Geralt's solo training from the camp scene. The footwork is much easier to perform on tatami mats, than uneven or soft ground, but it's doable.
Be careful not to strain your wrists! Practice slowly until your hands are comfortable with the movements.
PS. Big thanks for @Siegfried Song for cleaning up my audio - go check out his channel as he's an awesome metal singer!

I'm a 25 years old HEMA instructor and sword performer from Poland. I've been fencing since I was 12, evolving through sport fencing, polish saber, kenjutsu, to finally settle on renaissance german longsword (go Team Meyer!).
I do blacksmithing for a living. Feel free to review my crafts at:

Now go throw some cuts! - Sport
There is something very aristocratic about this guy. I can totally imagine this dude being a chevalier serving under some lord. I wish I was half as cool as him. Damn.
In any case, I absolutely love these videos. Keep 'em coming!
You know what guys, I'll do a separate video on the snake movement. Many people seem to have a hard time getting the hang of it. Stay tuned.
atlast! thanks in advance
I practiced on it for more than two hours the past three days, and I am getting the hang of it, some extra clarity would be much needed help, awsome channel by the way, keep up the good work
Thanks! i was waiting for it
Yes was about to ask about it too. Looking forward to it!
That would be awesome! I almost broke my face one day as I was trying to do the snake with a broom handle =D
i accidently lost my own head while doing this, thanks a lot
Puns?
Great! You're a dullahan now
I can beat this guy no problem.

+Judicial78 9gag in a nutshell ;)
9gag is how I found your channel...
Ambjörn Fanto Börjesson
Get in line for stabbing me while I pirouette, then! :o
if u focus a bit, moves are simply predictable, every next sequence brings a huge hole between next move and its opening swordsman garda just like invitation to join and use that moment to enter . then if its not fast enough ur surly a dead man. but many moves of this combos u can use in fight to keep your energy rotate and stay low and focus. for me its a great lesson to connect and controll my mind through sword or.. the othet way round. :)
thanks
Will he didnt show aby fighting skills in this video. I dont say he have skills at all in this mater but this was only choreography.
Not to be rude but, your fly is open friend.
It's a combat ventilation for the day is hot and the moves are tiresome.
Witchers can't be bothered with closing and opening them all the time.
+MrOdrzut Fair enough xD
He just came from shooting "how to romance triss"
damn i didnt even notice, shows which team youre playing for tho
Thank you for doing these videos on flourishes, I understand they aren't practical, but they are helpful when trying to learn to use a sword by yourself.
Absolutly. While the moves may be pointless in sparring they are simply great for warming up and to get a feel for the sword at hand.
They are practical in several ways. In addition to warming up and getting a feel of the weapon, they can also intimidate others and lower their morale (maybe even have them give up before the fight starts proper). They can also be great exercise and good stress relievers with twirls that don't exhaust energy (whenever I twirl my sword when feeling tense, I feel slightly better). That and they are fun to do and watch.
@@cadethumann8605 It only boosts my morale if my opponent shows me a dance of impractical cuts that would break their sword. But that's not the point of the video anyway. He's only showing us how to do the Witcher flourish, not fight like a knight.
@@Oshaoxin I don't mean as an attack. Just a way to show off and potentially intimidate the enemy with your flexible form.
@@cadethumann8605 But if you're fighting someone who knows what they're doing, they wont be intimidated in the slightest.
Do you think you'll find yourself doing more sword training/basics videos in the future along with the Witcher tutorials? I would love to see more of those kinds of videos from you.
Yes, absolutely.
I'm glad to hear that! I'll certainly look forward to it.
Thank you very much for agreeing to do the video of the Rise of the White Wolf trailer! It is absolutely awesome. I can't wait to see the next parts of the training. And if you manage to do a whole video based on this, that would be extremely cool to watch! Please keep posting!
I can't wait for part 2 &3 and i hope they will be just as awesome!!!!!
The scene of Geralt in the camp, ho.. sh..!! I love these movements! Thank you very much for share this video, Alan. It´s clear that your way is te Sword Path indeed, dude, amazing :D
Keep doing videos man, I'll probably never be able to practice with a sword but I like what you're doing so much, this definitely inspires me.
Now we need the part 2!
This one is mastered
Just found your channel, although I am somewhat of a sword enthusiast I do not know much about fighting with them yet it is clear that you are incredibly skilled and practiced, you have definitely earned a new sub!
Been practicing artistic fencing for a few years now... Congratulations for all your work, and thank you for the tutorials and advices, they help a lot !
They should get you in as sword instructor for the Witcher movie
Hearing your sword clang against the ground when you are doing the snake gives me chills. It's a satisfying clang to hear.
+Austin Jones It's hitting just the grass, the ground would just stop the blade or make it vibrate really bad. :)
+The Sword's Path oh okay. regardless, I love the sound it makes lol
The secret to masterful swordsmanship is keeping your fly open for extra dynamics.
such high quality videos! Fantastic
Hey thanks for these videos, man, seriously! Super inspiring stuff and im practising a lot of stuff youve shown me for sure!
Great demonstration once again! Looking forward to more.
Stumbled upon these videos by accident and I'm loving it. Wouldn't mind some more authentic fighting tips, but the flourishes are cool to learn too. In this day and age I'd imagine they dominate anyway, since the aim isn't to kill but to impress/perform.
hey man,i just wanna let you know that your videos are awesome and badass and that your skill is exceptional.
great as always!
Your videos are always so fascinating to watch :) (speaking as someone who only plays the games but has never so much as touched / seen an actual sword.. well, except in a museum once or twice).
WRONG!.. FOOTWORK!
This Is Not A circus Pirouette
😂😂geralt talking to ciri
Enough...Now get down, with a flip.
Doing this sort of thing is obviously incredibly impractical in a real fight (that and I mean how many sword battles to people get into on a Saturday night nowadays?) but this has got to be a good, fun exercise regime to simply keep fit.
That and when the winter comes you can use these skills to cut up some snowmen.
there's always like 20 smartasses that comment this same shit in every single video cause lindybeige and skallagrim said so, its so annoying zzzz
This "obviously incredibly impractical" thing can save your ass if you are not lucky enough to meet pack of wolves. They won't bother about your stance.
If you meet a hungry pack of wolves and all you have for protection is a sword, you're dead. It doesn't matter how good a swordsman you are. The spinning stuff will only get you killed quicker.
Uhu, yep, wolf is smart enough to calculate your movements and choose the best timing for attack and he deffinetly won't be scared of unknown flashy sharp thing that spins in the space.
Its 2017 there is no point in saying swords are impractical in fights. Thats basic common sense. But yes its a good hobby
Excellent job breaking this down. Beautiful movement
Anything you put regarding my favorite game the witcher 3 gets thumbs up from me
You deserve more subscribers!
freaking awesome channel man. Subbed. KEEP UPLOADING THE SEQUENCE!
It is the best sword training i ever watched.Thank you for teaching me how to be half-witcher :)
I would really like to see more like this. Amazing work done here.
rozpięty rozporek :) co nie zmienia faktu, że odcinek jest świetny
dude you're so great! keep up the good work!
You should have far more subscribers. Also I am starting to link some of your tutorials together in my own training. Thanks alot, from Australia.
you make it easier to learn , great job !!
great vid bro..I love sword fighting...happy to have found your channel...👍👍👍
Looks like fun! And good exercise. I should learn how to do these myself.
It appears your are using a bigger sword than Geralt does in that video, thus making the sequence more difficult to perform without hitting the ground with your blade. All the more impressive that you actually managed to perform it, well done!
Thankyou for the video! I'm part of the SCA (society for creative anachronism) and train in swordplay every day. Didn't know that move was called a snake, I just called it a tail whip haha Good to put an official name to that. You are totally right footwork is key. Infact if anyone is having trouble with foot work, look to tai chi for practice, it really helps.
PS I teach sword play for film every Sunday, might refer your videos to my pupils, you seem well composed and knowledgeable.
Fascinating to see this in real life - much thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the work !
Amazing. I must try it!
Pffth... That doesn't look so hard, give me a real sword
"One moment later"
Well..... i did not need those limps anyways....
Now a diving roll with the sword in hand over a campfire will be tricky if you plan a part 2.
Love your videos.
+Tibori Andrei Been there, done that. ;)
I'd also consider this the easy part :-)
Really awesome man keep up the great work
as a dude from oriental culture, i really enjoy your content, pls upload more often.
I'm from Poland and I'm impressed with your skills :D
I'm using Arnis' stick for practice since I don't have a long sword and it's not practical for me. Thanks for the instructional video of the scene. You are cool and good at the same time. Keep it coming. Respect.
Excellent!
I've always wanted to become a witcher and it seems that my dream will finally come true. Love your channel, now all I have to do is to grow white hair. This will be harder but I believe that you will someday develop a nice video tutorial on how to go gray.
Very good and slow, easy to digest!
Hi man, I must say I'm really impress of ur skills ! Just amazing :D
Now I can die in peace! Keep up the good work =)
Awesome!
what a masterpiece
dude, I love the way you analyze the moves in the game and apply them to real life.
would you consider doing this for star wars? there's heaps of rich lore about their fighting styles and techniques for you to pick apart.
it would be mad!
thank you for having explained in detail the technology battle the Witcher
Love your videos, you should make one specifically about footwork!
Very cool:) do more of these videos you're done!!!
Absolutne mistrzostwo :)
Cut my arm open from this, but got it down. Totally worth it. Totally badass.
What an entertaining way to teach us the path of the sword! +1 subscriber :D
Let's take a moment and admire his uniquely beautiful voice.
i know right? he almost beats Zeltik
good afternoon. Interested in the moment when the two diagonal cut performed. How justified is to remove the sword from the plane on which it is more convenient to continue the movement of the second punch in a combination of the two motions for eight? This stylistic requirement? Is it necessary to give up the transition of the two cuts at eight, doing too much on the backswing plane bending (trajectory behind back)?
+Longsword Russia Hello! Not sure I understand your question, but I find it's best to keep the moves as straight as possible - the 2nd cut should go smoothly into the spinning strike, same as in the original video.
Guess im 4 years late to ask for part 2 (=
Tho i believe i can find how to do the rest thanks to your vids, thanks a lot man!
I don't have anyone locally to spar with, so learning these moves has given me something to do at the gym. I always get weird looks from the crossfitters when they come to kick me out of their workout room.
I was hoping u will try to do that sequence from the trailer. Can u do the rest of the cuts from this trailer?
Of course.
Awsome, performance.
that was fkn awesome! another thing, whaddaya think of all the animations of strong-fast-group sword styles of the first game? ever thought of trying to replicate them? thanks again for the detailed explanation!
Thank you very much, your videos are very helpful)
the finished review looked hella cool
You are awesome! I would like one day to spar with you somewhere, someday. I am self taught, with the Japanese katana and quarterstaff through books and videos. But I have put in my style different techniques from Chinese fencing and French fencing and some other European styles. I would love to do some sparing training with you some day, if I would ever travel outside my country, so don't hope for much :P Keep up the awesomeness !.
This guy makes sword work look easy
Thanks dude. I have so much fun swinging my wooden sword about
More please!!!
You must really be a fan of the Witcher games..as am I. Thats why I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work :) where re you from if i may ask?
Where can i learn this it looks awesome. In the next game or if they make a movie i like to see witcher training.
Nice video, hope cd projekt give you a contract or something bc your videos are really cool and well made
You're amazing! :D
U have a new sub are absolutely my friend 1 question r u the template that all films and games come to and teach them how to fight with the sword??
I already do the same thing with my sword since the time of release of that trailer )) We know both it's not difficult but you're the regular fellow that you explain these things for people ))
Coolest video on CZcams!
Nice video!
Samych sukcesów Ci życzę :)
is ur sword a training sword an actually edged either way i was hoping to know where you got it thanks for the awesome vids your doin great work
If you had watched Rurouni Kenshin : Legend Ends, you will be able to see sword techniques like Kuzuryusen being brought to life. Its really interesting if you can break down the samurai sword techniques being used in that film too. Cheers
Awesome
epic !
Hello from Russia! I learned all the movements in this trailer. Unfortunately, I did not recognize a one movement. I replaced it with a similar motion. tell me what the other scenes from the game you will consider?. I will learn in the final battle from the first part of the game. It is difficult to recognize motion on the the video. It takes a lot of time and effort. By the way, your element "snake" Russian Cossacks call "bloody eight (devil eight)"
I never get tired of these Witcher videos. Also, if I may ask where did you get the sword (I'm assuming it's a practice blade correct me if I'm wrong) that you use for these videos?
It's a sparring blunt. I make these. :)
*****
Unfortunately, the website will be down until next week. You can see some of my works at imgur.com/user/othiencosplay/submitted however
When you will make a part 2 of this video?
wow this is amazing!!!where did you learn all these stuff???and what would you propose to do to start practicing them?
P.S. make more videos like this!!!
interesting stuff!
I like your skill and this has brought up the interest in me to practice Longsword how would I start in the UK as a 16 interested in things like this
Wow, you are awesome man! Hi-5
How do you spin the sword in your hand like that, it looks so cool. Do you have a video for it ?
I really hope there will be more hema/real sword technique tutorials. Like the ones with the guards.
When the 2nd part will come? :D
even though i don't own a real longsword i love practicing these sort of moves with training equivalents, but does anyone know if moving your wrist that much could cause injuries?
