Alex summarized the thought process of the creators best: 10:56
"This is Resident Evil."
"It doesn't feel like it."
"No, it is! We bought the licenses and everything!"
There was a certain scene in the beginning of episode 1 where Wesker answers the phone and he's walking up the stairs because he mentioned he had to take the phone call. He says Wesker when he answers and I'm assuming he was talking to Wesker so I was thinking okay great this guy is just a third party character who's going to end up doing something crazy because his character is played by a famous actor but as it turns out no actually LOL that is Wesker. that's what I realized the show was taking a different route until I learned that it is a continuation of the games and that's when I'm hoping that they are all clones and we see some semblance of any other characters from the games to maybe hopefully bring this show full circle.
This is what happens when people who makes this movie are manatees in disguise.
He summarized his privilege and dork status.
You start the video and you see Alex in the middle, and by looking at him, you knowright away it's BADDDDDDD. Then Joe says, we will watch another 5 episodes and you see the look of horror on Alex face. Hillarious.
lol. that's usually the case. and alex is usually correct...
Alex was really questioning if his job is worth it lol.
LMAO. I secretly think Joe watches this shit just to torture Alex!
I wouldnt watch it if i wasnt paid look on alexs face
Alex examines nails…Frown deepens…picks nails…
Anyone else notice if one zombie is fighting with Jade the others stand back and watch? It’s like they are determined to make it a fair fight. Also lots of hesitation from the zombie actors as they get close to the actors they are chasing
Yeah but in zombie culture everyone gets a fair one. Zombies like throwing hands it's how they choose their leader. You know like communism
Sorry it's always like that in movies, it's just very plain and visible in this one.
Agreed I kind of felt all felt like they could’ve use some more Anna training like proper follow through proper direction and what they should actually be doing well I don’t know add more people made the zombies seem more disoriented Could’ve worked as well like in the game you make them sick and slightly more disoriented or farther than they actually are or oddly slower until we get to a certain diameter like they do in the game could’ve worked
@@Avatariuz OF COURSE some characters have plot armor. The problem here is that in a single cut you can see zombies chase characters full speed and make the decision to slam the brakes so they don't catch them.
For me that was a first. You can find better directors all over CZcams. It's unbelievable how many untalented f*cks make it to mainstream entertainment nowadays.
The Plot Armor around Jade is ridiculous, specially when the Lickers attack, they just inmmediately killed each and everyone of the extras in seconds…but when it’s time to kill Jade the licker just decides to act “cool” in front of her
It’s so frustrating that everyone that has tried for a RE live action movie or a show has failed miserably. I mean the stories are already written and they have mountains of Lore, characters, enemies, monsters and potential set pieces to pull from. Again it’s so frustrating.
The first few Resident Evil films were quite close to the games in story and tone, but that didn't work out to well for them from a fan perspective.
Even the animated movies started out with pretty good movies, then we got Vendetta and Infinite Darkness. They just need to stop.
@@raidengoodman8754 The rail gun in Vendetta did more damage than the enemy lol ID has really chunky cgi and not too good story
Certain things are not meant to be turned into live actions. RE franchise should remain CGI movies or CGI series.
I would like to robert rodriguez or neil bloomkap would make a resident evil horror movie
It’s actually remarkable how many studios and companies try to make a Resident Evil thing, refuse to just copy the game, end up with a poorly received flop, and then do it all over again. Real talk!!
It’s #1 on Netflix. How is it poorly received? 🤔
@@dwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww people checking out a brand new show that has Resident Evil in the title doesn't mean it's being well received.
@@JDKT002 fact and plus Netflix probably put this trash show in their number 1 spot to get people to watch it
I loved the Mila Jovovitch movies. I think I'm in the minority though.
@Kerama Fpv The 3rd one was my favorite, with the 2nd being a close second, followed by the 1st. The rest of the movies are all decent, but Alice having superpowers is what made the first 3 so good. I didn't like seeing her as a normal human.
How hard is it to make a resident evil adaption like just hire people and writers that are both fans of the series and know the source material of the games
The producers who make the film literally don't care about the quality. Almost every single live action Resident Evil is produced by mostly the same people.
Hell no, they followed the halo tv show formula and hired people who don't give a shit
it conflicts with the need to make money
They did that last year but didn’t give them a budget.
It’s crazy how this and the Witcher both have the BEST source material and should therefore at LEAST be passable but both Have been disgraced by Netflix 💀
For me, the mistake they made here is the same as the movies. The whole post-apocalyptic angle never happens in the games. Tell individual stories about survivors escaping from individual outbreaks in each movie or series. It really isnt that difficult.
literally what Resident Evil Outbreak for the ps2 was and i wish we had more of that both shows/movies and games
Agreed and they could kind of get away with this of the properly hinted in the main course of the story you know like the one from the game if you don’t like survivors that may be met them at one point or maybe to talk about tidbits about the actual game like what the actual main characters in resident evil we’re like going through if they were just like this oh this is happening right there we have to avoid this whole thing and that would’ve seemed kind of cool if it was just survivors and that sends it would still give you a sense of all this really is resident evil but it doesn’t do that It kind of sucks because of that if you know how to do it well they didn’t they wouldn’t have to do a whole copy paste of the game which I still think they should do they could do something like in the same timeframe in the same universe in a different area and properly hint at the main purpose of the story which is the characters in the game and what they’re going through like raccoon city oh we were in the edge of raccoon city and blah blah blah and we have to go through it to get to the other side block and they maybe they cut them right when they were leading the train in Resident evil two they were supposed to get on it they completely fucking missed it something went wrong they have to go a completely different way that would’ve worked they are not taking any intentive to go towards the story itself
That's what I'm saying like why do they keep doing this
to be honest the best resident evil show would probably would not be in the point of view of one of the main characters but more of a survivor. like small stories during the zombie out break or from multiple zombie out breaks we know happen in the resident evil games. black summer did this point of view thing where you feel like your rewatching a whole episode from someone else point of view to fill in plot holes which i hated but here may make sense. each of the survivor stories could connect. we can have on survivor story that does make it towards the end which gives hope to the audience.
example: one of the survivor stories could be a bus full of passengers trying to make it cross a bridge to the other side but their story ends with them running and pushing vehicles out of the way with said bus. their bus makes it towards the end but crashes due to mutated zombie. the driver decides to blow up the bus and its 125 gallon fuel tank as a last ditch fuck you to the mutated zombie that just killed everyone and is stalking outside the bus. the explosion begins another story of a group who sees the bridge is clear and the fireball, since the mutated zombie is badly wounded and on the run the second group doesnt meet it and makes it safely thru. this group demise or actions effects another story that pops up with this one is over. in the end only one group makes it or a special character does with the goal being just to survive. they can even show the bau that christ redfield works for in action using tactics to subdue the zombies with the story characters actions playing a key difference from luring zombies away from a drop off point, killing highly dangerous mutated beast so soldiers wouldnt not being overwhelm or even weaken specifics ones so chris can exploit it.
If they wanna make another zombie post apocalyptic thing, house of the dead is right there, unused
Blade is a BADASS in this show. Cross-over of a lifetime baby!
blade wants his sword back he is pissed that his sword was taken.
You said it Joe. How the hell do they keep getting this wrong?! The freaking ego around everybody in the studio.
They don't see it that way. As far as they are concerned, they sell tonnes of games, films, merch, ad space, and tertiary services to the parents of todays kids. They are milking the shit out of all the old IP's because the work has already been done! They don't need to pay artists or anybody really just two or three developers and it takes half the time.
@@DailyCorvid the people who made this show do not sell the games... They paid for a license, nothing more.
2 reasons : 1-capcom. 2-Hollywood : they did it before 3 times 2 with the RE games and 1 with monster hunter and all of them were bad they just want to make a quick buck no matter how bad the product is cause none of the main game devs are involved in decision making
@@grilledleeks6514 You are missing the point, licencees aren't getting that licence for free.
They pay money to get a licence to make one or two games, then that's all they do. Meanwhile the license owner [one who sells them on] gets all the cash I was talking about, and then will continue to recycle all the old IP's that they can in this way.
That's the reason why all the old IP's get fucking ruined by new teams - they are not bad developers, they are not social spies trying to brainwash you, they are not making political points because they care about the points!! That is the point.
Not who they sell licences to... Like Subway restaurants are a franchise with 1000s of restaurants, who ALL DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD or they lose it.
And who is taking in all that lovely money, now that that model has made them the most profitable fast food chain with the highest number of restaurants?
NOT the person with the one licence, it's the licence owner! You see? And that's what happens with all the IP's we loved.
They are reusing all the old ideas, concepts, art, music, everything - so they don't need to pay people to make new stuff, they just stick 2 devs on the project and it's very easy and quick. But it makes BANK for them.
Why would they spend time and money making a new IP that might not generate interest, when they can reuse old ones which already generate their own?
That's the industry now. It doesn't matter what the lore of the IP was, or who's getting the licences and what they are making. It is COMPETITION within the industry, where the leader goes others follow.
The leader is not the person who buys a licence in order to make quick money! It is the person who sold licences in order to make quick money.
@The Rotten💯 I can say as someone who watched this train wreak, their not trying to fit a social agenda in this. When Lance Reddick is allowed to channel Albert Wesker he becomes Albert Wesker it's a lot like Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The problem is the writers took every zombie property and smashed it together in hopes of attracting fans of zombie flix. Then in their genus decided to recreate Riverdale and Sabrina in the past sections to attract the youth. Studios maximizing the audience outside the core is the problem. Why create something good that might catch on when you can just workshop the script to have a little bit of everything.
"there's not a single adult to be seen anywhere in this entire episode... or in the writing room" 🤣 Alex
“Listen Jeffery. We need a new pitch, a new show to bring in the youth demographics”
“Well my teenage son doesn’t talk to me but I did notice him playing this video game… *checks notes* ‘Resident Evil’? Do kids like video games?”
“I’ve already got the Wikipedia page pulled up (what the hell is ‘Biohazard’…?). We can definitely make a show about this. Great work, Jeffery!”
It’s an IP. The IP owners had to agree to pimp out resident evil for this.
I think majority of the people will agree that anything Netflix or Amazon adaptation is NOT canon no matter what big corporations say.
When OJ said "Now we're dealing with bullies and high schools... is this Resident Evil? I forgot what I was watching at times..." That resonated with me so much because I had this exact feeling during one of the flashbacks. I completely forgot that I was watching Resident Evil and I thought I was watching some teen drama.
OJ Simpson watched this????
The good old Halo maneuver. Use an established IP to sell a B grade script
@AtheJbaka Please go on. Explain why being racist has anything to do with it.
No matter what a Netflix show is about, horror, sci fi, action..somehow Netflix just HAS to add teen drama or a love triangle and they make damn sure there's at least an episode set in a school or college if they can't make the whole show in that setting...like, damn...please stop!
I thought this was the new Blade movie wth...
In the famous words of MoistCritikal "What is the point of taking beloved franchises and completely bastardizing them until they're unrecognizable from the source material?".
Wokeism is the point in my opinion
Bcz black pepol da best 🤓
Maybe because they're aware that without the big IP name their show won't do well at all or they're TREMENDOUSLY that fuckin oblivious and stupid that they think this would somehow be a good show. Considering how Hollywood has been this last decade and how they treated other video game adaptations, it's very safe to say the latter option couldn't be any more true
its another statue to tear down
Important rule: Don't make franchises into live action or animation TV shows or movies if you can't respect the source material. Plain and simple
When we finally got to see the OG Wesker in his attire he’d wear in the video game I thought I was seeing Blade for a second lol
"If someone's gonna play Wesker, it's Lance Reddick." Keep that in mind when you watch Episode 7. I can't believe he was okay with that sh*t. I just can't.
BLACK WESKER!!!
Okay with what, exactly? I've already seen the show but I don't remember anything being super bad about Wesker. Except maybe the clones thing, that was weird, but it sounds like that was a game thing as well.
What sh*t? I don't care about spoilers
@@albertjohnston1026 Wesker popping up in that silly leather clothing just looked silly and nothing like the Wesker in the game. He looked more like a cheap knock-off of Blade. That whole set-up made him look like a tool.
@@Dybicus Ah, got it. I never played the games so I didn't have anything to compare it to. That whole thing was just a little weird to me. It just came off a little comical compared to the otherwise mostly serious atmosphere.
Edit: The clones, that is.
I loved how the first time the Umbrella laboratory has a guard that tries to do his job, the CEO fires him. Big brain move.
No wonder why security trash. They scared to go their jobs. They scared to land headshots because they get shot by a drone
Thats umbrella for you they dont care for employees
Wt did u expect? The ceo's whole motive is to keep the wife happy, like literally thts all she wanted by creating a potentially apocalyptic drug dosed with the t virus..aughh gahd and I thought Simmons was a bad villain,fr this show made me take back everythin I said about Anderson movies yes even the final chapter
tbh that actually happens in real life too lol
Galaxy brain!
The biggest thing that always continues to boggle my mind when people try to make these live-action adaptations but choose to either ignore the source material, try to make something for a new audience, or worse yet: create brand new characters to act as the audience insert instead of utilizing creative writing and storytelling to explain the story; all of that, the one thing I keep thinking is this: "Who did you make for for, and do YOU even know who you're making this for?"
Fanboys need to stop whining and get over themselves lmao
No not for a new audience. Maybe alittle. But i feel like they were testing introducing new characters and villains for the series as a whole.
@@mikelee9474 keep saying that as Hollywood burns every franchise to the ground with their “creative” injections.
Massive egos by no talent hacks
@@mikelee9474 Ctiticizing isn't "whining". Crying about criticism is whining.
Absolutey love Lance. Top top actor. Shame that we exist in a world where this show lives and Raised by Wolves gets cancelled.
That's the magic trick: it's not alive, it's undead.
This just came on, that other show has been on
His appearance on the Eric Andre show is one of the best moments in television lol
This is filmed exactly like Halo, Netflix must have seen how much everyone loved that show and decided to write it the same way... this is just the "silver timeline" of the RE universe
Lmao I was thinking the same thing
Alex is the peoples' champion of these reviews.
Like me 😏
You can see it in his face before he even gets a chance to speak.
correct because he tries to be more genuine... when Jow tries to act his part, as in hi wants the message, because who knows how many people in his circle will cut him if he dares speak his mind... Don't Ask Questions, Just Consume Product and Then Get Excited for Next Products
Ya I used to think he was overly negative, but he's pretty spot on. I also think I've gotten more negative with all the regurgitated trash that keeps getting put on screen
Agreed. A lot of people just think he's a negative hater, but I'd say he really just has a low tolerance for mediocre crap. I also like that he usually has some good insights into what is or isn't working in something as well as potential ways to fix it.
I love how Alex keeps dejectedly looking down at the table like he just wants to calmly say, "It sucks, don't watch it. I'm going home now. Bye." Lol
ew alex stans
Kinda sounds like something I'd do...
If he wasn't getting payed to suffer through it, I'm certain he would have.
The Alex indicator 😄
It doesn't suck
If you take that it has anything to do with Resident Evil out of your mind
It's actually a really fucking good show
They did actually write a line about the lab security. Boss lady told Security Dude to fire the security guard that was supposed to be covering the lab for not doing his job and Security Dude tried explaining the issue as it being that guy's first day on the job. Also, the only reason they were even able to get access was because Wesker "uses the same password for everything."
The writers are literally writing in reasons for these contrivances, which actually makes it MORE contrived. They're hanging lampshades like they have some sort of light sensitivity.
he is blade not wesker.
Company: "Everyone loves Resident Evil Games... I wonder Why?"
Players: "The story and lore is awesome!"
Company: "Lets make up a completely different story and change the lore!"
Alex face at the start gives this review away 😄
Saves me from watching it lol
INDEED
You, mean the fact he is so ashamed of watching this, he’s hiding his face and facepalming, all in one gesture?
(Not religious but...) god bless Alex. The man has standards, and violates them often so we don’t have violate our own.
Not even 2 seconds and you get the feeling.
Alex is always a disappointment loser who cares about him or his opinion dude should off himself
Incompetence, stupidity, narcissism and greed taken to extreme. This is how those shows/movies are made.
Done by people that neither know the lore, nor particularly care about it. Are not anywhere near talent or ability levels that would be required to tell those reimagined stories. Are convinced that anything they do is an absolute cinematic gold. And think that due to their "extreme talent" they should be showered with praise and admiration.
This series makes the Mila Jovovich movies look like oscar worthy movies
I think biggest problem with the Resident Evil adaptations and just video game adaptations in general, is that Hollywood doesn't respect video games as an art genre. They think the source material is trash, so they always try to do their own thing and think a few references here and there will suffice. I think in most cases none of the writers, producers, or directors play the games at all. It's a shame. It should be an absolute requirement before they start doing anything. Unfortunately all they see are dollar signs from the built in fan base, whom they also don't respect.
JUST when we get adaptations like Sonic the Hedgehog, Detective Pikachu, and Arcane we have THIS.
Hollywood....pay attention to the STARS of the class, not the DUNCES.
the STARS of the class cost more , the DUNCES are cheapper
Starrrrss
So Netflix's response to Paramount's Halo: take the name of a franchise everyone loves, slap it on a series that isn't about said franchise, then sprinkle in *just* enough member berries from the original franchise that shills can go "X franchise fans will never be pleased"
I'm 4 episodes in myself and I kinda agree. It's pretty bad, characters are stupid and make stupid decisions. There's so much teenage drama and not enough horror elements. Lance Reddick is definitely the best part of it and without him, the series would've probably been close to trash. As is, I'm somewhat entertained by it, although half the time I just laugh at the stupidity of the characters. I'd give it a 4 or 5/10 at best. Its really astounding that they keep failing to make something actually good out of this franchise even 2 decades and 7 or 8 movies later.
I laughed so hard at seeing "Wesker." I mean let's be real, they made Blade 😂
Nah bro I told my friends that he’s was called knife 🔪

and them talking sht bout the series is more entertaining itself lol
I love how brutal Alex is. AJ always has a score 1 or 2 points higher than it should, but Alex is like, "fuck that. This is the score it should be!"
You can usually get a sense of the material they're reviewing by Alex's pose or expression in the thumbnail.
Any live action video game franchise is doomed to fail. So you might as well get entertainment out of watching Joe rant on it.
Same with me, I just watch this
They should’ve just made a one off movie about Jill valentine, Ada Wong and Alice. Or just make a movie of code Veronica X
"We hate bad lazy writing"
Falcon and the Winter Soldier would disagree 😂👍🏻
I think Alex echoes the feelings of 99% of people who have watched this.
At least we'll always have the CGI movies.
Lol right
Awe man, RE: Vendetta? That shit gave us the Leon/Chris team-up that we've wanted to see for years! That badass hallway fight with hundreds of zombies is everything I ever wanted out of a Resident Evil movie
Yupp. Those are the only ones worth watching especially damnation. My personal favorite of those three.
At the very least the cgi movies are watchable and fun at least except the newest one

Jade in this show is an amazing unique character in television history. The only character that I hated in two timelines played by two different actresses of different ages. This should be an achievement! At first, I wanted zombies to eat her but after watching the 2 episodes I wanted the zombies to eat ME. Insufferable characters in an awful show!
She's the worst part of the show tbh
Only upside was zootopia porn, that’s my jam.
Thank you!! I thought I was the only one that was totally annoyed with Jade from beginning to end🤦🏿♂️
" _An amazing unique character_ "
Lol yep, she was as cookie cutter as they come.
she is definitely the character of all time
Can somebody step in & say “Nothing else can have a Resident Evil title unless it 100% is a direct adaptation from the game”.. Why TF is it so hard for them to understand what we want & have been waiting on???
I too have seen so many Films & TV Shows that use established IP’s names but mostly have nothing to do with that franchise but could have stood on their own as originals if they used different original title names
Just when I thought it couldn't get worse than Cowboy Bebop, Netflix came out with this

The parent conference was the scariest scene out of everything I saw. I feared for that IT guys life.
No joke lol. In a universe with monsters... that was the scariest thing haha.

What they need to do for a show or movie is make a prequel on how umbrella started and how the mansion was built. You get so much lore and backstory that we had to read in the games that you could easily make a story out of.
The result of this show is a great example of how people get jobs because of connections and not because of talent/ability lmao.

Well in all of us are dead i cared about the characters, in this.... plz zombies just eat her
Yea but even there it was way over done at times. Teeny bopper drama that's dialed up to 11 is still crappy, just other parts of that show made up for it where in RE it's not made up for. The "bullying" in that show, just like this one, was so far out there, especially when the entire school and all the parents are just like lol it's ok we're just gonna brush this under the rug despite vast amounts of the student body knowing exactly what happened. Just like the smashing a burrito in her face in plain sight.. come on now, that's crap writing, just like the bullying scenes in stranger things 4. Modern woke impersonations of what "bullying" is are just shit, across multiple shows
Yes.
@@chomp7927 The writting in this RE can be a lot better but I don't agree in "All of us are dead" being crappy. I think they really knocked it out of the park for a zombie show. The show is for adults even though the protagonists are teens. It's kind of like "The lord of the flies" it was a book about kids being stuck in an island but in adult situations. They display that well in "All of us are dead" it answers the question: what would a bunch of smart high schoolers do in a zombie environment with life and death situations?" Sure the subtitles may not be for everyone but I did not mind it at all even the dub. They do alot of things right, 1 example is "the military." They are actually smart in the show. Unlike other shows or movies where the military is a joke. Other than "The walking dead" I don't see any other zombie show that you can compare it with, so I'd have to respectfully dissagree with you. It had me genuinely hooked, interested and engaged. The writting was a lot better than other zombie shows or movies. Plus It had a room of 10 -13 grown men and woman hooked. Nobody wanted to get up and leave 😂
@@Joel_FC YT keeps deleting my post.....
@@Joel_FC you didn't read what I wrote then.... I said the teen drama crap, specifically the bullying part was written crappy and WAY over the top and exaggerated. The rest of the show made up for it though, where as in RE the rest of the show also sucked. Go see what I wrote as it had nothing to do with everything you just said.
That being said, I can give the weird "dating" drama a bit of a pass being different cultures to an extent yet even there it was a bit over the top how 2 people that clearly liked each other went so abnormally out of their way to act in the opposite it was starting to get borderline too. Not enough to derail the show but it was starting to get grating. There was some other nit picky things but on the whole it was way better than this shit.
The depiction of bullying in TV nowadays, in this, in AOUAD, in stranger things 4, in most things, is just so over the top it's not believable anymore. You mean to tell me that and handful of highschool kids are going to force strip down a female student and then have her boyfriend record it and neither of them goes to any sort of authority? Or how when one guy stops it the victims are like nope we're going to go back and do it anyways and still not tell anyone. The first part could maybe be a hell of a stretch but maybe there's a very slim chance she's just that devastated that she and her boyfriend go along.... maybe, sure... but the guy that tried to save them? He's just gonna be like lol I tried, guess that's just that and all is well lol. Yea, right. Then in class the bully writes on her in giant letters pretty much that she's a ...sloot... and the ENTIRE class is all laughing and it's perfectly normal, not one single person says anything and the teacher who can clearly see something is off doesn't even bother to blink an eye at it? We live in the day and age where you can't even suggest that a preteen cutting off his johnson might require some thinking without an army of tick tock tweens going psycho and large swaths of "progressives" will try to ruin your entire family lineage but somehow that entire scenario played out and a large chunk of the school all were 100% ok with it?
I think the issue with resident evil is the same with everything in the film industry right now. A story that is in the similar realm/genre or poor writing and bad acting and using a famous name from a famous IP to sell it. be it games, books, comics, etc. They have butchered resident evil, star trek, monster hunter, honestly too many to name off. If these directors and writers can't sell their movie or show then they should scrap the idea. The funny thing about it is that the tables turned. For decades video game devs have done a terrible representation of great movies and shows.
The racoon city incident has so many untold stories. Even if writers didn't want to copy the games, you have so many original stories capable of being told through the fact that the entire city was on fire. The outbreak game series, as bad as they were, had potential in being an originally told story within the lore.
It's not hard!!!
Makes me think of the amazing job Capcom did to revive the series from a zombie outbreak into Ethan's story, with the Bakers and the village. Rather than moving into what these live actions try to do with apocalyptic stuff, they make it feel more personal and terrifying.
@@norestforthebuilders5865 I have to agree 100%. Resident evil was always at its best when the stories felt super personal.

Alex today kinda reminds me of the angry joe from years ago. I miss that angry joe, but I'm thankful we have this trio to cover multiple perspectives.
Back when I was a vagrant (2015-19) I used to rent from Redbox quite extensively and I'd always be watching these no-budget Sci fi movies like Chappie, Revolt or Criminal (and those are the good ones) and this show really does remind me of those movies. I'd almost respect the show more if he had nothing to do with Resident Evil.

The Parent teacher conference was the highlight of the series.

Not really. He's just businessman intimidating in business meetings. I think that why it was effective in the parent teacher conference... He's a good actor but I think they miscast him in my opinion.
Really resident evil vibes. Good job netflix.
I did like the scene where they had all of the cloned Weskers in one room. I found that little scene to be hilarious, especially when the real Albert Wesker shows up, does a few intimidating things to the clones and then high tails it out of there when Umbrella came a knocking.
Indeed, it was a great part... one of the few good ones.
Unless it is a tv show that literally adapts the games perfectly, the only resident evil tv show that I think would be pretty sweet would be based on the outbreak games. Call it Raccoon City, or just even Outbreak or something.
Can't wait for that List Video, whatever the review the distinct reasons and how you explain your point of view is both enlightening as well as entertaining.

If any of you are starving for a legitimately excellent zombie story, I *highly* recommend Michael Stephen Fuch's Arisen. Awesome, believable characters - no teen drama - a seriously excellent and entirely plausible origin story for the virus - and he follows his own rules, i.e. no getting covered in infectious zombie gunk cuz it looks edgy and cool (coughWALKINGDEADcoughcough) while acting like one bite or scratch is the end for you. MSF/his characters treat it like it is: a Group 4 infectious agent that YOU CANNOT MAKE CONTACT WITH. Which also means no zombies sneaking up on people (HA! sneaky zombies?? gtfo), while the character is just barely holding it off at arms length and then some other person makes a headshot at 50 ft, and somehow 1st person doesn't get sprayed with infectious zombie blood. He also had the balls to write a zombie story that acknowledges the existence of zombie "culture" within the story, sort of like the clever way Zombieland writers did.
It's by far and away the best zombie story out there. At this point, it's an oversaturated market with A LOT of dreck not worth your time. That is not Arisen. MSF took something as conceptually silly as The Zombie Apocalypse, and asked himself, "what pieces need to be in place for something that would look a ZA to take place?" It's *grounded*. At least as grounded as one can make a ZA story. Also, MSF deep, DEEP knowledge of military culture, protocols, ethos & tactics, makes it one of the best and most believable military/operator stories I've ever come across. Again, it comes HIGHLY recommended. There are over a dozen separate books (not thick reading), and the audiobooks are read by the great RC Bray.
Happy reading/listening, Angry Army!!

Netflix: this show in canon to the games
Me: so weker is alive after being blown up, race swapped for no reason, and we are pretending jake isnt his son and very much canon?
Netflix: YOU’RE A RACIST!
Having a black wesker definitely defeats the notion that this show is cannon and no-one can tell me otherwise
I don't have a problem with them race swapping Wesker. Despite what most of the internet is saying. Just make it good and don't make it cannon.
Netflix dont know shit. The Resident Evil lore is all over the place anyways. On the other hand. Games are their own canon verse and so are Films and TV shows. Marvel and DC have different Hero actresses & actors in their movies and tv shows.
They could have used other Weskers. Albert wasn't the only one as his sister showed. Butvshe sucked. There are other Wesker children.
The show is not canon to the games, the games are canon to the show. And it’s set in its own universe where Wesker looked like that from the start. Anyway, don’t watch it, it’s awful.
This is a PRIME example of a series I will never watch.. but will watch the review for laughs!

We have the exact same opinion on the series. Was like watching resident evil: riverdale or some shit. I said on twitter they just threw in some re monsters and slapped the resident name on it...re1 has everything they need for a great horror movie...hopefully ill get to see a hunter brought to life as they're hands down the scariest monster in re.
Do you mean to tell me that a teenage kid can hack into a system of a multi-billion dollar corporation? Oh, and the password to log on to the dad's work computer is a few letters and numbers? No MFA, no biometric authentication, no physical security key...??
Look... I know it's a show about zombies, but realistic and practical areas help with the immersion of stories, and if you skip over those things, you'll start to wonder wtf the directors were thinking.
The thing is, it's extremely difficult to inject modern sensibilities into a story that takes place in a world where all sensibility has gone out the window (or at least to do it in a way that feels natural). Alice - for better or for worse - _demonstrated_ that she was a badass. We didn't need other people to tell us about _why_ she's a badass, we get to see it (even when it ends up being super corny).

Just watched episode 7. It gets better and somehow gets worse at the same time. Episode 7 has roughly 12 flashbacks, it actually gets harder to follow with some added characters. It definitely feels more like a 28 days later part 2 instead of a resident evil. If you changed the "Umbrella Corporation" to "Generic BadGuy Corporation" and the "T" virus to something else, it wouldn't have much else in common with resident evil.
There's way too many instances of an extremely intelligent character, making stupid, selfish decisions that don't match up with their character. Just to move the plot forward.
The music seems to be from one or two artists only, and for me, didn't pair with the scene well about half the time.
There's some good stuff here, mixed in with total crap. It's entertaining for sure, but also frustrating for all the stupid stupid decisions made to just move the plot forward.
I haven't watched the last episode, but I would say for the episodes I watched, it's about a 5/10 - I am only familiar with the first resident evil game and movie so there's probably a lot of stuff here that's not lore. But it's basically only Resident Evil in name.
TBH I think it would have been 10x better if they just started with the past scenes only and maybe one to two flashbacks. And instead of jumping around like a frog on cocaine, just show one time period at a time. That and not have characters do the stupidest things and not have Umbrella Corporation be completely incompetent with their security. Like my local 7-11 has better security.
It's almost like they said hey we got this pretty good zombie script, and Netflix said we need a Resident Evil series, so they married the pretty good script with Resident Evils' name and this mutated half witted tale was born.

What the fuck does that mean, bucko?
What I'm more curious about is that, even if he's a clone, why does he not look or act like the original Wesker at all? First off Wesker is a white guy with hair, and second thing is that he doesn't care much about people. He definitely wouldn't have a whole family to care about and take care of.

Idk why we can't get a live action RE movie that's akin to the CGI movies.
Resident Evil Vendetta is the best RE movie, it's actually canon to the games and essentially acts as a sequel to RE6.
Vendetta isn't perfect, but at least shows shit that hardcore fans have always wanted to see while also doing its own thing. Leon, Chris and Rebecca working together! I've wanted to see that shit all my life! It introduces a new virus, there's a classic big boss at the end, and there high stakes. Chris and Leon fight a FUCK ton of zombies in a hallway John Wick style! You kidding me? Make THAT into live action!
I'm perfectly okay with wanting to tell a new story, but at the very least make it tie into the games. Almost all of the CGI RE games are canon and fill the gaps in between the games' timeline! They continue the stories of classic characters, instead of just throwing them away. I love RE. RE, Halo and Zelda are my 3 favourite game franchises. It's extremely sad to see these shows/movies get made by people who haven't even played the games ☹️
Problem is they are targeting new younger fans, and they know the parents are the ones buying all their crap for the kiddies. And it is waaaay way easier to please todays conditioned sheep than it was to please the kids of the 90s. These days all they need is flashing lights and explosion sounds, maybe the odd meme. Free to play! Sure all kids can afford free ;)
My issue is the fucking games have cutscenes that give a clearly done story that you can perfectly work with as you please and it would work but no, for whatever reason that’s not how they do things
The reason is simple, the CGI movies know that the best way to present the story is by making an action movie. This is perfectly in sync with the games, while the gameplay itself has horror elements, in the story the characters are mostly combat ready and willing to push on and rarely exhibit characteristics of your run of the mill horror protagonists.
The real life movies constantly attempt to make it either a straight up horror movie or an apocalypse movie, this shifts the focus to much less interesting parts of the RE setting and the movies turn out meh.
Even the Mila movies improved (using this world lightly) once they focused on action rather than horror. It's just that they strayed too much form the source material at that point.
CGI movies are atrocious. Netflix Resident Evil isn't perfect but better than all the others
I was happy to have see a cinema screening of Resident Evil Vendetta before it came out on dvd and Bluray. It was totally awesome. Think I’ll watch it again tonight.
Lance carried the show . Really hoping Bert is okay

My friend tried asking me a for score out of 10 and I said 4/10. It was a big pile of poop. Some of the scenarios were kinda nonsense. For example, Ep1 Where adult Jade is observing zombies. Now, in that timeline you'd think she'd know better to be somewhere remotely safe when observing zombies. Not be sitting 10 - 15 meters away. I was like ARE YOU DUMB?! So annoyed me. Only redeeming person in the show was Lance Reddick for sure. I felt they tried to start little stories but then they never go anywhere! By the end of it all, I was like what was the point? THIS makes Welcome to Raccoon City seem amazing. I hated Paul W S Anderson for years because of the resi evil movies but this show made me appreciate his vision of the franchise
The jade character is so brain dead. Wait until episode 5 when she's in the ship. It will make you rage how stupid she is
It was dumb but she had that super secret anti bo spray to hide her scent until she cut her arm and they found her. Yes its stupid but this isnt the most stupid. For me its where she should have died after being ragdolled by the caterpillar or the end of the first episode where she committed suicide off the fort
At least Paul's movies weren't canon too.
Yeah I was like oh she must be immune to the zombies or something if she's that close to them. NOPE. Lol at that point I was like ohhhhhh its just another dumb show
