shooting is generally meh. but shooting meta works with isengard because at the end of the day they are still F4 S4 D5, you want your xbows in front of everything and there's pikes behind for the extra dice. so you dont really sacrifice much combat power to take heavy ranged. unless you heavily invest in movement uruks tend to be slower than many armies so the ability to sit there and force enemies towards your pike block is pretty sweet. plus its an excuse to run vrasku, which is always fun
Why are uruks slow ? They move the same 6" as nearly everybody else. They even can be fast with a drum.
Also shooting does not have to do a lot of damage. If you get 3-4 kills your bows have got there points back.
@@grimgrauman7650they're slow because you dont really have any good cav options.(compared to the foot troops) and the cav doesn't work with the army bonus. and you need to stand still to shoot. the strength of isengard lies in its infantry. so they tend to lose out in movement compared to cav heavy lists.(or anything with cheaper drum/march options, taskmasters, or aragorn) and a drum (or marches or marauders or wargs) was what i meant by "unless you invest" you can absolutely have a fast uruk army, but it costs you in resources/army options. and what shooting is worth depends heavily on the army and what you give up for it i reckon. in a lot of lists (mostly those with s2 bows or bad shoot values) its not really worth it so beyond some 'honesty bows' they dont bother. my point was you dont really need to lose anything to run isengard xbows and its an advantage for the list. max bows in something like gondor or mordor doesn't have the same impact and so isn't really seen much.
