Not only a sublime voice , but an intelligent and technically flawless interpretation. No one comes close. Norman was a vocal phenomenon hard to replace. Her mature musicianship always adds more colour to her interpretation.
Your work here on earth is completed; God has spoken to you, "Well Done" thy good and faithful servant, come higher. Rest in Paradise Ms. Jessye Norman.
I was privileged to sing D. Of F. in the Westminster Symphonic Choir back in the mid 70's with a younger Jessye Norman.& James Levine conducting. The aria brought ovations and I have followed her career for my entire life. Rest in peace dear Jessye. 🌹
OHHHHHHHH, MY DEAR , YES , YES , VERY YES.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- FASCINATING DIVINE MUSIC and VERY STUNNING , DIVINE GREAT -- JESSYE NORMAN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This must be how Berlioz heard this aria in his mind when writing it. No other singer captures the grandeur and the depth of meaning that Norman brings here.
Exquisite. She was just exquisite. No other word can describe her more beautifully. Rest in Peace in the arms of your Lord. You will be forever admired and cherished.
I was privileged to perform this work with the Westminster symphonic choir back in the 70's with Boulez & the then- newly up & coming in the US Jessye Norman. She sounded just like this,,,her voice her presence made me forget where I was in the music, overwhelmed Alice Tully Hall
This performance by Jesse Norman shows her magnificent talent as a singer with complete control of vocal line and interpretation. Brava Jesse Norman, now departed.
Oh my word what sheer indulgence to be able to listen to an angel. It is glorious. Oh dear Jessye RIP. Let your beautiful voice fly over the heavens for eternity. ❤❤❤❤❤
I still can't believe that she is gone. It just boggles the mind. I have been able to hear and meet some of the great singers/conductors, but the one time she was in my city performing I was on the other side of the planet...literally. She is no longer here, but that voice will live on forever!

I will always love her, she is the reason I really get into opera. I am so proud of this beautiful lady. I don't sing I do a lot of voicing on the harp from my big sister Mrs. Norman.

Interesting point. We can (safely?) assume that Callas did not have nearly as many recordings as Norman, because of the expense of recordings at the early stage of records.
