One thing they need to change if they do another movie similar to this one is give the predator a W and show the process and honor they go thru when returning from a successful hunt. That would be awesome
Frankly it's overdo. Have the predator take on a cartel. Or like the videogame where they rescued one of their own from a military research facility.
4)One little thing we know is that the Predator will eventually return and kill the tribe, since we saw that same (Raphael Adolini 1715) pistol at the end of Predator 2....so it is still a W in a way
@@jamesdrake3651 take a look at some articular pistol in the movie and then remeber this came before the time of predator and you might get and idea of why he took an L this time
@@SirStrugglesAlot also in the end credits u can see 2 more ships coming down from the sky im hyped
That would be cool. Especially if it beats some good characters and badass people too.
I've never seen a predator survive a trip to earth on film so I question how good they actually are at hunting
Elder at the end of Predator who gave Glover the pistol def had that trohpy from killing a human, either Naru or their descendants. However, a movie where the Predator wins would be interesting
@@CasepbX cause us hoomans are too powerful for dem stinky aliens
@@CasepbX Because movies are about people. And they are about people because being people, we naturally connect and emphasize with other people.
A movie monster is always a glorified plot device, and a source of literary conflict for the protagonist(s) to overcome and grow from. It's not a coincidence that the most revered horrors and thrillers are those with the tightest scripts and strongest performances by the lead actors.
Making a movie ABOUT the monster is always a popular trend with fanboys. But what they don't get is that such a movie would be flat and empty, and turn off everyone else, because with no actual meat to the story and that human connection - the big cgi monster man becomes boring after the first 10 minutes of him fucking shit up.
@@TheKain202 I understand what you are saying…. But if in predator 2, we get the exact same movie except glover loses at the end and dies, would that have been a bad thing?
I don’t think so, it would have been plausible, and we still end up with essentially the same story.
@@HomeDefender30 nope,as the point of them hunting on earth is initiation ritual, same as naru had to through to become a hunter, not all of em succed let alone live through it
I loved the bear scene, it really sold the power of the Predators punching strength.
I think predator in 2018 film... punching the metal desk when he was frustrated showed how powerful they are...left a massive dent in a solid steel desk, and they did it well so it looked pretty real lol. But I agree, I think this predator was my favorite out of all of them...he was fast af compared to the later more tech advanced predators, and his martial arts skill just seemed better and more fluid. I went back and watched all the movies before turning this one on, and now I want to try out that game they released a couple years ago.
Unrealistic and then that predator struggle to kill the tribe 😂
Yea but the cgi bear looked terrible though but cool scene.
@@ericseitzler81 you're probably right lol, didn't notice. Was just enamored by the sounds and the carnage, one of my favorite parts of the movie tbh.
@@Siegefya you can tell the bear looks super terrible when it's running and also the color of the bear doesn't match the lighting of the film kinda like old cgi from late 2000s movies but it was a fun scene.
Fun fact: I love how the predator uses his spear weapon and metal arrow gun. That was also in AVP - Primal Hunt. Good stuff, he even takes his arrows back, just like you do in the video game!
So cool
My fav part was when she went to stab him with his own spear and he retracted it into its sheathe wirelessly lol she just clubbed him with it and he broke it in half and she stabbed him anyway with the broken half lol like wut?
The predator design was horrible. The appendages in his face looked like spider legs not fangs. Just stupid.
@@EbonyPope I wasnt a huge fan of that design too. I hear they went over a ton of designs before they picked this one.
@@Starfals -regret.
I liked how the Predator wasnt decked out with crazy ass weapons. It seamed like it was a young predator learning how to hunt. The wolf fight and the bear fight was really cool.
I was rooting for the Wolf 🐺🐾
It was 200years + before they upgraded thier weapons or they didnt trust advanced tech with this dumb PRE Y…. Predator class Y. Dumbass class.
Broh I was rooting for predator the whole film I was like let’s goooo
it was definitely a young blood, it didn't have a shred of armor and from what I could tell it wasn't marked.
The Bear fight was just pure awesomeness! Lol I'd say one of the best on screen predator fights
I liked the bond between the siblings. Taabe picked on Naru, but he always had her back. He would reassure her when he sees her conflicted.
There was zero character development. When he died I had less than zero emotional reaction. This movie was genuinely terrible.
@@tylerjeb7888 I don’t think anyone watches the Predator movies for character development. I just liked the brother and sister interaction.
@@tylerjeb7888 you were watching a predator movie expecting good character development? Bro go watch a Disney princess movie

@@eliv8468 yeah they made him a dumbas every male character in this movie was stupid except Naru she's the best at everything
The predator series was never about being able to "fight" the predator. Humans can't win 1 on 1 in a fair fight. It has always been about using our smarts to outwit brute strength and tech beyond what we had. It made perfect sense she could win given what was shown that she knew and how observant of her surroundings and what was done she was.
Predators call humans: Cowardly but very cunning
@@deeznutz8320 I mean they say that but they're the ones using invisibility all the time lol

I'd love to see a Predator movie take place during WW2 or even WW1.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
WW2 Predator in Pacific Theater, Japanese vs American GIs vs a Yautja
Conquistador Predator? Oh and there's a Medieval fanmade shortclip of a Predator vs. Knights and such here on CZcams iirc.
Please no. They are going to portray women as being the main characters of WWI
medieval Britain would be cool or celtic Ireland
You guys literally took the words out of my mouth. Assassin's Creed styled Predator trilogy. A movie set in Japan. Call it 'The Oni'. Make it happen - make it happen now.
There is a fanfilm called "zvp" Zatoichi vs Predator. It's great.
Ooo I like that idea! A Predator against a group of samurais
No
That sounds awesome!
holy shit this is actually an awesome idea
Still don’t think 2010 predators gets enough of love. This movie was really surprisingly good. Hopefully that continues.
I love predators too. Very underrated in the series. 👌
It really was better than this one imo
@@Rantsnrambles808 Yeah, that was the third best after the two original movies.
I really want a follow up to that movie, that one is my second favorite in the franchise
It was hot garbage compared to predators
I think what really worked is that it was a fairly quiet movie with the dialog, I mean we follow her around and watch her do things without saying a lot. It helped set the tone.
It has a version dubbed in the language of the Comanche. This country is long overdue for even the slightest of gestures of tribute to Native American culture. The casting, the acting, the cinematography. This movie way over delivered and was a beautiful gesture to the Native American legacy of this place. 8.5/10 for me. Watched it twice already.
Tell me White Guilt man. Do you think the Comanche enjoy having woke feminist writers turn their history upside down? Since when did teenage female Comanche do any fighting?
I haven’t seen the movie, but the dub aspect I learned today means the creators show level of respect I admire. I will see it now!
I read that apparently it should have been all in Comanche - but the studio said no.
@@gwenivercall i would have liked that probably more but i get the choice. And regardless great film.
@Dave Li or subtitles. That would have been cool but I understand why they made the choice they did.

Forget the Predator Alien, the entire movie is just boring. I just remembered it as the only movie where the Predator just kicks everyone's ass and that's it.
The whole point of the PREDATOR movies is to show how mankind can overcome far superior technology. If the Predator wins then its game over for humanity.....
I’ve never understood why people refer to Predator 2 as a guilty pleasure. I’ve never felt guilty about liking it; in fact, I think it’s a bloody good time throughout. And If you’ve ever read any of the Predator Dark Horse comics, it actually is very stylistically and tonally similar.
83% asked think predator 1 is the best of all
Yeah Predator 1 Predator 2 were amazing. I liked the first AVP too but those first two films were amazing
Reminds me of what JeremyJahns said.
Everyone was visiting the city in the 80s from Jason to T-Rex
Godzilla (New York) to the King Kong remake.
Gremlins to dawn of the dead (initially just in a cemetary)
It was going down
obviously P1 is the best. It’s the first, it’s got a perfect cast, the OG Peter Micheal Hall (P2 also). As good as a sequel can be, Without the mega action star in it, Glover more than held his own.
I liked Predator 2, too. Fun and interesting.
I like that the actress played a nuanced version of “tough”, and didn’t just snarl and flex like Gina Carano or Michelle Rodriguez would’ve done to portray “toughness”. Her performance showed she was relying on her intellect and instincts, not just trying to feign brute strength.
Could have worked with less plot armor, the finale really had plot armor, should have let her take more injuries but also with more traps for the pred.
@@cybergames3436 but real tough people don’t get injured or have flaws, they’re invincible throughout the entire movie.
@@cybergames3436 I had more problems of her turning into a ninja towards the end battle, it was really out of nowhere. That and the throwing axe Scorpion style she became proficient on the spot.
Her intelligence was little and instincts armature at best. Didn’t she literally hit her head within the first 10 min.
@@predalien1413 But she payed attention throughout the film and picked up things about the Predator, his behavior, and his tech. People are just blindly hating her. If she was perfect and infallible they’d hate her for that. She really can’t win, except to make her male, then everyone would shut up.
I would love to see a Predator film that takes place in either Feudal Japan, sometime during the Viking era, or during WW2. I would most love to see WW2 just because then the Predator would truly have no limits to who it can kill since almost everyone it sees would be prey. They could even do something where instead of sending one Predator, they send like 3 that all hunt in different areas of the world during the war.
Man I would love to see a predator movie in feudal Japan during the ending of the edo period much like the last samurai.
Bro was literally thinking after watching Prey how cool Viking era would work, especially in a winter/blizzard setting for the hunt
Imagine Nazis getting ribboned into confetti by a Predator XD
Dude a WW2 Predator movie sounds SO FUCKING COOL. I would love something like that. Only tweak is that I think WW1 would actually be more interesting. Hasn’t been in as much media, and is more of a raw, less technologically advanced war.
Only if Sanada is the lead
Love how the predator started off with lvl 1 mobs, then went bigger, and bigger, and of course kept winning. And how the main character kept loosing and loosing.
Really made me feel pity and think. Girl please don’t go after the pred. He will rip you in two. But then she turned the entire game around and won in the end
That was supposed to happen from the moment they chose to put her as protagonist, the predator had no chance against a girl. No matter if she almost died against a bear, from the get go the predator was doomed and we all knew it.
@@sydgerald Tell me that you didn’t feel the same with literally every other predator film’s protagonist.
@@Tiny_Dude I did and I do, matter of fact, today I was thinking of how bad I would love to see a film where the Predator actually succeeds in its hunt.
I feel like no matter what, how advanced their tech is or how trained they're, they always loose (the closest thing to having a pred win is the description given on AVP when they describe the hunt)
@@sydgerald I agree that the Predator coming out with a win and returning to Yautja Prime with a successful hunt is extremely overdue. However, simply blowing off the climax of the film as “oh this is just woke there’s no way a female can take out a predator”, dismisses literally everything that the Predator faced off against. The Predator was gradually getting fucked up as the film progressed so much so that it had to rely on essentially a carpet bomb to survive displaying the severity of the situation it was in. The Predator repeatedly fucked around and found out ultimately culminating in an inexperienced hunter not learning from their mistakes and underestimating it’s prey. While the final bolt shot was convoluted, I could still believe that after all the damage it ate and the frustration it was in, it would’ve been fucked up enough to not properly identify it’s target even more so land it.
Let's be real, no human could 1v1 a predator and this includes Arnold. What has always been the deciding factor is the wit of the human involved and I can't wait to watch it tonight.
Unless if it's Chuck Norris.
I mean, Arnie did not win with his strenght. He had to use the environment and traps. And even then, the predator just killed itself

He honestly should have tho
Aka a Young blood
Where in the film does it show that?????
@@nathanialmynameisajoke ignore him, he's living in his own world
I didn't think the whole "you're a girl, so you can't hunt" was brought up that much. It was literally the scene before they were hunting the cat, and the scene after. It's kind of sad that's the lense we see the world now, woke bullshit whether or not it's there. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and didn't think about the woke bs until you guys brought it up.
I remember a time before the culture warriors decided to wage a war against "woke" stuff.
If a movie like Aliens came out today people would call it woke garbage.
Predator 2...woke garbage for "shoving a black character down our throats"
These guys are just the right wing version of SJWs, everything has to pass their political purity test or it is "woke"
It definitely was. All the men and BEST HUNTERS in the village die and one woman who barely knows how to hunt survives??
Instead of writing a good script, they sell out to the woke narrative because it’s an easy cop out and all the woke cringe kids can give it a round of applause
Open your eyes
Considering the time it took place in "girl cant hunt" attitude prob would make more sense than other settings.
Only place that maybe kinda felt off was when someone asked her what she saw and said "It took out your entire group" or somtin and she says " It didn't take out all of us ", like cmaan u didnt need to say it like that, a lot of ur clanmates are ded for christs sake.
anyways , Woke bs not a prob, but plot armour was pretty hard.
@@coldnoodles2951 fair enough, but that trope has been there since the Bible. Think about Frodo's plot armor, or any underdog story, really. It's just sad that we view movies through such a scrutinizing lense we forget the most important part of it, which is entertainment.
@@Chaos_Murakumo wouldn't say it's sad, everyone has a different threshold of acceptance for these things.
I understand the mc needs a good amount of luck in underdog stories, but things like why the predator couldn't snap her neck when she got grabbed at the end with all the strength they set up at the start with the bear scene, or how a small dog could push it so that it misses her, or how she just pulls it down with the rope, these things come to notice, especially when the focus of the movie is on this powerful intimidating being which is strong at times but also not so strong at others.
Edit: not saying it's a bad movie a 7/10 for me, but noticing these things is inevitable when u wanna analyze the movie for review or any other purpose.
What as soon as I here Alex say "I was entertained the entire way through" I knew I have to check this out

- Hey, finally, here's a good movie from a beloved franchise, how many theaters are we gonna put this in?
- Execs: nah...
Really loved the set ups and Payoffs for this film. her not listening to her brothers story about a wet bow string and her bow string against the bear, The orange flower, Quicksand, the lazer tracking, the shield arm. also love the parallels of her wounding the mountain lion and the brother bringing it home, with him wounding the predator and her bringing it home. great stuff
That orange flower is crazy. It made their bodies as cold as the ground and didn't even kill the one that ate it
@@benkask96 Not really. It probably lowers the body temp by like a degree or something.
Predator's heat vision is definitely calibrated to operate and highlight targets within a narrow spectrum with harsh cut off, otherwise all it would see would be unicorn puke, since EVERYTHING the sun touches would be above ambient.
They seemed more like contrivances to me
Bro, it was a bad movie. We're used to really bad movies that a mediocre movie seems ok.
@@themightycrixus1131 while the orange flower takes a page from science fiction. It was set up, and explained to the audience before hand. It was not a deus ex machina to the story. The rest of the things in the are purposefully shot for the film. Every shot and piece of dialogue should serve the story. there is a reason for every shot. And these set ups and pay offs in the film serve the story.
The thing that bothered me about how the predator died is why would it use its bolt tracker thing when it didn’t have its mask on and couldn’t properly target? It was like the main character had a better understanding of the predator’s technology than it did
Probably like a guide missle it can be fired like a dumb rocket. 😅
It more than likely didn't think she knew or was smart enough to set that trap and didn't care where the darts went after, was just trying to kill her. If it had seen the laser it wouldn't have fired
I love this movie to death so I might be a bit biased in my analysis. My 2 cents on it is that the predator actually knows his weapons too well. By that I mean there is a range that the projectile will travel before being affect by the targeting laser. In the fight with Taabe, he still had to dodge all 3 projectiles because they fly past him, and only then start to turn. Possibly the Predator judges the range he can get away with, and also in the finale he thinks that the mask is nowhere close to affect it.
Also, why not just move your head away...
@@SneakyBadAssOG I don't get why more people don't understand this but in movies they typically show things happening slower than they really are for cinematic purposes like adding reactions or over exaggerated actions. The predator wouldn't have actually had time they just did that to make it more entertaining
A Predator set in feudal Japan sounds incredible. I’d also like to see one set in the Middle Ages or the Viking age: imagine a Northman berserker against a predator.
That’s pointless because Predators aren’t scary anymore because since we all know what they are now. Hence the impact of first film.

And maybe even a Predator film where we see them in their planets and see them train , make their Gadgets , commune with one another ?
There was a comic set during WW1 French trenches that was really solid. Feudal Japan would also be really good

The technology being “primitive” for the predator isn’t because they arn’t at the same technology as in the original predator or predators, it’s because this predator is young and inexperienced so he starts with the weakest weapons to prove themselves also hence the primitive looking helmet because they have to earn the stronger equipment. Hence why the predators in AVP on the Aztec temple fighting the Aliens were outfitted with plasma cannons and advanced gear.

i had a blast with this one. really entertaining chapter makes me want more from Predator. i liked the slow pacing at the start kinda Kubrickrish and it took its time before it got crazy. Also, there are tie ins to earlier Predator lore from the pistol and predator 2 as well as referral to some of the comic lore for the franchise.
I saw that one of the scripts that got shot down for Prey, was a Predator vs Pirates. But the studio deemed it would have cost too much. With the success of Prey, I'm hoping they change their mind. But I'm not sure how it would be in such a confined space of a ship. That would be like a 7-minute slaughter on the high seas.
I'm thinking it would be much better, if most of the action happened on a pirate island. A Captain obsessed with his treasure, thinking someone (the predator) is killing off his men to steal his plunder. But the predator saw the action of the pirates stealing it, and deemed them worthy of the hunt, when they get to the island to stash it. Then... Prey 2 happens.
Prey was the perfect title for this film. They established early on that the Predator only hunts other predators, he never saw her as a threat. Well done flick.
And she out predator the predator

I love how she mentions that being one of her strengths. Since they don’t see her as a threat & not know she’s already killing them lol that’s the coolest why to win games too, like when playing cards with new people. Make people think you don’t know what your doing well beating them.
Well, I mean the point of that line was specifically when she got caught in the bear trap. If she didn't get caught in the trapper's bear trap he definitely would've killed her at that time. He was tracking her up until the point they got to the bear.

I like how they named this movie "Prey" opposed to "Predator" (and without going into spoilers, the name is actually quite clever) and they managed to add some homages to both, the original movie and Predator 2. I didn't like the whole plot line with Naru trying to prove herself. It was done really poorly in my opinion. Throughout the movie she's constantly frustrated that no one believes in her, yet she doesn't do anything that proves she deserves recognition. When they ask her "Why do you want to hunt?" she answers "Because none of you think I can". That's actually the dumbest reason possible. What she should have answered is "Because I want to do great things and contribute to our tribe".
Of course they think you can't hunt, because you can't! You can't build a proper bow, you constantly miss your targets, you failed at sneaking up on a bear cause you made noise, you are constantly saved by others, they say you're good at tracking but it's actually just the dog doing all the work for you.
She failed to kill the lion and fell out of the tree and knocked out, so her brother had to carry her all the way back to camp and go kill the lion himself. When her brother arrives with the dead lion, everyone cheers him on for his amazing achievement, but all Naru does is mope because she's not getting any attention. How dumb.
The only reason she managed to kill the Predator at the end is because everyone else already injured it multiple times while she simply ran away and by the time she faced off with the Predator it was already significantly weaker.
Let's compare this to a little animated film called Tarzan. The chief of the gorillas, Kerchak, and others don't believe in Tarzan. When the leopard attacks, Tarzan fights it and protects Kerchak, he demonstrates his skills, and he kills the leopard himself, proving that he is capable and that he is one of them. Then there is the triumphant scene where Tarzan lifts the leopard in the air and displays it to his people with a war cry. This whole sequence shows that Tarzan is strong, capable, and is one with the gorillas, and the gorillas were wrong about him.
Something similar should have been done in Prey. By the end of the film everyone else is dead and Naru just shows up with the head of a monster no one has ever seen before. Wouldn't they have some questions? Nope, just make her war chief I guess.
-S7Robin
@@Kay0Bot Of course it's not about being able to fight the Predator. But when you introduce a plot line where the main character is trying to prove herself and is frustrated because no on believes in her, you need to first show that she is capable. Otherwise her being frustrated that no one believes in her comes off as her being a self centered spoiled brat. Of course no believes in you. You haven't done anything that warrants praise.
At the end of the film she shows up to the camp with the Predator's head and takes credit for all the work everyone else did fighting the Predator.
In the original Predator, they don't injure the Predator multiple times throughout the film, causing it to be weaker by the time Dutch faces off against it. They injure it once and it heals itself, but after that they never get another hit on it. So when the Predator accepts Dutch's challenge, it is in peak condition, and Dutch defeats it all on his own.
One thing I don’t see mentioned with predator movies is that these predators are all unique beings coming to earth to prove themselves/train. So like a soldier, some will be more confident some more dependent on tech . Each predator could have different motives and experience level at the time of interaction with a human
