@@alexgrissom3513 You can use Konami's card database to filter for cards like this pretty easily! In this case, you search for the word "Dragon" and then you can ask for only light attribute, fusion type monsters. You still have to ignore all the actual Dragons but there's only a couple pages of monsters that fit the bill.
@@Psynapseful Yeah, you can choose to ignore monster deck types like xyz or synchro but not actual monster types with the card search, which is a bummer.

@@TheKABE09 I'm talking about counters that DON'T have names such as Spell Counters, A-Counters, Fog Counters, etc. There are several cards that just use "counters" like B.E.S., Balloon Lizard, Kickfire, etc.

@@turtlesfan44 nah. You get it wrong. The only rarest stat in the game is Castle of Dark Illusion. It has 1930 defense. And all evilswarms monsters has 50 in their stat

You can also combine Zombyra with Skill Drain. Now you always have a 2100 beater that can also attack directly.

i think skill drain a is better with bigger beat sticks like malefic cards
@@vitortakara7090 Thing is, Skill Drain is Limited so the odds of getting it into your hand aren't great to begin with so you can't rely on it being live. Zombyra at the least isn't severely hurt by Skill Drain not being live while other down-side monsters are. There's also Beast King Barbaros which can give you a 3k beater without Tributes if Skill Drain is live but if it isn't, it'll still have 1900 ATK.

Juri 100 that strategy would've been so strong back then, you could also use it with boar soldier, numia the wicked and flash assassalunt.
While I do get that the extra deck monsters fit the definition of the video, I think the reason that the 2k attack limit mattered was that the monsters only costed a normal summon, and that doesn’t apply to extra deck monsters that need various materials.
Same, a level 4 effect monster and a level 4 synchro are just fundamentally different.
Yeah seriously. I was hoping to see just main deck non-ritual level 4 2000+ cards that were good even with its downsides. Level 4 rituals and synchros are like well yeah of course those are good on their own. Just like how armory arm was good and that didn't make the list. Heck if XYZ stayed as levels instead of becoming ranks this whole list would have just been extra deck cards and maybe 1 ritual in Unicore.

Also, Zombyra the Dark had the added use in that it's a fusion material for Last Warrior from Another Planet. No idea if that was meta relevant at any point.
I think Last Warrior was only ever brought out with metamorphosis.

@@stephenmalvar1169 I think he meant to say that Last Warrior was summoned using metamorphosis in the competitive enviroment, Last Warrior can be summoned with polymerization like any standard fusion monster, but it was better to use metamorphosis instead.
Now that they've been out for a year, it would be cool to see a "top ten XYZ monsters in duel links that didn't see much play in the TCG" or something like that
Oh hey! It's like... the opposite idea that I keep posting! That being the Top 10 WORST Level 4 monsters with 2000+ attack! Hopefully this list existing now means that the worst list can be made soon. Would love to see if cards like Muscle Medic, Chainsaw Insect, Giant Kozaky and Rare Metal Dragon get on there.
I remember Armor Exe from the old days being so terrible that it was impressive. No clue if modern spell counter support made him more playable but I seriously doubt it.
Chainsaw Insect isn't that bad if you're trying to mill your opponent.

2. Magical Meltdown
Well one tip for Zombyra the Dark is to use the Reverse Trap (Trap Card) so it raises instead of lowers the ATK by 200.
I love this specific lists, i would like a top 10 best 1800 atk monsters. Monsters with 1800 atk are amazing for some reason

You could have a vanilla level 4 with 3000 attack nowadays and it might not still be used even then.
I wonder if a level 8 5000 attack vanilla would be used. It might be done with the right amount of spam but it's crazy how bad the power creep has gotten with monster effect scaling vs base stats that's it's even a debate.
@@InfiniteTranscendence We kind of have an example of a vanilla monster that's easy to summon with high attack: Gren Maju da Eiza. Technically, it's not a vanilla monster, but its effect is just to give it the attack that makes it viable. You literally have to have 10k+ attack to be worth using.

@@TransparentlyDuplicitous Not a vanilla but it is a good beatstick. It just proves my point that the game is built around effect monsters. Vanilla monsters haven't changed much at all and Blue eyes is still the strongest. Konami made a mistake there. The power creep of effect monsters have skyrocketed to where they dominate the game.
That's why I meant a 4k monster with no headaches to summon and not needing to banish half of your deck.
That's a card that would be much more useful in more decks. Green Maju needs a deck built around it specifically for it to work.
Not that it's a bad card in the right deck mind you. It's quite good actually if your deck calls for banishment.
@@spyro2002 I would too. Maybe they could make an "ascended Blue Eyes White Dragon" card that would be stronger and be vanilla. Give it 6k attack and make it a level 10 or something.
That way Blue-Eyes would still be the strongest vanilla in a way.
It wouldn't hurt as two tributes is a lot and vanillas are garnets.
Photon Thrasher is an excellent card in conjunction with the other LVL 4 Photon warriors to EASILY XYZ LVL 4 XYZ monsters, especialy Starliege Lord Galaxion which can either summon a Photon Eyes Galaxy Dragon from the hand or deck.

Good old Zombyra, always had one in my deck when I played Yu Gi Oh almost 15 years ago.
i think unicore also saw experimentation in melffy builds since you can bounce specific melffy's on your opponents turn to get specific number of cards into your hand depending on which one you bounced. idk how good this was though so maybe it just wasnt strong enough to get mentioned but thought it might be worth mentioning

I found the inclusion of extra deck monsters strange, because they don't need to have negative effects to justify their attack powers because you can't just normal summon them.

Joey in Stairway loves Zombyra the Dark and Goblin Attack Force. Makes him a huge menace to deal with early since he can keep beating over your Giant Soldiers and such to keep you from getting Summoned Skull or Jinzo on the board.

Scrap Shark + Scrap Factory is one of the main reasons why I occasionally play Scraps in Duel Links. It's just so easy to get into level 9 Synchros thanks to it.

Ohhh I know, maybe you can make a list about Top 10 Level 1-3 monsters! And maybe for each Extra Deck card type one, or all together I guess. But lists like those are really cool not only for curiosity‘s sake, but also to show people what archetypes they can go into these days that are viable! You know. Especially after 5D‘s since, I assume most or at least half of your audience is around my age, and mainly saw the first 3 shows, but nothing after that… so they couldn‘t tell you which archetypes exist after the end of 5D‘s you know? But they want to get back into the game, still! Nice video thx!

That actually makes its effect make sense as it's attack is getting weaker because its dying.
I had wondered why the monster was a Warrior, which are typically nobler monsters, versus, say, a Fiend, given the Dark typing and the "the Dark" in his name.

something interesting about Zombyra (Zombire in the Shonen Jump Comic), its a reference to a pre duel monsters chapter in which a Nerdy Comic fan cosplays as a Spawn esque Superhero named Zombire (an undead that fights crime despite his constantly rotting and deteriorating body, hence the card's decaying Atk Points), and Yugi helps him take on some thugs.

Zombyra the dark is one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh cards because it's fusion material of one of my favorite fusion monsters

Zombyra is also one of the materials of Last Warrior From Another Planet, one of two pre-Cyber Dragon fusion monsters with two useful materials (alongside Twin Headed Thunder Dragon). That Last Warrior From Another Planet, which to this day is considered to have a good effect, STILL wasn’t brought out properly in serious play shows how bad bringing out fusions properly was pre-CRV.
My favorite 2000+ attack level 4 monster is Opera the melodious diva. My melodious deck love special summoning so it can attack when brought out if summoned "correctly"

I'm sure anyone who has read the manga knows this but Zombyra The Dark is the in universe equivalent to Spawn in Yu-Gi-Oh!
It had an entire chapter dedicated to it and how one of Yugi's classmates would go around dressed like Zombyra trying to be a vigilante.
Sadly, much like everything pre-Duelist Kingdom, it has gone forgotten, retconned and ignored. An archetype based around it would have been nice but it's way too late in the game for that.
6:40 does scrap factory and shark really combo? would it miss timing because shark is cl1 and the last thing to happen is shark’s effect activating and factory is “when, you can”?
Zombyra was the shit back in the day. It was almost always a 2 for 1 and SOMETIMES a 3 for 1. It was double or triple spot removal that you could search with Reinforcements of the Army if you wanted lol.

I was playing Lightsworn the other day against my spouse and I managed to draw all three Wulf in my opening hand. Still somehow won that game, but boy was it a slog. Also my boy Unicore!! Love that card as a Nekroz player.

Top ten decks The vagabond on duel links as its hardest player most of the time that's not actual person and I've had games where I've lost on his second turn.
With photon trasher the fact that its light is actually also not uniportant since if you play it in dark warrior decks you can use it for chaos monsters as well if you want to run it. I also seen thunder dragon players experiment with it for this reason as well when thunder dragons first came out.
I really do want to run an Entity deck some day..

Zombra the dark was insane in duel links with the silent swordsman meta.
Shaddoll fusion can send wulf from the deck to graveyards to summon el shaddoll construct and summon both. I think it's pretty good

Here's an idea, though might be worded weirdly:
Top 10 decks that defied Power Creep.
Basically, decks that remained competitive as a deck or engine at at least a rogue level for a very long time, but might not have seen high level play later on, and perhaps were once or still are hit in some form or fashion. (IE Infernities, Lightsworn, Blue-Eyes, Dragon Link, Gouki, etc.)
Until he mentioned extra deck monsters, I thought "Chainsaw Insect is good for milling your opponent, I guess."
It doesn't do it anywhere near quick enough and giving your opponent more cards is never really good.
