 😄👍👌✌🇺🇸
Thanks Art!!👍🏻👍🏻
You don't really need the markfit on flat surfaces. It really shines on curved or textured surfaces. It takes a few hours for it to work and make sure you put another coat on after you get the decals where you want them. With the windows, I'll put tape on them to hold them in place while the glue dries. I hate it when they shift and I don't catch it.
Looking good.
Nice job. The kit looks pretty straightforward.
Thanks!!
simply stunning... looks awesome!!!
Thanks!!
I do that too lol but I’ve had holes in a decal also lol
That looks awesome, I have wanted a 69 Olds since I saw the Junkyard dog article in Hot Rod magazine!
Thanks Mark!!
Try using just water to apply then it won't set on you. Then when it's where you want it hit it with the decal set. Great job !
Build came out great Matthew. I was the one who posted the bottom stripe decals on Facebook that came with my kit. It appears to me they were originally missing from early release of the kit and added later that's why its a separate sheet.
Thanks Brandon!!
I'm gonna have to go look at mine now, I dont think mine had the lower decals either.
Great Job. It came out sweet!
Thanks Rick!!👍🏻👍🏻
I love watching you build models..I just got back into the hobby after a 30 plus yrs away from it.There is a question i would like to know the answer to.I watch a few model builders and you know a few of them..But my problem is that none of you talk about the difficulties of tiny parts that wont stick or you keep dropping them.
Only positive thoughts!! Lol. Yep that is definitely a pain!
I just picked up two of them from Ollie's yesterday for $20
That looks FANTASTIC !!!! I like the gold wheels, correct or not, they look great. Really nice job on this one. Keep up the GREAT WORK !! P.S. Get those kids building more !
It turned out really great, looks almost 1:1, nicely done! 😁 I enjoyed watching the build and seeing the final (I have one of these in my stash, and have also built the '69 442) ✌
Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
The decals on this car do take a lot of work but somehow this car looks naked without some type of stripes, especially on the sides. I solved the trunk lid dilemma by putting on the spoiler afterwards.
I was gonna say absolutely gorgeous but Thomas Barnard beat me to it,, but he is right
👍🏻👍🏻
I got one of the older Amt kits and it didn't have any of the decals for the lower part. I just ordered some off eBay.
Tape your windows in place with strips of painters tape, then glue them with mod podge.
oh yeah, buy some eyebrow brushes on amazon for the modge podge. they look like little paint brushes and are disposable.
I just finished this kit very good kit I messed up forgot to paint the hood and when I did the body paint two months ago I sprayed the body and cleared and decals all on and forgot to paint hood now screwed cuse the white paint I used can't find it anywhere cuse it was a discontinued white so mine is all done and hood less which sucks. And I didn't do the bareetal foil on this one it looks good but if it was a show car I'd done the foil. So I painted the hood white put the stripes on it and in display case I glued hood standing up in corner so you can see the detailed out motor I did plug wires and all and also put the mini box together and put that in case as well
Very cool!!
Pledge floor gloss is NLA
I built my mine several years ago and did not have the lower decal..
superbe bravo
Thanks Dominique!!👍🏻👍🏻
I like that p38 can opener you have on the bench what part of model building do you use it for lol 😅
Nice video Matthew i have never use aluminum foil , looks good 👍 have u try do ur decals under the clear ...?...
Sometimes I use floor polish over the decals. Thanks!!👍🏻👍🏻
the secret to the ultra is MICRO METAL FOIL ADHESIVE by micro scale it’s a game changer
I'll have to take your word for it. Having recently finished an AMT kit, I am loathe to ever try another. Very poor on detail and components, there are many other model kit makers out there and I am more likely to try one of those than buy AMT.
Im currently doing the same model. Its been awesome but I can't figure out the exhaust. Where the rear axle, shocks, struts go.
About the lower gold color decals, mine came with them.
don’t use the decal solution until you get your decal set and stuck then wipe the solution on with paint brush it softens the decal
Gotcha
The following is not a complaint, just coureous. Your 442 is wonderfully detailed and your patience certainly paid off resulting in a beautiful model. but why didn't you attach the mirrors? I must admit I have an obsession with mirrors on vehicles that should have them. When I opened the Mobius 56 Chrysler and discovered they didn't include a side view mirror I was really disappointed.
Sorry If you explained this in the video my hearing is shot and there was no CC for this vid.
Lol!! Thanks for noticing. I have them just didn't like how they looked. Thanks
@@modelcarvideos5829
I notice a lot of modelers opt to leave the mirrors off.
Nice build brother
Thanks!!
What gauge wire is that plz
Use tweezers to move it around
Great model! Just curious, why don’t you like Future Floor Polish?
I actually did use it on this build to give the decals some shine. Thanks!!
I think if you put it on too thick it may yellow.
I was wondering how this foil would react to lacquer clear shot over it.
I think it would be fine.
Lacquer is a hot medium & will melt enamels if sprayed over them. I have learned the hard way. This is why I asked. Thanks for the quick answer. Oh yeah I owned a "69" Olds Cutlass F-85 with no power equipment at all. Just a 350 v-8 with three on the tree tranny. The steering wheel liked to try to take your arms off when you got to close to the curb. Oh yeah lots of fun!
Lol!! Wow
Did you use decal solution on decal? Micro set might bring it down
I did. Still had issues.
@@modelcarvideos5829 wow. I remember building that kit years ago and I had same problem. But decal solution wasn't in my arsenal then. I ended up trying to match the gold and painting the hood. Didn't turn out good. Lol.
It's a beautiful model,,,can I have it????
Lol
What do you use for spark plugs?
It's 32awg wire I got off ebay. It's enough to do at least 100 cars for like 7 dollars. I'll send you the link if I can find it.
32AWG Flexible Stranded Cable UL1571 Tinned Copper PVC Insulation Wire For LED
Just copy and paste this into Ebay and it should come up.
@@modelcarvideos5829 thanks alot
HEY MATT, DO YOU REALLY GET ALOT OF SNARKY COMMENTS BY BUILDERS WHO DO NOT APPROVE OF YOUR BUILDING METHODS ?
I AM SUBBED TO HPIGUY AND EVERY SINGLE VIDEO, HE ADDRESSES HIS VIEWERS TO HOW YOU SHOULD BUILD " YOUR WAY" AND NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. I MEAN HE GOES WAYYYYYY OVERBOARD DRIVING HIS POINT ACROSS ABOUT BUILDING FOR YOURSELF AND NO ONE ELSE. OK, I CAN UNDERSTAND MENTIONING IT EVERY SO OFTEN BUT ITS NON-STOP FOR HIM TO THE POINT I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT. ITS NOT THAT HE ISNT RIGHT. I AGREE WITH HIM BUT ARE THERE THAT MANY CRITICS OUT THERE POINTING OUT THAT YOUR NOT DOING SOMETHING TO THEIR LIKING ? LOL I MEAN REALLY ? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE ANYWAY ? LOL
ANYWAY, LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND I FIND IT RELAXING BUILDING WHILE WATCHING AND LISTENING TO YOUR VIDEO'S. YOU CRACK ME UP SOMETIMES. - HOWARD H.
That chrome foil nonsense always pisses me off. Anymore I use a molotow fine point chrome pen. Good enough, and fast enough. With the foil the look isn't worth the pain. (Even though it does look fantastic when done right 👍)
I try to paint stripes anymore rather than screw with decals. I hate em sooooo much! Bitty designs liquid mask and a nice sharp exacto, and just use the decals as a reference. Some of the tiny decals are no problem, but the big, long stripes.....oof.
Currently cursing at 76 4x4 stepside Chevy sport graphics.
