I remember 27 yrs ago I went to Palm Sunday in a DC UCC church. The choir did this and the soprano soloist was about 75 and she had a vibrato you could drive a truck through. It was so right. She preached the heck out of that song!
I did this song during my senior recital, never sounded this good! I got a chance to meet her during my time in college. She was a beautiful person as well as a beautiful talent! I was really sad when she passed away.
I certainly would have LOVED to see Jessye Norman in person myself! Thankfully, I can see her on You Tube! What a fantastic voice, and I love her rendition of this hymn, RIDE ON KING JESUS! Glory to God Almighty!!!❤
@@elizabethyorker2800 I can’t be sure, as it was 35 years ago. The Hall Johnson arrangement is closest, however, so it could have been another Hall Johnson arrangement. The only difference is that the one I did had the ending as “no man, no man, no man, can a-hinder me”. Instead of “ride on, ride on, ride on, ride on,Jesus” as in Jessye Norman’s rendition.

@@jayonnaj18 My favorite this to watch is this series with Kathleen Battle, as well as hearing her do Dido’ Lament by Purcell.
