Thats a dust trap on the top....
I love Roon! So easy to navigate. Much better than Tidal or BluOs interfaces. The information about the artist and album is great! I bought the lifetime subscription after the first year I used it. Easy to use for my wife too! Hit play and the stereo system turns on and starts playing!
I've went lifetime as well after 1,5 annual subscriptions. One of the best investments I've ever made.
I just use an Eversolo DMP-A6 with Roon installed on PC and played back using a TABA 8in tab that I control via C4. Works and Sounds perfect. The A6 replaced my BS Node-2i.
Thanks for the Roon info. I’m currently using Roon with a M1 Mac Mini and very happy with that. Also using WiiM Pro and Pro Plus as endpoints and very happy with those. You should do a video on other endpoints. How big an SSD and what type can the Roon One take? NVME or eSATA? Want to learn more. Take care.
Thank you for the setup and review. I am still running the trial but will be purchasing at its end. I have been unable to purchase Roon Nucleus One as yet as it is not yet available in the UK.
At this price I'm now seriously considering Roon.
I picked up a nucleus 3 years ago and have not looked back. Last year I bought a lifetime subscription
You all that ponied up the Lifetime sub made the right decision after the HARMAN acquisition. That's a bingo
alright how it was your experience
Fantastic, honestly it’s totally changed the listening experience. The rabbit hole of research you can do is beyond compare. Total blast
@@CapnJack100 ohh then i am fully enthused to it
@@CapnJack100 tell me capn. I currently run Roon through my computer tower. I’m considering a Roon Nucleus One. Tell me in your experience why I should take the leap! I’m curious
Hi shane,
Can I go for 1723 S Monitors for all my bed layers or go for B&W CT 7.3 for LCRS and remaining side Surround &Rear surrounds with 1723 S monitors.Which set up is more bass& Punch for movies..Please suggest me to go for it.
Just in time Shane! Was considering this. I am using a Naim uniti system at home with my music connected to two NAS drives. Will Roon Nucleus connect with my NAS? As I don't think I'll be connecting a dedicated SSD to the Nucleus itself.
Yes you can.
Love Roon. I don’t think I could properly function without it at home. I have it on an Intel NUC11 with 16gb ram. I don’t understand the nucleus one and Nucleus titan pricing. One is $499 and $3600 for the other.
I need this. This would be perfect for me and my stereo system setup. I wonder if Roon will be at MWave so I can play around with this
Question - If I'm using the Tidal app and selecting a speaker / sound system in my house, am I getting worse quality than if I accessed Tidal through Roon? Or the Blusound App?
I've been a Roon user since May 2021 and lifetime user since December 2022. I'm currently using a 2014 Mac Mini running Linux as my Roon Server. It works great, but there will come a moment when it will need replacement. Then the Nucleus One becomes a very solid choice. As it does everything I would ask of it.
I am only using 2 endpoints at home and using Roon ARC on my iPhone while at work. My library size is just over half what the Nucleus One is rated for, so there won't be issues there either. And when it comes to DPS I am only using volume leveling. So all music played comes out at the same volume level. My Mac Mini can easiy handle that.
For me Roon is the perfect blend of my own music collection, Qobuz and Tidal. And Roon just works.
Hi @SandsOfArrakis, does your Mac Mini have SSD? I have the 2014 sitting on a shelf doing nothing and have been toying with changing to SSD and turning into a Roon server...
@@chrisdeakin1957 my Mac Mini came with a 1 tb hard drive. I am using that to store my music collection. I have bought a 250 gb Samsung EVO SSD and put it in an USB enclosure. I have connected it to one of the USB ports on the back of the Mac Mini. And I have installed Linux on it. The system works pretty quick this way. Much faster than running the system from its internal hard drive.
@@SandsOfArrakis that's great information me, thank you. The mac mini is super slow right now, so I will look into what you have done to see how I can get this all setup - I have never used Linux before. Thanks.
My device is not roon ready only roon tested and I am only able to use Airplay when i stream , if i get one these roon devices can use my streamer combo and use as a roon ready device ?
Always thought the original Nucleus and Titan were overpriced for what they are. I wish there wasn’t the 10K album limit for future-proofing but price wise this hits a more understandable price point sweet spot. Could see picking this up as a lifetime Roon customer after a few more reviews.
Same here. My library has been sitting at around 58k tracks and 6k albums for a long time now. I don’t add music to it that often. So for me the Nucleus One will be the perfect replacement for my 2014 Mac Mini.
As long as the Mini doesn’t fail that is. So far it’s been running rock solid. And it handles both my 2 streamers and Roon ARC with ease.
I am a happy life timer.
Shane, I am running Roon off of my Mac to my Bluesound speakers. I am interested in the Nucleus, but am I going to have to add something to send the signal to my speakers? Thanks
You're just swapping out the Mac.
Wow Shane I thought 🤔 it was going to cost a lot more than that. Pretty awesome. Can you download songs to a thumb drive ❓
That's what Roon ARC is for. You can take your library on the road on your mobile.
not even an SPDIF or AES output?! This is a NUC in a pretty case.
It's a Gigabyte Brix GB-BMCE-5105 in a case with faux cooling fins.
I am getting one :)
👍🏽👍🏽
Hello Shane Is it possible to stream directly from the nucleus one ( with Roon/TIDAL ) to my Bluesound speakers ? Thanks greating from holland 🤗 multiroom
Yes
Thanks shane and can I play 6 speakers at the same time true AirPlay or bluos if I group the speakers together ?
Shane couple of questions
Is this product available internationally?
Does this product work independently of a roon sub? So you get to use all the features you don't have to subscribe?
It runs the Roon Server only. So you'll need a Roon subscription for it to work.
Did you watch the video?
Deja vu!
Thanks Shane.
😂
Thanks for information
Hi I'm a roon user ,I have a Innuos Zen mini ,would I benefit moving to a roon one
Good question. If your current Innuos works as it should I see no reason to upgrade. I'm running Roon Server on my 2014 Mac Mini using Linux. It runs fine here. So for me personally as long as the Mac works I won't be replacing it. But nothing lasts forever. So when the day finally arrives that it will need replacing, then the Nucleus One becomes a very good option for me.
I have a nucleus, the general use and play is great. But I am constantly having to close the app and reopen it as when the screen goes off and you open it again all control stops working. very annoying.
I’ve been experiencing this lately as well although I don’t use the nucleus
I’ve never had that problem. I’ve been a Roon user for more than 4 years. I am a Mac user, but I also use it on my PC.
Having the same issue since being repaired. Before repair never an issue.😳
@@petexiando you have a nucleus?
I have the exact same issue. Extremely annoying! I’ve been using Roon for five years with an over spec’d NUC i7. So I don’t think it has to do with your nucleus. For me it all started around when they did the update 2.0.25 where they went from Roon core to Roon server. Not sure if it’s coincidence or if that was the problem but this is when it started for me. The update looked like it was mainly for those running core on windows or Mac (they separated core and client running separately) but as they describe in their change log, it also applied on the ROCK servers. When I changed my phone to a new iPhone 14 I was hoping that maybe the problem was the phone and it would go away but no luck exactly the same problem.
Anyhow, not going into troubleshooting but have the same problem as you and I don’t have a nucleus so you can take comfort and knowing that I don’t think your nucleus is the problem. 😊
Roon Nucleus' reliability is horrible. My Nucleus Plus bricked after a Roon software update 2 weeks past the 2 year warranty period. It became unresponsive & unable to connect to the network. My unit is in an A/V rack with good ventilation & clean power supply. Roon reduced the motherboard replacement cost from $800 to $500 given it's only 2 weeks past the warranty, but my dealer charged me $200 for tech supports. The new motherboard had the same problem after a Roon update. It only lasted 20 months, and Roon charged $800 to replace the motherboard. I raised the issue to their top management. They just gave me lip service, and told me it's within their "industry standard". I have 15+ year old PC and AV gears that are still working perfectly. Roon hardware's quality control and reliability areutterly unacceptable,. They're either built with inferior or defective parts, or there's a fundamental flaw in the design. I guess the only advantage of the Nucleus One is that it's much cheaper than fixing the Nucleus when it bricked. I'd just e-waste it if it' failed.
This sort of comment will make a lot a customer away from their product. As we say in French make one customer unhappy and he will make you very bad reputation. Thank you for reporting your experience… it says a lot about their after sale service
It is a computer .. computers fail .. new computer old computers ..
It's just an Intel NUC. You can do it yourself or ask a computer engineer to do it. You don't need to spend so much of your own money.
Open it!!! what board and NUC is it running
It's a Gigabyte Brix GB-BMCE-5105.
It's a Gigabyte Brix GB-BMCE-5105 quad-core Celeron 5105 processor.
So what's the hardware spec of the One? CPU, memory?
8GB and some 4-core celeron
Celeron 5105, 4GB RAM.
Hey, Shane can you do more 4k movies reviews. Kind of miss your reviews
czcams.com/video/BD07NIIw-oY/video.html
Sometimes it seems people don't get it when they can't hear what others can hear. It's unwise, I suggest, to dismiss others who can hear the difference as it might just be something about the person who's being dismissive in that they can't hear the diffirence. A bit like power cables and high end audio equipment. I have invested in Furutech and as a result the sound is so much more authentic and a much less expensive upgrade the replacing either the amps, source or speakers. But maybe I'm plain fortunate to be able to hear it: or deluding myself: of course there is that possibility-but I'm very certain I'm not! And it may be subtle but it's the 80/20 rule in action. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for but: as always: there are charlatans everywhere. One does have to be mindfully aware of them: especially on unregulated places like CZcams, Facebook, et al. I will welcome the day when the internet is policed like the streets and bad actors are held to account. Anyway: presently listening to Peter Frampton on "Acoustic Classics" album: highly recommended. Stay well!
What model is the CPU?
intel celeron ,maybe N4500
budget Celeron
n series would make more sense, n200 -305?
Celeron 5105.
@@phil6012 where did you get that info from?
Why is ROCK OS not Nucleus One OS?
Would be cool if roon offered a cloud service where you could upload your music collection instead of having to locally run a Roon server.
The do offer a limited capacity Dropbox account
Yea, no thank you! What niche does this fill? Storage via ssd, or external drive/NAS, and roon server. This isn't a dac or amp, it's a mini pc dedicated to roon server. Nothing outside of running roon server on a mini-pc.
Is it as loud as the ROCK NUC? That fan kicks in hard and often.
No idea. My 2014 Mac Mini is completely silent running the normal Roon Server. Its fan works, but it has never used it ever since I am using the Mini as Roon Server.
It’s fanless.
It’s is not so bad with a Mac as you say. You have just to learn how to do or not to do
I've had roon for the past few years on my Mac. It sucks.
@@therealshanelee
Okey
But why does it sucks?
Mac and specially Mac mini M1/2 is one of the best solutions for streaming music. You can make it very clean from apps and use it standalone running screens5 from an IPad
Roon runs fantastic on my Macs
Run amphetamin app to keep it alive and turn of update iOS
How so “it sucks”?
@@therealshanelee same experience here, I use Mac and got rid of Roon because it sucks, it's sluggish and breaks all the time. Replaced it with Plexamp. It lacks many Roon features but It's bitperfect, rock solid and FAST.
@@brainguynyc8729 slow and buggy, it breaks all the time.
Ridiculous costs - choose free Lyrion instead. LMS does 99‰ of Roon, and in some instances does more.
Plex amp
Never heard of her
This is super complicated. If you want to "simplify your music" go back to physical media.
And deal with racks and racks of CDs, without the ability to change albums without first having to stand up and swap a disc?
Sounds way more complicated to me tbh lol.
@@87togabitodepends on your age 😂. If it takes you 10min to open and swipe the app, better switch cd !
Well it isn’t and I don’t have space for my 50,000 song collection as CD’s or the budget.
It's not complicated at all. It also allows you to stream anywhere with roon arc. Use it in your car.
@@invisiblekid99 "my song collection" 😂😂😂
seems like a waste of resource/money
just run a rune server on your nas
Which nas you recommend that can run roon as server or core
I don’t have a nas so…..
Just looks like a money grab
How so?
No, the Titan is a money grab. This is NUC PC that is only slightly more expensive, but looks better and the installation is all done for you…..for those that want that.
Can I simply upscale a track that I mixed a while back and not happy with the quality? I want to use it to upscale my Audio files not to stream.
I only use roon on my MacBook Air Qobuz I don’t have any music on hard drive is it possible to get this us it without a hard drive?
They don't come with hard drives.
@@therealshanelee yeah so it runs without a hard drive then?
